Ace Coaching

Ace coaches provided dinner time sports clubs throughout the academic year every

Monday to Thursday for children from Reception to Year 6.

Specific groups were targeted, as well as children who were previously from the non-

active population.

The coaches provided the children with a range of physical activities that embraced

their sporting interests which included tag rugby, multi sports, football, dodge ball and

parachute games etc…

As we entered 2018, we increased the time that ACE coaches came into school,

therefore, we managed to get more children involved with physical activity, as we

looked to meet our gold criteria for school games.

Impact

Ace coaches also provided after and before school clubs for children of all ages

throughout the school. Clubs included, mini olympics, fencing and street dance etc…

Ace coaches helped Peters Hill to engage at least 35% of pupils in extracurricular

sporting activity on a weekly basis, as well as 10% of pupils from the non-active

population, which was part of the criteria for achieving the School Games Silver

Award.

RB Coaching

RB coaches worked throughout the year training at least 29 teachers in the

delivery of gymnastics lessons.

RB coaches supported teachers with the planning and delivery of gym lessons every

Monday and Tuesday. Teachers and coaches engaged in regular written and verbal

feedback to enhance their CPD.

Questionnaire were completed by teachers to demonstrate the impact the coaches

had on their delivery of gymnastics.

RB coaches also provided after and before school clubs for children of all ages

throughout the school with a focus on gymnastics.

Impact

RB coaches helped Peters Hill to engage at least 35% of pupils in extracurricular

sporting activity on a weekly basis, as well as 10% of pupils from the non-active

population, which was part of the criteria for achieving the School Games Silver

Award.

RB coaches were utilized to support school sport and train wider school staff,

which again was part of the criteria for achieving the School Games Silver Award.

Sports Affiliation

Peters Hill were affiliated to be able to attend inter competitions in Dudley,

Sandwell and Birmingham.

Peters Hill have worked closely with the Windsor Academy to pursue the School

Games Silver Award.

Impact

Peters Hill entered a number of inter competitions including, multi sports, cross

country, netball, athletics, tri golf and tennis etc..

Peters Hill entered B and C teams into tri golf and tennis competitions which was

part of the criteria for achieving the School Games Silver Award.

Sports Day

Peters Hill held 8 out of 9 possible sports days in July 17.

Impact

810 children took part in the above intra competition, which provided the opportunity

to compete in a level 1 competition as part of the Silver Award.

4 new gazebos were purchased, along with medals and replacement sports day

equipment to ensure the sports days ran effectively.

Transport usage and costs

We identified that we could involve more of the school in sport if we were able to

travel to competitions. Some budget was put aside to enable us to attend several

events.

Impact

This academic year, we have been transported to the following events:

Football team: various matches and competitions

Tag rugby competition

Athletics competition

Tennis competition x 2

Cricket competition

Tri-golf competition

Gymnastics competition

Netball competition

As you can see, the variety of sports shown above is improved in school from 2016-2017. An

increase of children has been noted, taking part in sports events from school; in school and

as an extra-curricular choice.

CPD for staff

EF was given a budget of £1,000

It was agreed that dance was a target area to improve teaching and learning across

the whole school.

Kit purchases

It was agreed that the school would purchase new kits for the following popular

sports:

Football team

Netball

Athletics

Page 5: Year Allocation - Amazon S3...Year Allocation April 17- April 18 Total 18,050.00 April 17 – April 18 17,500 (money spent) Money not budgeted to be spent 550 April 17 – July 17

Impact

New kits for these sports meant that the school was able to compete in competitions

whilst showing off the branding and ethos of the school.

Previous kits used had become worn out.

Previous kits were not appealing for children to wear.

The new kits are visual, and comfortable and the children wear them with pride.

Children who are not in the above clubs, see the kit, and are made aware of what club

it is and what it represents. Some children have then asked to join in certain clubs

after seeing the kit being worn.

The kit is seen by other schools at competitions.

The football team played 12 matches during the 2017-18 academic year, with 14% of

children in year six participating at some point.

Awards in school

For sports day, and the new inter-house competitions (of which we have ran one in

each year through the academic year) we want to reward children in the winning

houses in ks2.

We would like all children in nursery, reception and ks1 to receive a medal to promote

sport.

Impact

500 medals were purchased and will be issued to children across 2017-2018 academic

year.

Medals are to be kept by children. Everybody wants to win a medal and participating in

sport is the best way to be rewarded. Therefore, children put themselves forward and

give 100% to all sport including the 2 hours of PE they get taught each week as part of

the curriculum.

Development of halls and PE equipment

It was necessary to update some equipment and resources, due to the age of

certain items, and also some stock which needed to be replenished.

Some items did not meet health and safety regulations (new health and safety

book also purchased this year so that PE lessons are compliant).

Impact

Money was spent on the following:

Benches: old wooden benches not fit for purpose. 8 new benches purchased with soft

top and balance beam below.

Gym nest table: the age of the previous nest tables meant that stock needed to be

replaced.

Dance equipment purchased will be used during the teaching of dance lessons and also

during sponsored events.

PE shed equipment has been modernised and updated meaning that there is sufficient

stock in all of the large hall, small hall and PE shed, making equipment accessible

across the whole school so that teaching and learning is of the highest quality.

New equipment has meant that all school clubs and teams have correct apparatus so

that they can compete in their respective competitions until the latter stages.

New benches and next of tables have come in bright colours and are attractive to use.

Equipment purchased will be used in all inter-house activities also.

Nursery and reception was targeted: equipment was purchased for their own areas: eg:

pop-up football goals, caterpillar crawl and alphabet and numbered bean bags.

A Frisbee style quiditch course was purchased to be used at lunch times.

Year 6: current cohort: swimming requirements:

% of children that can complete 25M independently: 70%

% of children that can complete the above using a range of strokes: 64%

% of children that can evacuate the water safely in an emergency: 70%

Action point

To consider taking year 6 swimming from September 2018, to accurately measure the

new swimming criteria. Or, take small intervention groups of those who cannot meet

the criteria.
