Year 8 News Bulletin – 5 April 2019
Dear Parents/Carers
I am glad that this half term has ended more positively. Fewer students are in detention, fewer
students are receiving behaviour points and more students are receiving achievement points on
SIMS. In a recent year team meeting, the year 8 team had a close look at students’ progress this half
term. As a team, we have now identified students who require additional support next half term.
Our year 8 celebration assembly was full off positivity and success. Congratulations to everyone who
has continued to work diligently this half term and to those who have still maintained their
attendance above 96%.
I wish you all a very happy Easter holiday and I look forward to the final term as year 8.

is proud of himself too.

encourage your child to wear a warm coat to school and a school V neck jumper.
More auditions dates added
We are auditioning for a new play!
Brainstorm will be performed in the summer term to the public.
It was part of the National youth theatre connexions festival in 2016.
We want students to audition who are opinionated and expressive as it’s a possibility they may be performing as themselves.
For the play to be the best it can be we are looking for a really diverse cast with a variety of gender identities, ethnicities, nationalities, personality types etc. (the play is about how varied and interesting the teenage brain is, so we need lots of different types of teenagers!)
Please show this video to give them a taster of what we want to do: https://vimeo.com/151931227
A fearless company of teenagers investigate the workings of the adolescent brain. Created with cognitive
neuroscientist Professor Sarah-Jayne Blakemore and drawing...
Benefits of participating:
PiXL Edge/ CV- auditioning experience/interview experience
Build confidence (and shows confidence)
Fun/exciting experience
There are some students in the school who have decided they’re not the performing ‘type’, the point of this play is to get lots of different people together and I’ll be looking for that as much as possible in the casting process. By Ms Pearman (Head of Drama)
Replacing PE Kit
If you need to replace your child’s PE kit please be aware that the kit is changing. However, it is not
necessary to replace your child’s kit until they have outgrown it.

2. If your child is sick and unable to come to school, please call student services before 8a.m.
3. If your child has a medical appointment during the day, they must come to school first, if
