Benefits for Students Students will get a real taste of France Chance to practise their spoken French Learn how to work in a team Discover new skills Develop their self confidence Build new friendships Travel company, transport and journey Chteau Beaumont Specialises in school group trips since 1996 (www.chateau-beaumont.co.uk)www.chateau-beaumont.co.uk Coach service provided by Chateau Beaumont -Seat belts; Air conditioning -Video/DVD player; WC Ferry with Brittany Ferries Portsmouth Caen Longer crossing chosen so less time on coach Day 1 Monday 4 th July 2011 Arrive at Ashlawn school: TIME TO BE CONFIRMED AT TRIP MEETING - Hand in any medicine (except inhalers) in a labelled, clear plastic bag to Mr Taylor - Hand in pocket money (except a few Euros/Pounds I.e. 10 for snacks), in a labelled envelope, name and amount, to Mr May - Keep travelling bag and breakfast/ lunch (I.e. 2 packed meals) with you Depart from Ashlawn School :TIME TO BE CONFIRMED AT TRIP MEETING Ferry 8.15 am Stops en route to ferry. Arrive at the hotel in time for dinner. Evening entertainment at the Chteau. The activities. On the next few slides are the different activities we will be doing during our week. The order of the acitvities may change dependent on the exact timetable of the Chateau, which we will know when we get there however the activities will stay the same! Day 2 Tuesday 5 th July Visit to local French market chance to try out your French and buy some delicious French goodies ! - Day-time activities at the Chteau to include zip- wire, climbing, archery or fencing - Evening entertainment at the Chteau for example Blind Date ! Day 2 Tuesday 5 th July 2011 Day 3 Wednesday 6 th July Visit the medieval fortress of Fougres - Visit Le Mont St Michel - Evening Entertainment at the Chteau for example Fancy Dress night Day 3 Wednesday 6 th July 2011 Day 4 Thursday 7 th July Visit local animal refuge and chocolate factory! -Day-time activities at the Chteau for example zip wire, climbing, archery and fencing -Evening entertainment at the Chteau for example Talent Show & Disco Day 4 Thursday 7 th July 2011 Day 5 Friday 8 th July 2011 Depart Chteau Beaumont after breakfast. Visit Landing Beaches and War Memorial Ferry 16:30 Arrive at Ashlawn School early Saturday morning TIME TO BE CONFIRMED ON RETURN JOURNEY AND MESSAGE RELAYED VIA PHONE TREE ~(Details at trip meeting) Accomodation At Chteau Beaumont Girls and boys dormitories in separate buildings En-suite shower and toilet facilities Recently refurbished with new state of the art central heating Locking front door where teacher is responsible for the key Teachers rooms in between students dormitories to allow close supervision Meals Provided at Chteau Beaumont 3 meals a day Dinner always 3 courses When on full day excursions a packed lunch is provided Food is nutritious and well balanced French flavour but always plenty of English style food as well so students will eat well And yes there is chance for students to try frogs legs and snails a French delicacy! Your childs safety Comprehensive risk assessment completed by Ashlawn School and Chteau Beaumont 4 group leaders Students to remain in a group of three people (minimum) at all times ID cards Code of conduct Duty manager and First Aider on call at the Chteau I will NOT purchase or use -alcohol, drugs or cigarettes, explosives, caps, lighters, flick knives etc..., OR - wander off on my own without permission I also realise that I must; - remain in single-sex rooms - keep the environment around me clean and tidy - listen carefully to instructions - always respect rules REMEMBER YOU ARE A REPRESENTATIVE OF ASHLAWN SCHOOL AND YOUR COUNTRY WHILST IN FRANCE! Code of Conduct Insurance Covered Policy covers: - journey delays/problems - injury - lost personal items - We advise you not to bring any expensive equipment with you, which you do not wish to lose! Passports and EHICs To be handed into Miss Airey on Monday 6 th June Bring before morning registration to Languages Staff Room. To be kept in school safe until departure. To be kept by Miss Airey during the trip Contact and the phone tree Miss Airey will contact school to say that we have arrived safely. However we will not be contacting parents individually. A message will be put on the school website and as soon as we can on the trip blog- please do not ring the Chteau. Emergency number of the Chteau: Miss Airey will contact school to advise them of our return time Phone tree to advise all parents of time of arrival back at school (to be arranged at least 3 weeks prior to travel) Pocket money All activities and meals are included in the price paid Students only need pocket money for snacks or to buy souvenirs There is a tuck shop at the Chteau Recommend no more than 10 per day Money will be distributed every evening- Students to decide how much they will need for the next day. All money to be returned to students on the last evening or return journey as appropriate. Medicines To be distributed morning and night (unless otherwise advised) Ensure that your childs name is clearly labelled and that your child knows when and how to administer the medicine. Travel/sea sickness tablets to be administered as required. Tuck shop Tuck shop will be available at the Chteau Items to be sold in euros! Please get some small change Items to include; - Jus dorange - Orangina - Pain au chocolat ! - Chips ! Kit List (1 medium bag, 1 small day bag ) Clothing -T-shirts -shorts -trousers -jumpers/fleeces -waterproof jacket -nightwear -underwear/socks -sensible walking shoes/trainers -an outfit that can get wet and plastic bag -outfit for a possible talent show/disco ?! Other -towel -wash bag and toiletries -sun cream/sun hat/glasses -paper, pens, pencils, etc -watch -activity/book for journey -camera/film (expensive in France) -alarm clock -bin liner for dirty washing -French phrasebook -Adapter? Workbook Various worksheets will be completed throughout the trip Prizes to be awarded for the best work French Journal Diaries can be kept throughout the trip To include students photos and notes We are hoping that (internet access permitting) students will be able to post their pictures on the trip website so parents can see what we have been learning. Collect postcards, menus, brochures etc throughout trip Again prizes to be awarded for the best journals Merci et Au Revoir!
