Year 7 Music STUDY GUIDE

The exam will be one period in length and will be a mark out of 100. It counts as 25% of your music assessment mark for the semester.

Listening 20% Composition 5%

All questions will be related to notes you have in your music exercise book. There will be 3 sections to the Year 7 Music Exam: Section 1: LISTENING SKILLS

This section could include questions such as � How is the sound made eg plucking � Name the concept eg pitch � Instrument recognition – name the instrument you hear � Rhythm dictation – write down in order the rhythms you hear

Section 2: LISTENING KNOWLEDGE - Topic Questions

This section will ask knowledge questions on the two topics covered of � The Concepts or Building Bricks of music � Australian music

Questions will all be short answer form and include true/false, multiple choice, spelling questions, and labelling parts of instruments.

You will need to revise � Concepts of music and their meanings � How sounds are made � Instruments of the orchestra � Keyboard instruments - their parts, and history � Aboriginal music � Australian folk music

Section 3: COMPOSITION & LISTENING KNOWLEDGE - Reading & Pla ying Music

This section will ask questions relating to the knowledge gained from playing music this semester. Much of this can be found in the manuscript section of your music book.

PDHPE Assessment of Learning Task Unit: 7.8 Drugs, Reality and Risk Weighting: 35% Task duration: 40 minutes Date Handed Out: Week 6 Date Due: In class – Week 8 Monday

Context: Students have been studying the use of drugs in our society as well as short and long term effects of tobacco, alcohol and cannabis. They have also been studying ways to stay safe and reduce the risks associated with drug use in our society Outcomes: 4.6 -describes the nature of health and analyses how health issues may impact on young people 4.7 -identifies the consequences of risk behaviors and describes strategies to minimize harm 4.12 - assesses risk and social influences and reflects on personal experience to make informed decisions. Description of Activity : Drugs Topic Test Students will be required to answer a variety of exam style questions including multiple choice, true / false, short answer, cloze passage questions and glossary activities. The entirety of this exam will occur online using the school Moodle site.
