Year 6 Mini Fete
On November 28, the Year 6 cohort held the annual Year 6 Mini Fete in order to raise funds to
contribute towards a gift for the school. After many weeks of planning, the day progressed smoothly
due to the efforts of the Year 6 students. Much fun was had and there were even a few tears due to
the Haunted House!
Thanks to the wider student body at Strathfield South PS the Year 6 Mini Fete managed to raise
$3951 – a mighty fine achievement indeed! Congratulations also goes to Nikhil K. of 2M for winning
the family pass to Questacon!

Community Carols Night
On behalf of Strathfield South Public School we would like to thank all the parent helpers that assisted with serving, selling, setting up and cleaning on the night as well as to everyone who came along to celebrate our Community Carols Night this year. It was a magical night and wonderful to see our students performing in the orchestra, bands and choirs. It was lovely to see so many families enjoying themselves and sharing in the Christmas spirit on the night. Your generosity with all the gifts brought in for the Reverse Christmas Tree was greatly appreciated. Your continued enthusiasm and support contributed to a successful family and community evening. Media Release 04/12/2017 Strathfield Local Will Get a Big Chop For Aussie Kids Muhammed Ghanem of Strathfield South Public School is hoping the community and local businesses will get behind his effort to raise funds for Variety – the Children’s Charity who give Aussie kids a fair go. On 04/12/2017, Muhammed is chopping off his long locks and donating them to Variety. The donated hair is sent to specialised wig makers who make wigs for those who have lost their hair due to a medical condition such as alopecia. The wigs give those in need more confidence and better self-esteem so they can feel like themselves again. Variety is given money for the donated hair which goes directly back into Variety’s programs so Muhammed’s hair can help Variety help Aussie kids by providing practical equipment, programs and experiences to help overcome obstacles they face and live life to the fullest. Erin, 13, was diagnosed with alopecia and within six months she was completely bald. Erin was granted a wig from Variety and reclaimed her confidence and self-esteem. “She just wanted to feel ‘normal’ again and the wig from Variety certainly made all the difference. Her confidence sky-rocketed,” Erin’s Mum, Maria, said. Variety – the Children’s Charity CEO, David Sexton says people like Muhammed make a big difference for Aussie kids. “Variety doesn’t receive any government funding so every wig and every piece of equipment granted to families is thanks to the amazing efforts of people like Muhammed,” said Mr Sexton. “We can’t thank people like Muhammed enough for his dedicated efforts to help us help Aussie kids.” Muhammed has been growing his hair for 3 years and will be donating 40cm to Variety. It means a lot to Muhammed to be donating his hair because he believes every child deserves to feel confident within themselves. To assist in Muhammed fundraising efforts visit https://hairwithheart.everydayhero.com/au/moey-s-paying-it-forward-his-hair-story All funds raised will be donated to Variety – the Children’s Charity to help give Aussie kids a fair go.

Variety - the Children’s Charity is a community of hard working people committed to ensure all Aussie kids get a fair go. By providing practical equipment, programs and care, Variety helps kids in need overcome the many obstacles they face and join in with everyone else.
