• In St. Michael’s we use a positive discipline policy. Our pupils are aware of the rules and regulations.

• Pupils should be in their class line for 8.50 am as morning prayers take place at this time

• Written notes are required for absences from school, for medical/dental appointments and homework not done.

• Children will be marked late on the register after 9:10am.

• Homework should take approx 40/45 minutes. Please remember to sign and check each evening.

• P.E. – White T- shirt and maroon shorts. Label everything!!

• P.E days are Monday & Tuesday.

• Numeracy – Revise times tables and quick recall of mental maths, as this will aid all aspects of number work.

• Literacy – Hear reading on a regular basis. Encourage your child to read a broad range of texts, and develop their vocabulary skills with the aid of a dictionary.

Introducing a new PDMU programme in Years 4-7

PATHS is a social-emotional learning curriculum that focuses on teaching children improved thinking skills and responsible decision making.

Aimed at promoting positive self-esteem and alternative thinking skills

Parental input required for Pupil of the day.

• STAR Reading is used to determine your child’s reading level.

• Your child will receive a reading range after taking a STAR Reading test

• AR will suggest range of books that will challenge a child without causing frustration or loss of motivation

• Teachers will obtain child’s reading age following Star Reading Test

Star Reading Test

• ‘AR is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice’

• When finished their novel, your child takes a short quiz on the computer.

• Passing the quiz is an indication that your child has understood what has been read

• Pupils earn a percentage of points according to how well they pass the quiz.
