Read the sentences below. The meaning of the sentences is changed depending on the modal verb that we put in the sentence. The modal verb is highlighted in bold. Examples: We might go for a run this afternoon. We will go for a run this afternoon. We should go for a run this afternoon. We may go for a run this afternoon. We would go for a run this afternoon if only it wasn’t raining. We can go for a run this afternoon. We could go for a run this afternoon if you want to. We must go for a run this afternoon in order to try and get fit. We shall for a run this afternoon if the weather is dry. We ought to go for a run this afternoon as we’ve not been out all day. Example for activity 1 I might go for a walk this afternoon. My modal verb is “might”. I am going to change this verb to “should”. My sentence becomes, I should go for a walk this afternoon. Activity 1 Rewrite the sentences below, changing the modal verb. Steps to Success: a. Read the sentence b. Find the modal verb c. Change the modal verb to alter the meaning of your sentence

Activity I would like you to think about whether sound can travel through different materials – by this I mean solids, liquids and air. Think about some of the sounds that you have identified last week in your sound survey and consider how sound travels – you can do this by thinking about how you hear a sound from a sound source in a different room or upstairs ? record your finidns with pictures and data if you can. Break 3: (2-2.15pm) Activity 6: (2.15-3.15) Science continued.
