Year 3 Homework Guidance – Autumn Term 2017
1 piece of Maths and 1 piece of Writing/Other homework will be set each week.
Times tables and spellings need to be practised 3 times each week.
Reading at home needs to take place at least 3 times each week for at least 15 minutes. This also needs to include
questioning and discussion about the book.
The maximum amount of points per week is 25.
Writing or Other homework will be set on a Tuesday and is due in the following Monday. Writing and Other homework should be
completed in the Writing Homework Book unless otherwise stated.
Maths homework will be set on a Thursday and due in the following Wednesday. Maths homework should be completed in the
Maths Homework Book.
If a child is away for a week, they can still achieve the points if they catch up on the tasks missed.
Maximum points will only be awarded for good quality work completed to the best of your child’s abilities.
Homework is not set in the last week of term to allow time for points to be collated.
At the end of each term, children will be given an award to recognise their homework achievements. Margins are as follows:
Bronze – 125 points
Silver – 175 points
Gold – 245 points
Platinum – 300 points As a guideline, children should spend around 30 minutes on each maths, writing and other task. If a child has spent this amount
of time on a task and it is decided that they have done enough work in this time, they should hand in what has been completed.
Children may log into Espresso online to make use of a range of resources to help with their homework at www.espresso.com.
