We are thinking about

recounts this week. Grown

ups watch this clip if you

want to refresh your

memory!

https://www.theschoolrun.

com/what-is-a-recount

Look at resource 5. The

first part will show you

the main features of a

recount. Then you will find

3 examples of recounts.

Read recount 2 and see

which features you can

spot.

Support: recount 3

Challenge: recount 2

Think about what

you want to write a

report on. Is it

something that you

have done, or are

you going to use

your imagination to

create your

recount?

Use your ideas to

draw a picture map

of what

happened.Draw a

picture to show

each event.Make

sure you label the

pictures on your

map.

Support: Create

your map using only

pictures

Challenge:write a

sentence for each

feature on your

map.

By looking at your

map, use the

information to fill in

the big plan -

choose a template

(resource 6). You

will need to put your

ideas from your map

in the correct part

of the plan. You can

have more than one

idea in each part.

Support:Draw

pictures to show

how you are going to

organise your work.

Challenge:Extend

your ideas by

including any

exciting language

that you will want to

use in your writing.

Now it's time to

write up your ideas

to make a recount.

Use your big plan to

help you structure

your report.Look at

resource 7 to

remind yourself of

the features of a

recount.

Support: use the

writing frame in

resource 7

Challenge:Try and

include as many

time connectives

from the list in

resource 7.

A diary entry and

a newspaper

article are both

examples of

recounts.

Can you write a

dairy entry for

your favourite

character, or a

news report for

you favourite

story?

Choose either one

of these to write

your new recount.

See resource 8

for templates.

You can write as

little or as much

as you want to.

You can use

pictures too.

Art-

Keep an art diary for

this week.. Either in a

notebook, sketch pad or

on a found paper (things

like paper bags, opened

up used envelopes,

kitchen towel or

greaseproof paper) ,

make a drawing each day.

It can be a drawing from

your imagination, or a

drawing of something

you can see. At the end

of the week, look back at

your work and feel

proud!

Science-

Last week we

planned a national

game reserve.

This week we are

going to make a

parachute so we

can drop in on our

reserve, watch

out for the lions!

Look at resource

9 for the

instructions.

Music

Use drawing to think

about music

Drawing to sounds and

music can be a lovely

listening activity, you can

‘dance with your hands’

whilst using crayons,

pencils, felt tips, paint

or brushes. You can even

use water on the ground

outside.

Experiment with

different types of

music.Does the

different music change

how you draw or paint?
