How can you help and support your child with their learning?
•Listen to your child read regularly – preferably every day
•Ask your child questions about the story and check they understand any new words.
•Read TO your child so your child develops a real interest and desire to read for themselves
•Support and encourage your child with their homework
•Help support your child learn the ‘basics’ of maths – number bonds to 10 then 20, timestables. Mental maths, for example adding 10 and 2 in in their head and 23 add 6.
•Play games to support your child’s learning –‘snap’ / BINGO – help develops their sight vocabularyHangman – supports spellingTimestables games – Woodlands junior website has a great
number of timestables games, especially good is ‘Hit the Button’
