Group them and count how many in each group.
What do I write in my book?
Think about how you are going to show how many you have in each group. You might draw all the things and put a circle around them or you might draw a chart like the one in the video link. Plenary Task: Addition number facts:

Warm Up:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z6882hv/articles/zttckqt Watch the above clip and discuss what you have seen. You may also wish to look at the life cycle of a frog just under the clip you have watched. What do I write in my book?
Create pictures to show the life cycle of a butterfly or a frog. If you prefer you may wish to create life cycle pictures of a different animal. You may find it helpful to use the layout of the frog life below which is also available in the above link.

fact is known your child will be able to tell you almost immediately the answer (within 3 seconds). Adults: If you child cannot remember the
answers to the five questions, repeat the same five tomorrow. The aim of this activity is for the children to know the answers so they will be able to tell you the answer very quickly.
Main task What do I write in my book?
Write the alphabet in your book. Put a circle around the 5 vowels a, e, i, o and u. All the other letters in the alphabet are consonants.
In the video it told you five different things. Today we are going to focus on the first of those things: What happens when you add a suffix to a word that ends with two consonants?
Do you remember? The rule is you just add the suffix to the word. Draw a poster or write a sentence with some examples of words where you are adding some of the suffixes –ing, -ed, -er, -y or -est.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zg4d2hv Today we are going to collect some data and put it into a pictogram. You could use the same things you sorted yesterday or choose something different. Warm Up:
https://www.everyschool.co.uk/science-key-stage-1-life-cycles.html Look at the above link. ‘Caterpillars to Butterflies’ and ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ sections will probably prove to be the most useful. What do I write in my book?
Pick a different animal life cycle and decide how you would like to display your work. You can draw pictures and add 1 (or more!) sentences so that you can add detail to your work and explain how the life cycle works. You might want to create something which is too big to fit in your book which is absolutely fine. Below are some ideas which you may wish to use.
Main Task
Read from your individual reading book, a book from home or pick a book from the following link. https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/
Possible activity
Comparing characters:
Choose two characters from the book, what is the same about them, what is different?
Either:
Draw one circle and write
words to describe one
character in the book.

Write the alphabet in your book. Put a circle around the 5 vowels a, e, i, o and u.
Warm Up: Look at the following link. https://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/webcams/panda-cam/ Discuss what animals you saw on the cams. What do I write in my book?
Draw a picture of one of the animals you saw, read about or your own pet in as much detail as you can. What labels can you add to show your animals different body parts and special features? You may wish to only add body parts (claws, tail, teeth) or you could also add a little detail (sharp claws to help them catch their prey). You might decide you would rather paint and label a picture outside your book or, if you have plasticine you could make a model of an animal. Now have a go at writing labels describe and provide information about your animal. Upload a picture to Seesaw. The choice is yours!

Year 1/2 Home Learning Activities: Week Beginning 30th March
In the video it told you five different things. Today we are going to focus on the first of those things: What are the exceptions to these rules?
Do you remember? The exceptions are: When the word ends with a ‘y’ and you are adding the suffix –ing, keep the ‘y’, don’t change it to ‘i’ before adding –ing e.g. flying, trying When the word ends with an ‘i’, you just add the –ing e.g. skiing. Draw a poster or write a sentence to explain this rule with some examples of words where you are adding the suffixe –ing.
