Term 3, Issue 10

Latest News

Term 3 always goes by very quickly

as it is a very busy term. As we

prepare for Term 4, I am getting

ready to write the Quadrennial

School Review. This review happens

every four years and not only looks

back on our achievements but sets

the scene for our school’s future. In

this newsletter there is a

questionnaire to fill in and return to

the school. Please do fill it in, as the

future of our school is a

collaboration and we all want the

best for our great little school.

Eisteddfod practice is continuing in

preparation for the performances

next term. Please remind your

students to practice their

performance at home.

The school has recently purchased

new sporting equipment, so there is

no necessity to bring their own balls

to school. Students are not

permitted to bring electronics

(Games, phones, etc), Pokemon

Cards, or any other items which

may cause distress if lost.

Lastly, I would like to wish

everyone a happy and safe holiday.

Cricket

This Friday. Cricket Qld Bulls Masters

will be at the school to teach cricket

skills to the students.

We communicate in so many

different ways each and every day.

Would you classify sport as a form of

communication?

Specifically cricket?

Well, Queensland cricket's biggest

names are touring around regional

Queensland with the Bulls Masters

intending to improve classroom

outcomes using cricket as the

communication platform.

The program aims to assist

disengaged students and hopefully,

with the help of a batsman, a pitch

and a grass stain or two, better

involve students with their school

community.

Our successful curriculum program focuses on English,

mathematics, science and technology with other key

learning areas (KLAs) integrated into units. All students

have access to computers and interactive whiteboards

are in each classroom. We have a whole school choir,

recorder, violin and guitar bands. Our choir and folk

group participate annually in the Gladstone eisteddfod.

Science and technology are integral to our learning and

we run a Robotics program. As well as these subjects we

grow our own vegetables and fruit and we have an

adopted scientist. Our focus is to continually update

and improve pedagogy, and to know and understand

each child in order to develop optimal techniques to

challenge them, in a caring and supportive classroom.

We map, record and report every student’s progress

against outcome statements relating to what a student

should know.
