EXTRA RUNS

There were zero (0) extra runs during the month of September 1-30, 2015.

MAINTENANCE

VIA YARTS Buses are kept maintained regularly. Currently buses are rotated among runs to evenly

distribute miles across the fleet. Regular buses are assigned to each route. Maintenance reports are

submitted to YARTS Transit Manager for all service and repairs.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

A total of 612 YARTS customer inquiry calls were received in the VIA YARTS offices during the

period from September 1-30, 2015. A comprehensive log of incoming calls by type, including calls

regarding customer complaints, commendations, and recommendations is maintained and monitored

continually.

CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS AND FOLLOW UP ACTIONS

There were several customer complaints received during the month of September 1-30, 2015 by phone

and email. All operational issues have been addressed and rectified so they can be avoided in the future.

The complaints are as follows:

09/8/15 Passengers said the air conditioner was not working on Run 28. VIA followed up to

repair the air conditioner before the bus went out again.

09/9/15 Employee emailed about two drivers not having passes and one driver not having a card

reader all the same day. Operations followed up with the specific drivers and found that

one of the drivers had forgotten the card reader that day, one driver had come in as an

emergency relief and did not have passes, and the other had run out that day. VIA

Operations manager followed up with the employee personally by phone to apologize,

explain what happened and offer to reimburse the employee for her pass purchase. The

employee declined the reimbursement and said she was satisfied with the explanation and

would continue riding YARTS.

09/15/15 Passenger said Run 9 passed him without picking him up at 4:33 pm. Passenger called

back a minute later to apologize; the bus showed up 10 minutes behind schedule.

09/18/15 A motorist called in claiming the YARTS driver on Run 4 was leaving the turnouts early,

cutting off cars before they could finish passing. Operations followed up with safety

manager, trainer and driver. Driver was treating turnout as a passing lane. However,

since there were five cars following the bus, driver should have stopped and let all cars

pass before re-entering highway. Driver has been advised of proper procedures and

regulations.

09/20/15 Received email from employee saying that some new drivers are crossing yellow lines

and driving too fast on curve between housing and NPS maintenance on Foresta Road.

Operations reminded all drivers to slow down and hold their lanes.

09/21/15 Passenger said that Run 8a driver was late. Follow up showed that driver started on time

and could have been delayed due to traffic and pass sales.

Wheel Chair Requests

There was one (1) wheelchair request filled for the month of September 1-30, 2015. Additionally, there

have been regular unannounced wheelchair riders on various YARTS runs. Nineteen (19) wheelchair

buses (YARTS owned and VIA supplemental fleet) are available to accommodate YARTS passengers

on all corridors in accordance with ADA guidelines.

Cal-Trans, Traffic & Construction Delays

There were 5-minute to 30-minute delays throughout the month on separate runs due to construction,

traffic issues and road conditions on all corridors.

Hwy 140

Hwy 140 service continued to run the summer schedule through September 27, 2015. As of September

28, 2015, Hwy 140 started the winter reduced-run schedule.

Sonora/Mammoth Service

All runs ran smoothly for the month of September 2015. Mammoth service continued to run only on

weekends through September 27, 2015. One Sonora run ended on September 7th

, 2015. The final run

ended on September 20, 2015.

Fresno Service

Fresno service continued to run daily summer schedule thru September 27, 2015. The winter reduced-

run schedule began on September 28, 2015.
