The Yamaha Electone Festival is held annually with the aim of providing Electone enthusiasts a platform for them to express their skills, creativity and passion using the highly versatile Yamaha Electone. Auditions were held in four (4) different venues throughout Malaysia to select finalists for the Yamaha Electone Festival National Finals held on the 1st of July 2012 at Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Pusat Pelancongan Malaysia (MaTiC) Hall.
Being blessed with the opportunity to participate at the Yama-ha Electone Concours (YEC) in Japan was indeed an invalu-able and unforgettable experience for me.
As a participant, besides having to prepare more compositions and also to have a mini concert to showcase my pieces to my trainers, family and friends; I too had the opportunity to par-ticipate in several master- classes by some of the highly skilled and experienced Electone players – Iwazaki sensei , who was the winner of the YEC from previous years; Yoji Nagano Sensei , who himself had produced countless numbers of today’s famous Electone players and many more.
Time and tide wait for no man; once you missed an opportunity, you may never get it back. And so with the opportunity given, I decided that I would do these two things when I stepped upon the land of the rising sun. No.1 - to give my all when I perform and No. 2 - hop onto the bustling streets of Japan and just immerse in the atmosphere there. It was indeed fun and I too did not miss out on the chance to pay a visit to the headquar-ters of Yamaha Music Foundation in Meguro.
However, no words could express my joy and honour as I represented my home country – Malaysia to perform in front of many in that grandeur concert hall, the Kioi Hall. At the end of the day, though I didn’t manage to get into the finals however, I just felt a great sense of achievement for all the experience and exposure gained throughout this journey in preparation for the big day.
All in all, thank you to all who have given me this golden opportunity and also for their unrelenting support! All the exposure given will serve as a great motivation for me to excel further in my musical journey. Thank you!
