so excited to lead, to serve, to grow, and to spread Jesus’ love to our community. We have a brand new 7-piece band, new leaders, art- ists, everyone in some way is con- tributing their talents and spiritual gifts to help serve the youth group. So a couple weeks after you get back into the groove of school, we get back into the groove of Wednes- day Night Live. Be sure and mark your calendars for September 15th, the return of WNL. But for now, get out and enjoy these waning days of summer, the sun is shimmering and bright, the birds are singing, and Jesus is alive. Adios, -Nick Johnston As the sun starts to dip lower and lower in the sky and the dulcet, sun -kissed days of summer begin to wind down, we turn our attention to the upcoming school year. Paper and pens are purchased, backpacks are dusted off, and alarm clocks are returned to those familiar yet un- fathomable hours. And with every new year of school comes a new year of Wednesday Night Live. This new year of Wednesday Night Live is an exciting one. Coming off of a terrific summer with events like SUMT and Creation, the youth group has had a lot of time to think about this upcoming year. Never before have I seen our youth group WNL! CREATION 2010

We had a small group this year, but don’t worry, we made sure everyone there was aware of our presence. Whether it be in our ridiculous dancing during Newsboys or Nick Johnston and Nick Bryden walking around the campsite with their banjo and harmonica, we made our mark.

With a new location down in Enumclaw, WA this year, we expected Creation to be a bit cooler. It wasn’t. Just as hot as the Gorge, we had to take a run to Lake Tapps one of the days just to cool off. I guess most of the cooling off took place in the air conditioned car on the way.

Besides good music and good food, Creation this year was complete with good community. I myself was encouraged by spending some goofy time with these joyful teenagers as well as seeing a little bit more into their walks with God. They’re a rare group. All in all it was an extremely fun time.

Be looking to join the group next year for Creation 2011!

I thought that through all of the community ser-vice our Youth Group became a lot closer and was really able to bond through helping other people. There is something super wonderful about being able to serve people with such a hard working group of people who love Jesus.

SUMT 2010

I am always amazed that the best youth event of the summer is the cheapest and most work-required one. With around twenty students this year we got a lot done. 14 service projects in 3 days. From serving meals to gardening to bagging beans, these kids have done it all. Some of them even got to eat cow tongue.

It has become so clear that we become servants during these days not so that we can be great and change peoples’ lives, but so that we can practice ourselves what it means to serve and to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I have come to learn that it is not so much what I can do for another person, but rather what I can learn from them and from serving them. These kids worked hard and learned much both from those they served and from each other.
