FINANCIAL AID, FALL TERM 1967-68 Students who will need financial assistance to attend Miami-Dade in the fall term, August, 1967, should apply

for scholarships and loan s by April 1, 1967, to obtain priority consideration. Although financial aid has been awarded for the full 1966-67 academic year, some funds may be made available

for the summer term. Students who wish to get an early start on their college work should apply by February 1, 1967, if financial assistance is needed.

ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE APPOINTED A ten-member Admissions Committee, composed of five faculty members from the South Campus and five from

the North Campus, has been appointed to recommend college-wide admissions policies. The representatives of each campus meet separately as a sub-committee to resolve problems which relate to their particular campus. Mr. Douglas Matthewson, Director of Admissions for both campuses, serves as chairman of the committee.

EARLY START CAREER PILOT - SUMMER PROGRAM During the 1966 Summer Term, selected high school seniors were enrolled in career pilot training. Two classes

in flight theory and two classes in flying were involved. The South Campus had nine students enrolled, while the North Campus had ten. These 19 students represented nine local high schools.

In general, the interest of the high school group was greater than the regular college student. The program was most successful.

NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM Installation of a new "Third Generation" computer system in the North Campus Computer Center gives the

College a claim to another nation-wide first. Miami-Dade is the first-and-only junior college in the nation with a complete IBM System 360. The number of students enrolled for data processing courses this fall went over the 2,400 mark.

Miami-Dade provides two-year data processing programs with two options -- business and science. With employer demand in both areas continuing to exceed supply of trained personnel, employment is virtually at the 100 per cent mark.
