More than 65 years of experience in prepress and print form productionLüscher developed the XPose! Flex range specifi-cally to meet the needs of packaging printers and security printers.

The XPose! Flex uses unique hybrid technology for imaging a wide range of media and is compatible with most available print forms. As well as imaging standardised steel and aluminium offset plates, the CTP system can work with ablative polyester plates.

The XPose! Flex offers a range of customer benefits thanks to its unique architecture, ease of use and user-oriented functions.

A technical revolution!The internal drum technology means that the print form remains static during the imaging process. This removes the need for dynamic balancing of the drum, and there are no vibrations. The technology offers another benefit in ablative imaging – loose particles can simply be vacuumed away.

In the XPose! Flex, the number of laser modules is up to you. This means you can optimise your own price/performance ratio.

The world of flexographic printing is currently working on eliminating the side-effects of oxygen inhibition. A number of plate manufacturers are bringing new technologies onto the market. Our XPose! Flex is compatible with the latest technolo-gies.

The number of lasers can be varied from 16 to 96. The resolution of the optics can be selected from a range between 2400 or 2540 dpi (standard) up to 10000 dpi (for security printing).

Flexible register systemsOur customer-specific register systems avoid any complicated plate mounting and other inefficient manual steps like sticking plates to cylinders. This shortens setup times and minimises waste.

The unique internal drum architecture guarantees rapid plate loading without the need for clamps, taping or a magnetic drum.

Dual plate imagingThe internal drum technology with adjustable regi-ster system allows imaging to be carried out on two, four, six or eight pre-punched plates at the same time. Dual plate imaging increases productivity and reduces production costs.

Continuous Calibration Technology (CCT)The performance of each laser is individually moni-tored at all times, guaranteeing maximum reliability and uniform, standardised imaging.

The CTP system of choice for all relief printing applicationsThe XPose! 230 Flex was developed for the narrow web and label printing market. The XPose! 260 Flex is also suitable for large-scale packaging applica-tions and for service providers.

In its standard configuration, XPose! 230/260 Flex can image all known ‚digital‘ Flexo plates and the full range of Letterpress & Dry Offset plates.

It is designed to image any material that has a digital coating (LAMS layer), such as Flexo plates, Letterpress plates, varnishing plates as well as ablative offset plates and films.

The XPose! Flex range has resolutions of between 2400 and 10000 dpi, so it can meet all customer-specific requirements. The Continuous Calibration Technology (CCT) guarantees unrivalled quality and consistency, even at maximum resolution.

The technology for the highest imaging resolution in the XPose! Flex range was developed in collabo-ration with world-leading partners. This technology is suitable for the most challenging security printing applications, for example bank notes, credit cards and passports.

The XPose! Flex delivers supreme register accuracy for perfect colour control and exact reproduction of thin hairlines as used in Guilloche patterns.

The increased risk of counterfeit activities and more stringent requirements constantly challenge the Security printers. The name of the game is to stay at least one step ahead of counterfeiters.

Please note that security printing systems with a 10160 dpi resolution and bank note production systems are sold exclusively through the Lüscher partner KBA-NotaSys SA.

We have been working successfully with KBA-NotaSys SA for several years – they market bank note printers under their own name and using their own designs, handling CToP-branded CTP systems as exclusive Lüscher partners.

PrintQ and the Support ToolUsers can efficiently process incoming one-bit TIFFs with the user-friendly PrintQ software package bundled with the CTP system.

Software components include the print spooler (queued jobs), the image and job preview feature with sorting and statistical information, and the print form and user database. The Support Tool also contains process flow visualisation and system analysis, and allows changes to be made to the mechanical processes. A parameter-setting feature and efficient fault analysis are also provided by the Support Tool.

X!PlateX!Plate optimises the plate position of the TIFF separations in different jobs, minimising waste. Flexo plates are expensive to buy and the formats are extremely variable. X!Plate significantly reduces plate usage.

X!SkipX!Skip controls the CTP system so that the imaging component is only active if there is printing infor-mation. Unprinted areas are simply skipped. This function saves time and further cuts your operating costs.

X!DirectX!Direct is the world‘s first UV imaging technology of its kind for relief print forms.

X!Direct applies the imaging energy to the relief print form in several stages. The image data is prepared in order to optimise the tonal value and the anchoring of the relief elements, adjusting them individually if necessary.

Demonstration + Training

Demonstration and training centre in SeonWe offer comprehensive user training in order to optimise the way the systems are used.

Close to our production facility, we have a state-of-the-art demonstration and training centre. Visitors can go there to learn about all prepress techno-logies from a practical point of view. There is a comprehensive collection of modern equipment.

The 500 m2 centre gives visitors the opportunity to carry out testing and live production. We work closely with partners in the same building to create applications that allow customers to test print form production in their particular sector. Many diffe-rent washing and developing processes are used to produce print forms in a range of applications like flexographic, offset or screen printing. Working together in this way means we can provide training and demonstrations in a professional environment.

We have launched an academy for service engi-neers, aimed at dealers and representative offices that provide servicing for our CTP systems. The aim is to bring all technicians throughout the world up to the same high standard of training, keep them updated on technical developments, and help them organise their service activities in a professional and efficient way. The high level of training is also intended to increase the independence of dealers, reducing costs on both sides.
