The design and internal fi t out genuinely increases the operator’s on the job effi ciency. Tools, equipment and parts all have their place and are easily reached and minimise repeat visits with forgotten tools or replacement parts. Time savings of over 20% have been reported by some users, paying for the XL body many times over, in operator wages every year.

Engineered to Last

The XL management team is fanatical about “engineering”, they aim always to produce the best service bodies and canopies anywhere. They call it “good engineering”, their critics might call it “over-engineering”.

But you can’t argue about the fact that of the 20,000 plus XL Service Bodies built since the factory started 20 plus years ago, most of them are still on the road doing a great job having outlasted three or four vehicles. If you doubt that just count how many you see on the road with the distinctive “XL” cut out near the number plate.

This is achieved with in-factory testing and quality control through each stage of the production process.

99% Factory Built in Australia

It may seem a small thing, but at least 99% by weight of the parts making up an XL Body or Canopy are made by XL! This includes door handles, slam shut door mechanisms, hinges, etc. The exceptions are some of our central locking components and electrical items.

Past experience with other manufacturers of these parts, often from overseas, with supply problems and poor quality standards led XL to develop and manufacture their own, something beyond the capability of most manufacturing businesses.

The XL production line is modelled on that of car manufacturer’s with a seamless production pathway from sheet metal and components to fi nished XL Service Bodies and Canopies either fi tted to their vehicles or wrapped in plastic bubble wrap on pallets, ready for transporting to Australia and the world.

The XL factory in Wacol, Brisbane supplies service bodies and canopies throughout Australia and worldwide to a wide range of customers including telecommunications suppliers, electrical contractors, the mining industry, tradespeople, local authorities and the Australian and U.S. Army.

The basic designs fi t all makes of four and two wheel drive utility vehicles and are redesigned as new trade vehicles are introduced to the market.

3 Year Warranty

XL offer a 3 year warranty on all Service Bodies and Canopies. History shows that they last much longer than that, but XL believe anything that happens after 3 years of active life should be the responsibility of the owner. XL do support all our models with replacement parts for at least fi ve years and longer, so if those accidents happen its not the end for an XL Body!

A History Downunder

XL was founded by the Korganow family in Brisbane Queensland on January 1991 to manufacture service bodies primarily for one ton cab-chassis.

Tens of thousands of Service Bodies later the Korganow family still owns and manages XL today.

The XL Body as the service body has become known, is a one piece, all steel unit with externally accessible weatherproof side cabinets and a central load area with tie-down points.

During its successful history, XL has fi rmly established the Service Body as the logical alternative to conventional vans and pick-ups / utes, offering greater driver safety, tidy effi cient storage, weather protection and security for tools and accessories.

Of primary importance is operator effi ciency with all tools and spare parts taken to job sites and work done either on site or at the service body workstation. This saves vast amounts of expensive operator time, effectively paying for the service body investment many times over.

From its inception in 1991, the XL Body was developed using computer aided design software. Today the design team at XL use Solidworks Solid modelling and state of the art software and technology to design, develop and manufacture all products and components, from sheet metal to completed service bodies and canopies.

This way we ensure XL service bodies and canopies equal and better world class standards while delivering a long operating life and maximum weather and dust protection.

XL Paint & Finish Quality.

XL’s in-house Chemical Engineering Department has developed a 5-stage iron phosphate coating system to ensure every XL Service Body is corrosion-protected prior to powder coating.

5-Stage Iron Phosphate Coating System.

After extensive cleaning, every XL Body is totally submerged in fi ve 12,000 litre chemical and fi ltered water tanks:

• Tank 1 – Alkaline cleaner heated to remove grease and debris.

• Tank 2 – Filtered demineralised water rinse.

• Tank 3 – Phosphate solution etches the product surface and applies a uniform iron phosphate coating.

• Tank 4 – Filtered demineralised water rinse.

• Tank 5 – Polymer solution seals the iron phosphate coating for superior corrosion protection and enhanced powder coat adhesion.

Powder Coating.

All powder coating is completed in house to ensure a uniform quality standard of thickness and lustre.

This provides:

The XL A-Body

The XL A-Body results from many years of XL’s design refi nement.

Robust, practical and lightweight, it’s the fl agship of the XL fl eet. The A-Body features storage cabinets with side door access on each side of the body. All doors have slam shut locks and are keyed alike. We also offer optional central locking.

The centre aisle between the two side modules provides a secure utility storage area with tie-down points along the inner side walls. Access to the aisle is via the rear of the body and features a tough swing-down workbench tailgate. The XL A-Body provides an abundant storage area for tools and consumables and you can easily adjust the internal shelving to suit your needs.

A unique feature of the XL A-Body is an effective 100mm high, full-length storage compartments with gas strut assisted fl ip–up lids and internal locking. The average single cab A-Body has over 4 metres of linear shelving

storage in the fl ip lid comparments. This is an ideal place to store your smaller items in a logical manner using the supplied adjustable shelf dividers. Everything you need is right in front of you next time you are looking for that special part.

With a low overall height providing excellent rear vision, and low centre of gravity for improved handling when loaded, the XL A-Body is the ideal mobile workstation for the serious contractor on the go.

Z-BODY XL Service Bodies

The XL Z-Body

The XL Z-Body is currently the largest service body in the XL Fleet (the V-Body will be bigger when available) and features:

• Three vertical storage compartments on each side of the body.

• One horizontal storage compartment on each side of the body.

• Side door access to each compartment.

• Slam-lock, single-keyed doors.

The Z-Body doors also support central locking.

The centre aisle between the two side modules provides a secure utility storage area with tie-down points along the inner side walls. Access to the aisle is via the rear of the body and features a tough swing-down workbench tailgate. The Z-Body provides an abundant storage area for tools and consumables, and you can easily adjust the internal shelving to suit your needs.

The unique feature of the Z-Body is the full-length storage compartment mounted above the vertical storage compartments on each side of the vehicle. It is an ideal storage solution for bulky components such as PVC pipe fi ttings, fl uorescent tubes etc.

The top of the Z–Body aligns with the cabin roof of the vehicle and provides maximum storage while minimizing frontal drag helping to keep your fuel costs under control. When loaded correctly, the Z-Body still has a relatively low centre of gravity due to XL’s low chassis mounting points. The XL Z-Body is the ideal mobile workstation for carrying bulky items and tools.

The latest addition to the XL family of robust no nonsense, work bodies is our new XL Canopy Service Body

With large single lift up doors for easy access from both sides of the vehicle and an optional rear door, this Canopy Service Body will suit those who have found our traditional service bodies inappropriate to their needs.

This is the ideal dual purpose body with its large open plan interior. “Work vehicle during the week... camper on the weekends!”

Over the past four years XL has researched, developed and engineered its own Roll Over Protection System (ROPS) at our two acre facility located in western Brisbane.

The new XL R- Body is the amalgamation of the ROPS system and the XL A-Body.

LUBE SKID XL Service Bodies

Australian made lube skid for servicing mobile equipment.The XL Lube Skid is a self contained pump and oil storage system designed to fi t standard one tonne and upwards vehicles, for on-site oil changing.

These rugged Lube Skids are fully mobile and provide an easy solution to effective and quick oil change servicing of heavy equipment on site.

The XL Lube Skid can be loaded and off loaded by fork lift and moved from one truck to another to provide quick effi cient turn round times.

The XL Lube Skid is manufactured in Australia and uses high quality components and parts ensuring good back-up replacements and minimum down time. The tanks are double seam welded for additional strength and powder coated inside to ensure oil is not contaminated by rust particles and externally for corrosion resistance.

All XL Lube Skids are bench-tested before despatch and are ready for action.

XL realises the importance of setting up you vehicle to suit your exact daily work requirements: after all, time is money. Effi ciency in your work vehicle is paramount in today’s hectic work pace: hence we have designed a range of accessories to complement your XL Body.

1). Conduit Carrier - PVC

Available in custom lengths up to 4.6m. These tough, lightweight, UV stabilised conduit carriers are ideal for rods and other thin items. Available in 2 diameters, 100mm and 150mm, they are easily mounted to any XL roof rack.

2). Conduit Rod Box: 4100(L) x 250(W) x 125(H)mm

Made from tough 1.2mm zincanneal steel, the conduit rod box is perfect for the tradesman/technician who requires more than just a PVC conduit carrier. With dropdown doors for easy access, the conduit rod box is powder coated in tough pearl white to match the rest of the XL Bodies fi nish.

3). Crow Bar Holder - Centre Aisle

The XL crowbar carrier can carry 4 crowbars. It comes with a 3mm steel end cap to ensure that no damage occurs to the vehicle in the case of an accident.

4). Telescopic Centre Roof (A-Body only)

Unique to the market, XL’s telescopic centre roof is ideal for those tradesman/technicians needing the fl exibility of a lockable central storage area with the ability to carry a tall item when required.

5). Steel False Floor

Providing 210mm clearance, the false fl oor is an ideal option if you want to keep shovels and spades separate from other items in the central storage area. We recommend a central divider for mounting heavy items in the central storage areas such as water tanks, pumps or generators.

6). Light Bar (lamp not inc)

The XL light bar is ideal for mounting rotating lights, spotlights, aerials and brake lights.

7). Gas Bottle Holders

XL’s gas bottle holders come in a variety of sizes to suit all bottle requirements.

8). Gas Bottle Trolley

The XL Gas Bottle trolley is and is designed to carry 2 D size oxy acetylene bottles. Its sturdy construction makes it ideal for those Plumbers, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Technicians who require their oxy acetylene bottles on site.

9). XL 3 Drawer Toolbox

XL 3 drawer toolbox is the perfect solution for carrying your tools. As with the 6 drawer it is designed to fi t in the centre cabinets, they are made to maximize the area provided.

The XL 6 drawer toolbox is the perfect solution for carrying your tools. Designed to fi t in the centre cabinets, they are made to maximise the area provided. The drawers are made from tough galvanised steel, with high impact rubber mat fl ooring to protect your tools.

XL’s uniquely designed swing up vice is ideally located at the rear of the service body on the passenger’s side. Quick to erect it provides the ideal working platform.

12). Tie Downs (extra)

Tough side-mounted Tie Downs are ideal for securing items stored in the central storage area.

13). Water Tank-Polyethylene 29lt-apron mount-tap in tail light

With the water tank mounted conveniently at the front of the central storage area, valuable space in the central storage area is maximised. The tanks’ tap is mounted to the rear of the service body to allow for easy access.

14). Spare Wheel Holder

For tradesmen and technicians who need the security of an extra spare wheel, XL can supply a spare wheel carrier conveniently mounted in the central storage area.

15). Reverse Camera/ Sat Nav Mirror

Finally and all in one solution that works a treat! Not only does this camera give you peace of mind when reversing it also has a very user friendly Sat Nav system integrated in the reversing mirror. The new model is integrated in the high mount brake light and conforms to Australian Design Rules.

The LoadMaster full width system is ideal for those Contractors who want a full width load carrying system. Extremely strong it is ideal for single cabs. The full length rear roller allows for easy loading of cumbersome objects.

4C LoadMaster Cantilevered

This LoadMaster cantilevered system is ideal for carrying long objects and is well suited to dual cabs and extra cabs. Wide enough to carry sheets of plyboard or plasterboard, the cantilevered front bar provides support over the cabin without extending over the side of the vehicle. The all new XL Styleside Crossbox is an excellent addition to the XL Big Box line up. The Crossbox is a must have for site supervisors who use a style side utility as their daily transport to the job. It’s waterproof and dust proof. It allows you to have total confi dence that your gear is safe from the elements and also safe from theft. The new design has two solid brass Lockwood Padlocks integrated in the door mechanism for assured security. The concealed locks make it impossible to cut the clasp which gives you peace of mind that whatever you have inside your XL CrossBox, it’s secure.
