ABOUT SIVE

SIVE’s aims are to provide continuing education toits members, promoting the progress of equineveterinary science, and the surveillance of equinewelfare worldwide; in an ever changing world SIVEis also very active in monitoring the ethical andpolitical issues of the equine veterinary profession.

THE CONGRESS

The congress, due to the presence of interna-tionally renowned speakers and to the variety ofsubjects of the scientific program, will be aunique educational opportunity for equine prac-titioners from all nations. The XIX Congress willprovide an allround scientific programme with 3parallel tiers of lectures including topics onorthopaedics, surgery, internal and sport medi-cine, reproduction and practice management.The program will also include discussion time,free communications, poster session. A dedicat-ed congress website (www.sivecongress.it)will provide and update information as soon asthis will become available.

INSTRUCTION FOR SHORT COMMUNICATIONS ON SUBJECT AND POSTERS

The Italian Association of Equine Veterinarians (SIVE -Società Italiana Veterinari per Equini) invites authors to sub-mit scientific abstracts for oral presentations of short commu-nications. Papers relating to the most recent studies in clinical andresearch aspects of Equine Medicine and Surgery will betaken into consideration and texts of practical-applicable typewill be particularly appreciated.

For abstract submission please go to the ABSTRACT SUB-MISSION CENTRE at web site http://abstract.evsrl.it/. The system will follow you while filling the fields. To access tothe ABSTRACT SUBMISSION CENTRE it is necessary toget a user name and a password for the EGO System. Should you do not get user name and password please go toEGO Home Page at http://ego.evsrl.it/. Username and password will be sent in 24 hours.The ABSTRACT SUBMISSION CENTRE will follow youwhile filling the following fields:

1. WORK/ABSTRACT TYPE2. TITLE

Title of work must be in CAPITAL LETTER, maximumlength 180 characters including spaces

3. SUBJECT4. ADDRESS FOR CORRESPONDENCE5. AUTHORS6. TEXT AND BIBLIOGRAPHY

Maximum 5400 characters including spaces (unbreak-able). Graphs, images, tables and photos will not be pub-lished.

SUBDIVISION IN CHAPTERSWorks must refer to the subject-matter of the Symposium.The original work must be subdivided into the followingchapters: objectives, materials, methods, results and conclu-sion. The clinical cases must be subdivided intot the followingchapters: introduction, case description and discussion. The statement “results will be discussed” is not acceptable.Abstracts that do not respect these guidelines will not beaccepted.

ETHICAL STANDARDSThe abstract must be based on ethical principles. Therefore itshould be avoided as far as possible the experimental proce-dures and unecessary suffering on animals. Works that don’trespect such ethical principles are automatically rejected.

CONGRESS REGISTRATIONTHE AUTHOR/SPEAKER OF AN ACCEPTED WORK WILLRECEIVE A FREE FULL REGISTRATION.(Registration at the Congress, Pre-registered sector)

DEADLINESWorks must be sent before the deadline of OCTOBER 26th,2012.

COMMUNICATIONS TO THE AUTHORSAbstracts will be evaluated and authors definitely informed byNOVEMBER 20th, 2012 by e-mail.

LANGUAGE AND TIME OF RELATINGThe oral presentation of the abstract can be made in English orin Italian (simultaneous translation will be provided). TWELVE(12) minutes will be given for oral presentations andTHREE (3)minutes will be given for discussion and questions.

POSTERPosters will be considered in case of exceeding acceptedworks presented as short com. The surface area for Posters is1.3 meters high x 0.8 meter wide. At the top of the poster, thetitle, author(s) and affiliation(s) should be printed in letters atleast 5 cm high. The body of the poster should be readable froma distance of at least one meter. Posters should be placed on theBoards with Velcro (provided by the organisation). Where possi-ble Results should be presented graphically. Posters should beput up on the first morning of the conference and will be exhibit-ed for its duration. Special times for discussion of posters will beindicated on the final scientific programme.
