Dear Parents and Students,

We would like to extend to you a very warm welcome to the Xavier International School. We hope that you and your family will enjoy being part of the Xavier International School community. I firmly believe in the philosophy that Education is a Process - Not a Race and a long lasting partnership with parent fraternity as well. The curriculum framework of the School is based around the International Cambridge Programme. Fundamental to the Programme is the recognition that children are natural inquirers who will develop at their own pace and in their own way. We pride ourselves on getting to know each child as an individual in order to help them make progress. The learning opportunities are planned so that all students are challenged appropriately, to work through their difficulties to achieve success. The development of the whole child is at the heart of what we do; learning in the School is about developing personal, emotional and social skills as well as being an intellectual and academic process. We aim to help children find their voice - their own unique, personal significance. We encourage them to think about what their contribution will be in the world - how they will try to make a difference as responsible and engaged members of the school community as well as citizens of the world. Partnership is also about ensuring that you make the school aware of all pertinent background information and raising questions and concerns as they arise so that the teachers can deal with any issues immediately.

I am excited for the opportunity to work with you and your student to provide a productive and safe learning environment that supports student success. Once again, welcome to Xavier International School! I am honored to serve as your principal

Holistic Development Challenging ACADEMICSThe School offers a first-rate academic program educating students in both content and study skills. Taught by experienced, trained, and knowledgeable professionals, Xavier International students are challenged and nurtured. A cutting edge curriculum is bolstered by a robust technology infrastructure. Students leave the School as strong, active learners, fully engaged in their own development.

Competitive ATHLETICS At either the interscholastic or intramural level, athletics is another integral part of a student’s daily experience. Students are challenged to work hard, develop their skills, and have fun, and the School employs a “no cut” policy that allows students to try new sports if they choose. Students learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance.

Creative ARTS The School offers students a structured and sequential studio and performing arts program to develop students’ creativity and appreciation of the arts. Students rotate through a trimester each of music, studio art, and drama, which meet three times a week. During two additional periods a week, Xavier International offers students the opportunity to sing in the chorus or play in a band. Students may also sign up for individual instrument and voice lessons.

Comprehensive ACTIVITIES Students choose from a wide range of exciting, hands on, artistic, and creative activities offered by School. Activities offer students the chance to take additional arts such as theater or dance; write for the school magazine; produce a student newscast; or participate in community service.

Inspired TeachingMotivated LearningTeachers are our school’s lifeblood, Equipped with a depth of knowledge in their respective fields. Our teachers approach each day with passion for their craft and for each of our students. They create an environment where individuals can furnish- challenging and encouraging young learners to stretch their limits. By developing confidence and motivation, they enable their students to meet our rigorous academic expectations.

Lesson plans are designed not only to convey knowledge but also to elevate cognitive functioning. Our demanding and rewarding curriculum promotes lifelong academic and study skills.

Curious MindsCreative ThinkersAs educators, we know we’re on the right track when a school teacher’s biggest problem is not how to get students to contribute to class discussions—it’s getting them to stop.

In a school where everyone is valued, students feel free to speak their minds, show their enthusiasm and share ideas. Our innovative school program uses expanded blocks of class time so students can explore subjects thematically and in depth. Our small, seminar-style classes allow everyone’s voice to be heard.

Academic & Teaching Philosophy

Parent Involvement: Parents acquire and continue to use their parental knowledge and skills through School’s commitment to on-going parent involvement within the student’s school life which;

• allows open and direct communication between parents and teachers on a regular basis,

• encourages parent volunteers to participate in various aspects of school life,

• selects a Volunteer Coordinator and,

• endorses the formation of an “Action Team for Partnership Committee” with a Parent Coordinator.

At Xavier International we firmly believe in combined and parallel growth which is needed for students as much as teachers of individual pupil. As it is an eternal process of evolvement for our teachers and to keep abreast with the changes in the education system and the overall surroundings. This, of course, reflects in their overall quality of teaching. At regular intervals, we conduct the following training for our teachers across all the schools:

Training

Assessment Evaluation of student progress by teachers is a continuous process. In evaluating achievement, teachers examine all facets of student development: homework, participation, tests, project scores, organization and independence are all considered.

Progress Reports are issued by teachers to notify parents of their child’s progress in the interim between report cards or scheduled conferences.

Progress Reports• Are used to recognize improvements and progress in academics or

behavior.

• Let parents know if there are teacher concerns regarding academic progress.

• Communicate with parents an on-going concern, weakness or deterioration.

3-Way ConferencesParent-Student-Teacher Conferences are held through the terms. These conferences provide opportunities for parents and teachers to talk over student progress and gather immediate feedback. We believe that this assists in fostering good working relationships and communication between school and home. Students are also asked to attend and participate in the conferences.

Report CardsReport Cards are issued at the end of each term. Report cards show subject criteria and indicate skill development in these areas. Reports will include a narrative comment by teachers.
