Hey there Key Club Jamaica District!
♫Tis the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la, la la la la♫.
Christmas is here already and I’m extremely excited! I’d like
to extend my congratulations to all the Key Clubbers who
received awards at their school’s Award/ Prize Giving
Ceremony. It is extremely great to see that we are not only
excelling in giving tremendous service to our home, school
and community but we are also excelling in our studies.
Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To
cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy is to
have the real spirit of Christmas. May this Christmas end the
present year on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh
and bright new year. I wish for you lots of love, joy and
happiness for this holiday season and for the upcoming
new year! Have fun reading this issue!

Hey Key Clubbers!
First I must say, I have enjoyed working with you guys since
elected. Your passion and drive for service keeps me going day
after day.
I hope each of you has taken the initiative to do projects
and give back to your community or anyone that needs your
help during the short break. Anything you do could impact
someone’s day, year or life in a way you least expect it. Also,
remember it’s the season to show persons how much you
appreciate them , so do it !
And although school is out, education must not be put to
a halt. Keep your brains active because believe it or not, “as yuh
quint is exam time!“ and it is our duty as Key Clubbers to always
be on top .Please remember DCON & ICON 2013 are just around
the corner so start your preparations!

Hello, Jamaica District Key Clubbers!
Merry Christmas! I hope that you are geared up for a fantastic
holiday season full of family, friends, festivity, and service. My
favorite thing to do during Christmastime is to ring bells for the
Salvation Army; it’s always refreshing to be reminded of how
blessed I truly am. Whenever I get out and ring, I always end up
meeting some fantastic Kiwanians and many cheerful holiday
shoppers. Everything is festive, people are generous, and you
can't help but be excited to spread some holiday goodwill and
cheer. However, my favorite part of ringing bells is that it
reminds me why I serve. It's usually freezing cold outside, shifts
are long, and there are a lot of grumps in addition to the more
festive passersby. Having to put a conscious effort in and will
myself to serve, even when it isn't easy or pleasant, is a very
humbling and grounding experience for me. I don't serve
because it's always rainbows and butterflies, but because I am
committed to leaving someone's life better than I found it, even
when it isn't the fun or convenient thing for me to do.
I hope that this holiday season will remind you why it is that you
serve as well. Thank you for everything that you do, and keep
being fantastic! I am always here for questions; you can

Dear Jamaica District Key Club,
I am sorry I was unable to attend the Key Club week celebration
with all of you! As you may know I live in Northern New York, and
I was affected by the storm! On a happier note I am so excited
to hear about everyone’s participation in the 2012 Key Club
Week!! You guys are amazing and your enthusiasm is
SPECTACULAR! Thank you so much for all of your dedication and
hard work to help define Key Club and make it a household
name! Even though Key Club Week is not every week of every
month, I still encourage you to promote Key Club as much as
possible! Keep wearing Key Club T-shirts and inviting non
members to attend meetings and events! Small things like t-shirts
and signs go a long way! So keep up the spirit and the hard

Serving as the District Governor of Key Club International's largest
geographical district, the great Pacific Northwest District has allowed
me to share the island culture and work towards making Jamaica a

Eliminate Project
Maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) is a deadly and cruel disease, but one that we are well within
reach of eliminating. Kiwanis International has taken on the hardest leg of a difficult journey, providing much-
needed funds for critical vaccinations, education programs, health worker training, and much more.
In 31 countries around the world, maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) can quickly turn the joy of
childbirth into tragedy. MNT kills one baby every nine minutes. Its effects are excruciating — tiny newborns
suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. There is little hope of survival.
And tetanus kills mothers too.
MNT is caused when tetanus spores, found in soil everywhere, come into contact with open cuts during
childbirth. The disease strikes the poorest of the poor, the geographically hard to reach and those without
health care. Maternal and neonatal tetanus is highly preventable. Just three doses of a US $0.60 immunization
protect mothers, who then pass on the immunity to their future babies. Together, Kiwanis and UNICEF can stop
this disease.
UNICEF has helped to successfully eliminate MNT in many countries. But in 31 countries in Africa, Asia,
Europe and North America, it still strikes babies and mothers who have little or no access to health care —
either because they are poor, live in remote areas or are caught in humanitarian emergencies. More funds
and resources are needed to reach all babies and mothers at risk.
More than 100 million mothers and their future babies must be immunized. This requires vaccines,
syringes, safe storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take US$110 million — and the
dedicated work of UNICEF and every member of the Kiwanis family.

March Of Dimes
(Prematurity Awareness Month)
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects,
premature birth, and infant mortality. March of Dimes was founded by our 32nd President, Franklin D.
Roosevelt, in the fight against polio. After the discovery of the polio vaccine, March of Dimes focused their
efforts to improve the health of babies and has been successful with the help and enthusiasm of many
grassroots volunteers.
Since 1978, Key Clubs have hosted fundraising and awareness programs to support the March of Dimes,
raising over $116,000 through fundraisers in 2011 alone! Key Club members, like you, can support the March of
Dimes each semester: in the fall, raise awareness by hosting programs throughout November for Prematurity
Awareness Month and in the spring, raise funds by participating in March for Babies, the March of Dimes largest
annual fundraiser.
Did you know 1 in 8 babies are born prematurely? More than half a million babies are born prematurely
in the United States each year. Premature birth is the #1 cause of death during the first month of life. Even
babies born just a few weeks too soon can face serious health challenges and are at risk for lifelong disabilities,
such as cerebral palsy, lung problems, and vision and hearing loss. November is when the March of Dimes
focuses everyone’s attention on the impact premature birth has on babies and families.
Throughout November, Key Club members can support the March of Dimes mission by educating peers
on the importance of healthy lifestyles through the use of our teen2teen interactive program. Make it a priority
to spread awareness the whole month by dedicating your Facebook statuses and tweets to facts about the
March of Dimes & the serious problem of preterm birth. November 17 is recognized as global Prematurity Day
and your club can do a range of activities to spread awareness about the global problem of preterm birth
they can also dedicate a day to wear purple, the March of Dimes color.

The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within
the Kiwanis International Foundation.
This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by
providing grants for service opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for
higher education. The Youth Opportunities Fund established through a portion of your Key
Club International dues and through the purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships.
YOF grants can help you take action. Look around and identify the things that need to get
done in your school, community or work. Key Clubs have applied for grant funds to support
many varied service projects.

Since its inception in 1925, members of Key Club International have provided countless hours
of service to their homes, schools and communities.
Every Key Club has the authority to select its own service projects because usually there are
many more service needs in a community than there are service clubs and agencies to meet
them. However, all Key Clubs are asked to participate in the Major Emphasis: “Children: Their
Future, Our Focus.”

In 1946, Key Club International challenged all Key Clubs and members to focus energies on
making an international impact. This program still is followed today through the Major
Emphasis: “Children: Their Future, Our Focus.”
To fulfill the mission of the Major Emphasis, Key Club International serves children in many
ways. Members participate in the hands-on service initiative, currently The Eliminate Project,
and fundraise for Key Club International’s preferred charities: Children’s Miracle Network,
March Of Dimes and UNICEF.

By working with Key Club International’s partner organizations, Key Clubs serve children by aiding
other organizations committed to serving children. Key Club International celebrates its three
preferred charities:
Children’s Miracle Network: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) is a
nonprofit organization that raises money to benefit hospitalized kids while increasing
awareness of its member hospitals. All CMN Hospitals contributions directly benefit
hospitals, helping to purchase up-to-date equipment, train staff, conduct life-saving
research, implement outreach programs and provide health care for children whose
parents can’t afford to pay.

extensive resources and leadership to assist in the Worldwide Service Project to virtually
eliminate Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) from the globe.

Overall Key Club Week Report
Key Club Week is an opportunity for Key Clubbers to show others what Key Club is about: service and
leadership. Key Club Week was celebrated by Key Club districts worldwide from November 5 to
November 9, 2012, and the Jamaica District of Key Club International was no different.
Traditionally, Key Club Jamaica starts its Key Club week a bit earlier than the date specified by Key Club
International, and this year the celebrations began on November 2, 2012 with a Mass Meeting. The Mass
Meeting was at St. Andrew High School for Girls from 2:30pm- 4:30pm, and a contribution of $100 was
collected. Key Club Week, DCON and ICON were just some of the topics discussed. Joel Nomdarkham
from the Kingston College Key Club had this to say about the Mass Meeting:
“…the Mass meeting was filled with key clubbers! as in, A LOT!”
The activities continued with a District Project on November 3, 2012. It was at the Wood Hall All Age
School in Clarendon, and Key Clubbers met at 7:15 beside the Burger King bus park. The bus fare was
$800 and lunch cost $200. Activities included renovating the school by painting and cleaning it up.
Members were advised to bring paint brushes, garbage bags, a change of clothes, educational charts,
snacks and water.
On Sunday November 4, 2012, the District held a District Church service at Holy Trinity Cathedral. Key
Clubbers met at Kingston College at 9:45 a.m. with their club banners and then marched over to the
church. After the service there was a road march which began and ended at the church.

After these activities kick started the week, Key Clubs from across Jamaica came up with their own
ideas to fit the different themes for each day of the week. Divisions and individual clubs came up
with fun ideas based on these headings:
MONDAY, NOV. 5 - Show your K in every way
TUESDAY, NOV. 6 - Kudos to the Key players
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 7 - Connect the Ks
THURSDAY, NOV. 8 - Bring a friend to Key Club
FRIDAY, NOV. 9 - Your way
Overall, Key Club week was a fun experience for all involved and was a great start to Kiwanis Month.
We hope to see many clubs involved in next year’s activities!

District Mass Meeting
On November 2, 2012, Key Clubbers from the Jamaica District gathered at the St. Andrew High School for Girls for
the Mass Meeting. It was an opportunity for all the Key Clubbers to come together to celebrate the start of Key
Club week, and to interact with each other. A contribution of $100 dollars was collected from each Key Clubber to
fund the District Project that was held the following day. Topics discussed at this mass meeting included Key Club
Week, District Convention 2013, District Board Positions 2013 - 2014 and International Convention 2013. Key
Clubbers also took the opportunity to invite the various clubs that were present, to their key club week festivities.
There was also a dance competition and the district board participated.
Business Discussed:
Key Club Week
Key Club Week was being observed from Monday November 5, 2012 – Friday November 9, 2012; however the
District’s Project and Church Service were held on Saturday November 3, 2012 and Sunday November 4, 2012
respectively.
District Convention(DCON) 2013 and International Convention (ICON) 2013
District Convention (DCON) 2013 and International Convention (ICON) 2013 were also highlighted. DCON is April 5-
7, 2013, and ICON is July 3, 2013. For District Convention, early bird payment is $7,500; late payment is $9,000 and
on-site payment is $10,000. Also, those running for District positions were asked to give their names. For
International Convention, those who wanted to apply for a visa were encouraged to talk to the District Board.
District Board Positions
Those who wanted to run for district positions were asked to submit their names and contact information so they
could receive the necessary document.
Overall, the mass meeting was a success – it brought Key Clubbers together to have fun and celebrate Key Club
Week, as well as raised funds towards the district project..

Key Club Week 2012 Highlights

District Project: Woodhall All Age School
On Saturday November 3, 2012, Key Club Jamaica District hosted their annual district
project and as usual, the Key Clubbers turned out in their numbers to support the project. They
journeyed to the Woodhall All Age School in Clarendon for a fun-filled day of service. On arrival
everyone assembled in a central area where they were greeted by the school’s principal and
the district board members, after which they changed and got into different work groups.
The male groups performed various tasks such as: uncoiling the barbed wire fence at the
front of the school, plant posts to rewire the barbed wire fence, fill the immense pothole at the
school’s gate and help with the painting of classrooms. The female groups also performed
various activities such as: cleaning the
classrooms, raking the school yard and painting the walls of the class rooms.
In each classroom the walls and desks were wiped, new charts were made and hung up,
the desks were neatly, arranged the floors swept and the walls painted where necessary. On the
corridors the painters got busy as they repainted some of the murals on the wall. After the Key
Clubber finished performing their various tasks to enhance the learning environment at Woodhall
All Age School, a donation of paint, paint brushes, school stationeries and books was made to
the school on behalf of the district by Governor Renisha Daley, after which the principal
expressed his gratitude to us for the outstanding service we performed. The District Project 2012
was indeed a successful one.

District Church Service
Every year, the district mass meeting is followed by a district service project that’s usually not in
the Kingston, St. Andrew area. This year, the district picked Wood Hall All Age in the parish of
Clarendon.
We departed as a district from Burger King, Half-Way Tree in numerous buses that were again
very full with Key Clubbers, Circle K members, Kiwanis members and other members of the K-
family. Parents and friends were also present, ready to provide help, where it was needed.
Firstly, we met with the principal – Mr. Ross, who was very charming and welcomed us happily.
Then, district board members were paired off with a group of Key Clubbers for each pair. Each
group had different tasks and the tasks were sweeping, painting, patching ‘pot holes’ in the
roads, fixing wire, gardening, wiping of furniture, rearranging books and many more!
The district board had great fun working with the Key Clubbers and was very proud to see our
finished ‘product’. The principal commended us for our hard-work and at the end; we presented
him with stationeries, paints and other equipment that would be useful for the running of the
school.
As it was fun on my way to the project, on our way back to Half-Way-Tree was even more fun!
Music was playing, Key Clubbers were talking, some were sleeping and some were even
dancing in their seats. It was an unforgettable district project!

How Some Clubs Spent Key Club Week
Division 1
Convent of Mercy Academy (Alpha)
Key club week at the Convent of Mercy Academy, Alpha was an absolute blast! There was a
Fund Raiser all week selling blue and white ribbons to raise money for our Eliminate Project Fund.
$7000 was raised which we are proud of. On Monday Key Club conducted school devotion
introducing the whole school to key club week and the events planned, and after school we had
an Outdoor Games Day. Unfortunately, on Tuesday no event took place as school ended early.
On Wednesday we had a Horror Movie Day where we watched ‘The Human Centipede’. On
Thursday we had a Netball Showdown between Octagon club and Key club. And lastly we
couldn’t have any ‘in-school’ events since our beloved physics teacher Mr. Campbell passed
away and Friday was declared a day of mourning. However, we supported St. Hugh’s concert
and St.A.T.H.S. concert by splitting our club into two groups and attending both events. Overall
key club week was a success in terms of interaction and service.

Kingston College
Key Club week was truly an enjoyable experience for the club. It began with the district mass
meeting held at St. Andrew High School for Girls, then the district project. The weekend ended with
the district church service which was held at Holy Trinity Cathedral after which Key Clubbers
paraded throughout the surrounding communities. The Kingston College Key Club participated in
various activities throughout the week. On the Monday we played a football match against the
Octagon Club and our key stars completely dominated the game as we flogged them 6-1. Our
find the K competition kicked off on the Tuesday we posted over a hundred of key club k around
the school with the winner receiving a monetary prizes. We didn’t stop there as our essay
competition was a success with over fifty participants expressing their views on how can they, as

Kingston Technical High School
On Monday November 5, Kingston Technical High School had an interclub meeting with Denham
Town High School’s Key Club at their School. We got a warm welcome from the Key Clubbers of
Denham Town High School and we enjoyed our stay.
On Tuesday November 6, we went to a Kiwanian Luncheon at Wyndam Hotel. On Wednesday
November 7, our movie day was cancelled so we had our regular Executive Board Meeting
instead.
On Thursday November 8 our activity of the day was “Find the K”; the person who found the most
K was treated to lunch. Later that day we had a mass interclub meeting with St Andrew
Technical and Denham Town High School. We had approximately 70 members present. The
meeting was extremely fun as we played games, socialized
On Friday November 9, we attend a grand Fund-Raising concert at St Andrew Technical. We had
approximately 40 members present. The concert was a bit short but was worth our money,
because of the hilarious dance acts that took place on that day by Jerome Palmer (President)
and Jahzeal Clarke (Immediate Past President).

St. Georges College
Monday Nov. 5: The cleaning of the windows and the whiteboards was done after school which
started between 3:15- 4:00 pm. We targeted the 5th form and 6th forms blocks, cleaning all
windows and all boards while leaving a “Happy Key club Week” note at the corner of all the
boards. We also sold cupcakes during the lunch period.
Beside the table which was selling cupcakes it was the aim of the club to establish a successful
information booth in which prospective members may receive information about the club. At the
table there will be posters and magazines all advertising key club and the benefits of being a
part of the club. This aided in recruitment as well as help in the awareness of the club in the
school community.
Tuesday Nov. 6: The club made sure that the school, especially those of lower school was aware
that it was key club week. This was done by members of the club by walking around and
greeting people with a friendly way by repeating “Happy Key Club Week” to everyone who they
passed on the school campus. The fundraising (selling of cake and cupcakes) also continued.
Wednesday Nov. 7: On this day the club presented a game to the school. This was called “Find
the K”. In this game 3 of the letter K were placed all over the school and the students and
members were told to find the Ks which would lead to reward. Many persons joined the game in
search of the Ks.
Thursday Nov. 8: On this day our club was visited by a Kiwanian from the Kiwanis Club of Kingston,
Mr. Leo Chung. Mr. Chung spoke about how impressed he was with our club growth and later
focused on attributes that a key clubber should have. After his departure the club proceeded
with our games day in which we played several games.
On Friday Nov. 9: On this day our club went inter-clubbing with several schools, namely, St.
Andrew Technical High School, Wolmer’s Girls High School and St. Hugh’s High School.

St. Hugh’s High School
The official week celebrated in recognition of the Key Club allowed our club
to find creative ways to render unselfish service yearly, guided by a theme for each
day, and for that we would like to tell Kiwanis International a big thank you! This year
Key Club Week was from November 4th to November 10th and each day was
dedicated to a different, specific activity. This year's celebrations commenced with
the club's participation in the annual Key Club District church service. Following this
event was the club's visit to The Learning Center. On Tuesday, four (4)
representatives of the club were in attendance at the Kiwanis' Club of Kingston's
luncheon. The proceeding event was a school clean up where, the "C" Campus and
the Science laboratories were sanitized and on Thursday, the club hosted a games
and picnic event which took place concurrently during the upper and lower school
lunchtimes. Friday's activity was a mass inter-clubbing social event where Kingston
College, Merl Grove High School, Convent of Mercy Alpha Academy and St.
Georges College were in attendance. The week's events ended with a bang at the
Key Club's divisional fun day where members of the club showed their support by
going in numbers.

Ardenne High School
Monday – cookies & cupcakes for cancer: We completely took over the Undercroft on Monday with
our Cookies and Cupcakes for Cancer Bake Sale. We had our ribbons and cookies and cupcakes
(decorated with icing cancer ribbons) ready to raise cancer awareness. When school dismissed, we
were bombarded with sales as everyone was eager to support the Jamaica Cancer Society in their
endeavours.
Tuesday – family feud: On Tuesday, we planned a very fun “Family Feud” competition. After a series of
round-robins, it came down to the “Kardashians” and the “Springahs”. At the end of the riveting final,
we saw the ‘Springah” family coming out victorious. They won for themselves assorted candy and
$100 credit each.
Wednesday – flash mob: In an effort to have some more fun this week, we decided it would be
exciting to have a flash mob. Even though we faced some difficulties, it was still a worthwhile
experience. To draw the crowd we had a fake fight, and this saw everybody running from near and
far to see the “fight”. It was then that we blasted “Gangnam Style” with our mob breaking out in
dance while everyone watched in amazement.
THURSDAY – SWEET ECLIPSE: On Thursday we had a themed bake sale called “Sweet Eclipse”, following
along the lines of a half eclipse with the sale of vanilla items on one side, and chocolate items on the
other. The proceeds from this event will be going towards our projects for the year.
Friday – eliminate social: The ELIMINATE Social was definitely the bang we needed to close our Key
Club Week activities. The student body came out in their numbers to show their support for the
ELIMINATE Project. Good music, good people, good vibes, it was definitely a good time. All proceeds
from this event will be going towards the ELIMINATE Project.

Mona High School
Mona High Key Club kicked off Key Club week with an awesome devotion on Monday
Nov. 5 with representation of LG Durene Tavares and Zone Coordinator DLG Gerthlyn Holman of
the Jamaica District of Key Club who presented the 3rd place bronze level Single Service Key
Club International Award.
On Tuesday we had Kudos for Key Players where all members of the Ancillary, Academic
and Administrative staff along with parents were given token. Special thanks to Prospective
Member Gizzel West.
On Thursday, we had Take a “Friend”/Club to Key Club with a joint meeting with Edna
Manley College Circle K and the Greater Portmore High School Key Club. Some 32 members
attended the away meeting held at Greater Portmore high.
The week ended with our special family and club fun day to Sun Coast Adventure Park in
St. Thomas to enjoy paintballing, basketball, hiking and a great time for fellowship and chilling.
Key Club Week 2012 saw members becoming more interested in Key Club and greater
commitment to service.

Wolmer’s Boys’ High School
Key Club Week for the Wolmer’s Boys’ High School Key Club was being pushed back to
the week of November 12th – 15th due to reasons beyond our control. On the 13th we went to a
boy’s home where we inspired they boys via motivational speeches and helped them with their
homework. On the 14th of November 2012, Wolmer’s Boys School hosted their Mass Meeting to
commemorate Key Club Week. The meeting began at 3:20 pm, accommodating 74 Wolmer’s
Boys KC members, 15 Meadowbrook High KC members, 11 Hydel KC members, 7 Excelsior KC
members and 2 KC members from Merl Grove High School. It was a successful meeting and was
rather paramount to the` smooth sailing’ of our Key Club Week.
The following day, November 15, 2012 a total of 20 members from the Wolmer’s Boys
School Key Club ventured to the Wolmer’s Preparatory School. It was there that we took part in
their Builders Club weekly meeting. It was a fruitful venture as there was much to be imparted
onto the key clubbers of tomorrow, as well as much to be learnt from our younger counterparts.
All in all, it was an excellent week for our Key Club as well as Key Club International. Much
was done to service our home school and community to the best of our ability, and we implore
members to keep up the good work all year round.

St. Catherine High School
After participating in the District’s Mass Meeting, Project and Church Service, the St. Catherine
High School Key Clubbers continued their Key Club week on November 5, 2012 by conducting
general devotion on the senior campus and also by giving their service at the Elim’s Daycare Centre.
Twenty (20) members attended this project. There, we helped out with the children, assisted with the
cleaning of the center and donated toys. On November 6th we held a Joint Meeting, where past
members of the club, Kiwanians and other clubs and societies attended. At the meeting, various
activities were conducted and they were all enjoyed by the members and the specially invited
guests. On Wednesday November 7th, 25 of our members represented us at an interclub meeting with
the Wolmer’s Boys’ High School. Thursday November 8th was the cleaning up of our Key Club Garden
which is an ongoing beautification project as it stands to be our Single Service Project. 30 out of our 55
Key Club members attended this beautification project; we cleaned up the Garden by cutting the
grass, trees, spraying the art work and painting the grilled fence. Finally on the last day November 9th
2012 we held our Installation/Anniversary/Social ceremony. All of our members attended, members
from the district board, Key Clubbers from other schools and societies within St. Catherine High
namely: Interact Club, I.S.C.F, Science Club, Debating Society and Environmental Club. Key Clubbers
from other schools present were: President Mervin James (Jamaica College) and KC Sherese Daley
(Holy Childhood High); members from the District Board Present were: Governor Renisha Daley, DST
Hyekyung Moon, DBE Ijah Brown and LG Durene. Among the Key Clubbers present were Circle K
members (Moneague College), Kiwanian Dane Francis (Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring), Mr. Humber
(zone co-coordinator), President Reynald Leachman (Kiwanis Club of Spanish Town) and DP Frank
Henry (Kiwanis Club of Linstead ).

St. Mary High School
Due to the sudden visit of Hurricane Sandy, the St. Mary High School Key Club was unable to
fulfill its original plan for Key Club Week, which included a walk-a-thon in aid of the Eliminate Project.
However, along with the cleanup projects we carried out during the week, we also hosted a major
food sale in which half of the proceeds went to the school’s Welfare Program and the other half went
to our treasury. At the food sale we sold a variety of food such as: ice-cream, hotdogs, burgers,
popcorn, burger-dogs, rainbow sandwiches and candy.
We also hosted the “St. Mary High School Key Club Hottest Male & Female Contest” where
students had the opportunity to cast votes, for their favourite contestant. Each vote casted was $10.
To conclude our week we had a concert which was held in the school’s auditorium. At the concert,
Key Clubbers and students of the school community wowed us with their talents and so we had a fun-
filled evening. Though our week was not exactly what we had vision, we can truly say it was a success.

Herbert Morrison Technical High School
On the 5th of November we helped in the schools canteen. Nine (9) of our Key Clubbers put in 2 hours
of wrapping lunch forks and spoons, serving lunches, making lines and allowing students in and out of
the different entry and exit ways. We ended our day smiling as each drop of sweat was worth it.
On the 6th of November we journeyed to HEINZ SIMONSTITCH SCHOOL where we had an interclub
meeting with them. The meet was exciting and fun filled.
On the 7th on November we had our display area and booth. We gave information about our club to
the school community. On a display board we had made. We showed the different projects we did
and participated in. a different clubber stayed at our booth throughout the day.
On the 8th of November we campaigned around our school environment for new members. This
campaign was with all clubbers old and new; marching around singing Key Club cheers and
parading our banner. We had horns, whistles and pot covers.
On the 9th of November we ended Key Club Week with a mini concert. At the mini concert various
artists performed and among the many activities that took place was our fashion show. Key Club
Week at Herbert Morrison Technical High School was indeed a success.

Westwood High School
Key Club Week didn’t start the way we expected because due to reasons beyond our control we
were unable to attend the District’s Mass Meeting and Church Service but nevertheless we made the
best of the rest of the week.
Day 1 (November 5): We performed various clean-ups. We cleaned windows, the auditorium, labs
and classrooms. We also raked the gardens and swept the parts of the school grounds. This project
was planned by Director Mikhail Rose, Director Ria Thakurani and Director Kevonique Blake. Thanks to
them as the project was a success.
Day 2 (November 6): We had a movie day and a cake and candy sale. The movie shown was Taken
2 and a total of 60 girls supported this fundraising activity.
Day 3 (November 7): Several activities was done on day three. First we distributed candy to the girls of
the eighth (8th) and tenth (10th) grade . Then we took the task of educating members of the school
community about Key Club. Late in the evening we had our regular Key Club meeting where we did
a treasure hunt, had a bun eating contest, and other fun activities.
Day 4 (November 8): What type of swag do you have?? We have the service swag! Woo!
Unfortunately due to a Spanish concert held at school we could only do one activity. The ninth (9th)
grade girls were given the challenge of making a song/dub/poem about being a “Service Swagger”.
The aim of this activity was to reinforce how important giving service to the home, school and
community was.
Day 5 (November 9): We hosted a movie day for the boarders and we also had a cake sale. The
movies showed were Taken 2 and Joyful Noise. This movie day was success as it was supported by 120
girls.
Key Club Week for the Westwood High School went well. At the end of the week we donated $10, 000
to our school's boarding department to assist in painting the Hostel building.

Division 6
St. Andrew High School for Girls’
Key Club Week at the St. Andrew High School for Girls’ was a fun- filled and serviceable one. On
Friday November 2, 2012 we hosted the District’s Mass Meeting which was great as over 300 Key
Clubbers from the different divisions were present. On Saturday November 3, 2012 we had 21
representing us at the District Project at Woodhall All Age School in Clarendon. There we painted
classrooms, raked the school yard and donated school stationeries. On Sunday November 3, 2012 we
attended the District Church Service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. We were 70 in numbers, one of the
largest delegations present at the church service. During the week we continued our weekly garbage
and white board cleanup and recycling project; along with these activities we did something special
for each day.
Monday Nov. 5 - “Show your K in every way": We placed Ks all over the school and we also gave
to them to students and teachers. At the end of the day we made letters spelling ‘K.E.Y .C.L.U.B
W.E.E.K 2012.’ and took our official Key Club Week photo.
Tuesday Nov. 6 - "Kudos to key players": We had a treasure hunt. The student hunted for K's that
gave them hints to find the hidden letters forming ‘K.E.Y C.L.U.B W.E.E.K 2012’.
Wednesday Nov. 7 - "Connect the K's: We journeyed to the Wolmer’s Boy’s High School where
we had an interclub meeting with them. The meeting was extremely fun as we participated in
the various activities they had planned.
Thursday Nov. 8 - "Do it your way": We held devotion with the upper school, where we told them
about Key Club and the various projects we perform. We were presented with the awards we
won at ICON. Later in the evening a few of our members attended the Kiwanis Club of North St.
Andrew model meeting. To express our sincere gratitude for their years of support we gave them
mugs with sweets.
Friday Nov. 9 - "Bring a friend to key club": We held devotion with the lower school, where we
also told them about key club and the various projects we perform. In the evening we had a
mini social with the Meadowbrook High School Key Club. Some of our members supported the
St. Andrew Technical High School Key Club concert.
Key Club Week at St. Andrew High School for Girls’ was truly a success.
