Thanks for joining us on the O&M journey. We are the original pioneers of a fashion conscious brand that bridges the gap between natural and luxury, that was born in a Sydney hair salon. It’s true to say that hairdressers are some of the most crazy and creative people on the planet and I am honoured to be able to connect with hairdressers from around the world.

JANELLE CHAPLIN O&M GLOBAL CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND OWNER OF O&M.NYC

With almost 20 years of experience in the business, Janelle is the definition of well rounded and fearless when it comes to hair. Having done hair in Australia, the UK, and now the USA; she is not stifled by texture, colour, or style. She is simply well known for making magic happen time and time again. She may be editorially trained but is lifestyle minded when it comes to her clients, giving them something that suits them perfectly and always looks effortlessly lived in.

GARETH MARTIN O&M NATIONAL EDUCATOR & STYLIST

Effortless, uncontrived, with a little bit of swag. Gareth has a passion for all things textural, whether creating strong shapes, or soft billowy silhouettes, he has it down. Hailing from New Zealand, our O&M National Educator has a passion for colouring hair and breaking the rules. Spending his time between creating magic behind the chair, and inspiring others do so, Gareth’s keen eye for style and unconventional way of getting you there will get you thinking outside the box.

DAMIEN RAYNER AND JORGE ALFARO HAIROLOGISTS AND OWNERS OF THE LOCAL SALON

Both came to work together in 2001. Their shared passion and hair ideologies sparked a firm friendship were their paths continually crossing throughout their moves in the industry. Their time together allowed them to bring their individual knowledge, styles and talent to create looks for clients that were harmonious and very much their own.

Jorge moved on to Barney Martin where he fine-tuned his cutting, styling and editorial skills. Winning and several prestigious awards. Jorge then stepped out on his own and created Jorge Alfaro.

Famous for his balayage techniques and natural pre-pubescent colours. Damien worked in New York with Bumble and Bumble and Cutler Salon, then with Dario Cotroneo, heading up his Colour Department.

Realising how much their collaborative work was loved by their customers it became obvious that they had a winning formula. To join forces and to create The Local Salon, bespoke and unique in the Sydney hairdressing landscape.

PAUL GALEA O&M COLOUR GURU

Colour guru Paul has been educating colourists for over 25 years. Trained in Melbourne and London, his broad career has covered product development, innovation as well as education. Paul has been an integral part of the O&M team since 2012 and has worked with the world’s best colour manufacturers and chemists to develop O&M’s next generation of hair colour.

Paul says “My passion for hair and the industry remains as intensely as it did when I started my apprenticeship as a 16 year old”.

New to the O&M family, this in-salon session will get your team on track. Eliminate the freak out and learn how to confidently go from dark to light and everything in between. Learn about pre-colouring, de-colouring and how to effectively use O&M pigments to rectify multi tonal hair. Take the challenge and be a master of the colour spectrum.

CUTTING

Understand hair texture, face shapes, and movement. Want to up your skills in undoing hair? This class is for you, the stylist who feels stuck in structure. It’s not about perfect baselines and layers, you’ve got that. It’s all the fun stuff in between. Join us and we will cover unconventional methods of visual and freehand cutting. Learn new techniques to take out weight, add texture and create a bespoke style for your clients.

Whether guy or gal, we all love a sweet fade. Learn how to use clippers like a boss, knowing when to use guards and when to go free hand. Master your blending skills and create strong shapes. This course covers all things short and clippered.

Our O&M Hair Painting class will give you the confidence to learn the modern techniques of hair illustration. Hair painting covers all bases from Balayage, Ombre, Sombre and ensures you are confident to work with all hair textures, shades and amounts of open air highlighting. Learn how to effortlessly paint your way, using our specific Clay Lightener designed for hair painting techniques only.
