Temperature
should be a red
line
Rainfall should
be displayed as
blue bars
You might
want to use
different units
for
temperature
and rainfall
depending on
the data you
collect. Make sure you look at the correct axis of the graph when plotting your data. You
should have temperature on one side, Rainfall on the other and the date at the

Include a key and title:
For example:
A graph to show the temperature and rainfall in __*insert location*_ between
__*insert date*__ and __*insert date*__

Science Project Task: Christmas Conundrum
Use this IDEAL success ladder to help you:
Task:
Your friend’s family have been setting up their Christmas tree and they
have found that the lights don’t work anymore. They have tried to fix
them but have given up and decided to buy a new set. Your friend’s dad
doesn’t want to spend a lot so he wants to buy some cheap lights that
are wired in series. Your friend’s mum says that she can remember
something about parallel circuits being better but she can’t remember
why.
Explain why lights in parallel would be a better buy.
Date due in: __________________________
I Draw a series and a parallel circuit using symbols.
D Describe the differences between series and parallel circuits in terms of how bright the bulbs are and what happens if one blows
E Explain how the ‘electricity’ travels around both types of circuit
A Use the idea of electrons to explain what happens to them in a circuit
L Give examples of where parallel circuits are used and why series circuits are not used.

Motion and Forces Task
Use this IDEAL success ladder to help you:
Modern Cars Safety
Modern cars are very good a moving people from place to place in comfort but they are also getting better and better at stopping and keeping people safe if disaster happens and they have a crash. Find out how crumple zones, airbags and seat belts use forces to keep people as safe as possible in the event of a crash and design a poster which explains how these features work in modern cars
I Describe what happens to seatbelts, crumple zones and airbags when a crash happens.
D Draw diagrams which show the size and direction of the forces are acting when a car is speeding up, travelling at a constant speed, slowing down gently and doing an emergency stop.
E Explain how the safety features absorb the energy and forces during a crash and how the stopping distance is affected by the speed of a car
A Identify the factors that affect the stopping distance of a car and explain how they can affect the stopping distance
L Find out how passive and active safety features help to keep modern cars safe.
