1.Servingourfellowships
Bywhichwemean:
AlwaysseekingthegoodofeachparishFocussingonpeopleandrightrelationships,notbuildingsorstructuresActinginacollaborativeandmutuallysupportiveway
Wethereforeaimto:
• Listenbeforespeaking• Valueandnurturetheidentityofeachchurch,seekingunityindiversity• Identifywaystosupporteachchurch
o Individually–e.g.duringvacancyorotherneedo Together–e.g.bysharingbestpractice
Wewillbeginby:
Focussingonsupportingtheleadersofeachparish:clergy,licensedministers,wardensandtreasurers,bringingprayer,encouragementandchallengeasneeded.

Bywhichwemean:
ExploringnewwaystogrowinloveandinourcallingEnablingparishestoworkbettertogetherLearningfromeachotherandidentifyingpartnershipsSupporting,unifyingandinspiring:
Wewillthereforeaimto:
MakeChapterandSynodplaceswherewespuroneanotheronasfriendsSeektounderstandbetterthenatureoftheDeaneryasateamIdentifywaysofworkingbettertogetherExcelinDeanerycommunicationSupportallleadersespeciallyTreasurers,Wardens,LLMsandClergy–andparishesinvacancy.
Wewillbeginby:
LeadingachangeofcultureinChapterandSynod,bringingagreatersenseofunityandhopeandestablishingthemasplacesinwhichtobeinspiredbylearningfromothers

2. The Diocesan context
ThecurrentdiocesancontextformissionisbasedaroundLivingFaithwithfivemainthemes:
SustainingtheSacredCentre
MakingDisciples
MakingaDifferenceintheWorld
CreatingVibrantChristianCommunities
ShapingConfident,CollaborativeLeadership
LivingFaithhasbeentheDiocesanframeworkformissionsince2009.ThenewBishopofOxfordhasrecentlybeenappointedandanewframeworkformissionmayfollow.Forthediocese,partofthedeanery’sroleinhandlingthestructuralissuesisidentifyingthemostviablemissioncommunities.Amissioncommunitywouldgenerallyneedtobelargeenough(maybe150-200regularcongregants)tohavesufficientresourcesformissionintermsofpeople,money,facilities,ideas,skillsandsoon.However,noonesizefitsall,andsupportinglesssustainablecommunitiesisalsoapartofthedeanery’srole.Howeverstructured,themissioncommunityistheoperationalmechanismandthelocaldriverofmissioninitsareaofoperation,andeachcommunitywillhavetheresponsibilityforitsparticularmissionopportunities.

3. What is the purpose of the Deanery Plan?
TheDeaneryPlanisthemeansbywhichwedevelopandshare:-ourproactivelong-termplansforgrowthand-ourboldandrealisticplansforshort/medium-termsustainability
ThegoalsoftheDeaneryPlanareto:-
1. Achievesustainableclergydeployment2. RespondtotheneedsrevealedinParishPlans3. Investinwhatgrowsandthenspreadit
Inmoredetail,thismeans:
o Seeingthewidercontextfortheworkofindividualchurchesandmissioncommunitieso Settingouthowwewillworktogetherinmutuallysupportivepartnershipso Agreeinghowourfutureresourcesshouldbedeployedo InfluencingourallocationofresourcesfromtheDioceseo AccountingforourallocationofresourcesfromtheDiocese
SettingouthowwewillalignourworkwiththatoftheArchdeaconryMission&PastoralCommitteeandArchdeaconryPlan
4. How wil l we achieve the Deanery Plan? WecanachievetheDeaneryPlanthrough:

c. Makinggoodplansandcommunicatingthemclearly (TheMissionActionPlanningprocess)
d. Formingmissionfocussedpartnerships (atparish,DeaneryandDiocesanlevel)
e. Deployingourresourceseffectivelyandsustainablytoachievetheseplans
(clergy,vocations&parishshare)
f. EnsuringthatSynod(anditstwosubcommittees),Chapter,ParishVisitations,ChaplaincyandChurchSchoolpartnershipsandVacancyplanningareallalignedwiththeseobjectivesandwaysofworking.

5. Where are we now? Aswelookatourcurrentsituation,wewanttostartwithanhonestassessmentofourownplansandresources.WeareguidedbythebiblicalprinciplethatGodprovidesallthatweneed.Weaimtodistributeandshareleadership(intheshapeofclergyandlicensedlayministers)andfinances(intheshapeofParishSharecontributions)insuchawaythateverychurchwithintheDeaneryisabletoachieveitsSpirit-inspiredgoals.
