The fall of Berlin wall was twenty-two years ago. 1961, was when the Berlin Wall was built. The Wall was erected in 1961 because more than 2.6 million East Germans escaped to West Berlin. The actual population was about 17 million. The first part of the Berlin Wall was made of concrete blocks with barbered wire on the top. People in Germany were really cruel and mad at this time point. Another reason is that there were some Jews in East Berlin. Berlin Wall from barrier surrounding West Berlin and symbol the Cold War. The citizens of Germany who did this mean stuff to people were called the Germans. The Germans were people who lived and worked in Germany. Also, the Germans do not speak our language.

The Berlin Wall was put up to separate the East of the Berlin city to the West of the Berlin city. The Berlin Wall was 3.6 meters tall. The Berlin Wall was put up to surround West Berlin because; the Germans were not really doing as the governor says. The life in the West was much better than the life in the East after 1948. The Berlin wall helped the Germans not to go to war. It helped because; the wall separated from the East to the West and could not be knocked down at the time. In 1981 the Berlin wall was knocked down so that people could go to the East to the West.

Causes

Since people couldn’t get through, the Germans were really angry. The Germans probably brought out weapons like guns, swords, bombs, and knives. The German Police would have to keep people under control or take them to jail. Also, the Germans would have to be stopped because of their rage. Aunts and Uncles that live on the opposite side each other can no longer see each other. That would mean no parties and celebrations.

Now that the wall is up, mail could not be delivered throughout the city of Berlin. Also, food could not be delivered or shipped to any of the shops.

People who owned shops would probably go out of businesses. People would not be able to travel throughout the whole city of Berlin. Also the Germans could not go shopping for certain supplies. The Germans could not go to work. That would make the Germans salary go down and not be able to work anymore.

Effects

Now that the Berlin wall is knocked down, people were back in business, dads, moms, Uncles, and Aunts would get more money. Also, people wouldn’t start to starve like they used to. Families could travel throughout the city now. The Germans can visit friends and families. People could go shopping for things they need.

Businesses could be back in business. Food could be delivered to shops, malls and other buildings. German shops could also start selling new products. People could go to parties and celebrate. This made the Germans happy.

Why this is important to American history.

The Berlin Wall was not in its entirety important to the US in a large way, any trade that they had with East Berlin would have been interrupted and also the

wall stopped many skilled workers leaving the Soviets to work for the Allies.
