THE ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT WITHIN THE PROCESS OF UNIVERSITY REFORM
There is no legal frame for the implementation of the Bologna Process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which means that the new Framework Law on Higher Education has not been adopted yet.
Nevertheless, the universities in BIH are trying to apply, on their own, the Bologna principles within various educational planes.

THE ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT WITHIN THE PROCESS OF UNIVERSITY REFORM
In the year of 2005 the University has taken on several new projects, such as:· Distance Learning and Modeling of Virtual Universities;· Teacher Training in the Area of Information Technology in Accordance with European Standards (ECDL), · Tempus project: 'Quality Assurance System at BiH Universities' · Tempus project: 'Management of University International Relations Services'

GENERAL CRITERIA FOR DEVELOPMENT OF NEW CURRICULUM:
Three-tier organization of the courses (4+1+3);Number of courses per semester is 5, plus one elective course; each course should last one semester only;Weekly class load should not exceed 25;Practical exercises should comprise 60% of all classes;More time needs to be spent on the introduction of computer literacy and on the learning of foreign languages;

GENERAL CRITERIA FOR DEVELOPMENT OF NEW CURRICULUM:
Interdisciplinary subject matter needs to be introduced;Curriculum has to express flexibility through modulation of the curricula, with a possibility of broadening of an area by way of application of the credit system;During the realization of teaching process, students need to be guided and given assistance, not only given lectures;Emphasis needs to be laid on both partnership and cooperation with the users of the faculties’ services.

1. Regular class and attendance of activities 6
2. Type 1 homework doing, 2 assignments x 2% 4
3. Type 1 test making, 2 tests x 4% 8
4. First quiz evaluation 20
If p2+p3+p4 12 the student passes this part of the examination, grade I
5. Type 2 homework doing, 2 assignments x 2% 4
6. Type 2 test making, 2 tests x 4% 8
7. Second quiz evaluation 20
If p5+p6+p7 12, the student passes this part of the examination, grade II
8. Final knowledge testing 30
Student sits for final knowledge test if he/she has both grades, I and II.

AN EXAMPLE OF ACTIVITY EVALUATION AND KNOWLEDGE TESTING – MAXIMUM OF 100%
If grade I is a failing grade, the student cannot take the second quiz – i.e. activity 7.
Instead, a student takes the whole first part of the examination.
Passing grade on this part of the examination enables the student to enter the final knowledge testing.
7а. First part of the examination, grade P 70%
If P = 0.5 p3+0.5 p6+p7a 42 the student passes this part of the examination.

THE EVALUATION OF STUDENT LOAD
1. Introduction of courses
One can distinguish non-modulated systems (each course is considered separately) and modulated systems (several courses with the same number of ECTS credits, 5 for instance).
The load per course is determined on the basis of defined individual work assignments, which the student is expected to do in one course. Work assignments are defined in accordance with the knowledge, skills and competence that the student is expected to gain through the course.

THE EVALUATION OF STUDENT LOAD
2. The activities on the basis of which student
load is estimated
Each course is based on certain teaching
activities- work obligations.
Teaching activities: lectures, theoretical exercises, practical exercises, laboratory exercises, computer exercises, controlled project assignments, etc.

UNIVERSITY OF EAST SARAJEVO
THE EVALUATION OF STUDENT LOAD
Learning activities and preparations: lecture and exercise attendance, specified short tests, practical and laboratory exercises, book and magazine reading, learning how to analyze other students’ work critically, how to find literature on the Internet.
Knowledge testing: oral examinations, written examinations, tests, quizzes, oral presentations, continual assessments through tests during practical exercises, etc.

UNIVERSITY OF EAST SARAJEVO
THE EVALUATION OF STUDENT LOAD
The teacher decides on what the necessary time for each activity in the teaching process should be. Total estimated time should be equivalent to the number of ECTS credits per given course.
3. Students’ opinions on the estimated loadThere are various methods for testing whether the estimated load is appropriate.
Tuzla, 16-17/02/2006 Page 43
UNIVERSITY OF EAST SARAJEVO
THE EVALUATION OF STUDENT LOAD
Anonymous questioners are usually used: students fill in those while their course is still in progress or after it is finished and examinations passed.
4. The change of load or teaching activities and obligations
If it is determined that student load is not estimated well while teaching process is still underway, load (ECTS credits) and/or teaching activities and obligations should be changed.

PROBLEMS REGARDING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ECTS
PROBLEM OF THE BIGGER NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN RELATION TO THAT OF THE TEACHERS:
HOW TO ACHIEVE QUALITY TEACHING PROCESS?
THE NON-EXISTANCE OF SIGNED PROTOCOLS ON STUDENT EXCHANGE - THIS PREVENTS THE ECTS CREDITS TO BE IMPLEMENTED EFFICIENTLY,FINANCIAL PROBLEMS, ETC..
