2007-2009  MECAVENIR Puteaux (BTS 1er et 2ième année) FranceMy students were in a program that alternated studies and on the job training.My job was to prepare them to pass their oral exam in English. I had to choose my ownmaterials, test them and create mock oral exams. I was hired by The French Board ofExaminations to be one of their examiners.

The results were very positive for I used all my skills to breachthe gap so that the weaker students were not left behind. I also created a choir, taughtthem to play baseball, got them involved in community work and organized an exhibiton the origins and evolution of Afro-American music.

1991-1992 European Infant Academy, Saint-Maur (bilingual kinder garden)I adapted the French school program to work a class of 3 and 4 year olds in English allday so that by the end of the year the children sang, counted and had a very solid basisfor becoming bilingual.

Adomlingua, Paris: I coached a top executive in Invest In France Agency, agovernment institution that provides free services to foreign companies set up or wishing to be set up in France. She needed to be able to make, present herself,Speak about French culture, explain the services offered, write emails and make

 presentations to try to attract new companies to France.

I coached a medical researcher from INSERM to help her prepare to give a veryimportant presentation of her research work on alcohol before the US Social SecurityPanel. We translated her entire presentation from French to English and she role

 played it until it she was at ease with it. Her presentation was a success.

I coached a young student who had to pass an entrance exam to one of the most elitistGrande Ecoles in France. I taught her reading strategies to help her read articles fromTime, Newsweek, etc., and organize the information. I then coached her through her 

 blockages until she could present anything. She got into the most prestigious of theFrench Grande Ecoles.

2006-2007  Communicaid, Paris: (substitute teacher) I gave group classes to lab technicians at the pharmaceutical company Novartis and to financial executives at Eurosales.

TRANSLATIONS / SIMULTANEOUS TRANSLATOR 

I recently translated the entire webpage of an online boutiqueI have translated hotel brochures, technical documents, business letters, presentations andI am presently translating a Breviary for Medieval Knights.

I was the simultaneous translator for a 6 hour radio show on Bahamian traditional musicthat was recorded live for France Culture with the musicologist Daniela Langer during a

8 day trip to the Bahamas in 2000 (Nassau, Andros, Cat Island, San Salvador) for nationwide broadcast on Surpris Par la Nuit.

WRITER - COMPOSER - SINGER 

I have written and composed songs that appear on my first album « A Bahamian InParis » (visit myspace/missdianahamilton)I created a trio in Paris to sing Bahamian Rhyming Spirituals and performed there under the sponsorship of the France Culture radio producer and musicologist Daniela Langer.I have perfumed on stage mostly in France for the past eight years.I promote my concerts, recruit musicians, find bookings and decide on the repertory and

 band members. French radio and TV stations as well as Charles Carter have interviewedme on Island fm and very favorable press reviews.

I am presently working on a new album as well as on a project to bring a group of Bahamian rake’n’scrape musicians to perform with me in France this.

I write children’s stories and short stories

EVENTS AND LANGUAGE WORKSHOP ORGANIZER 

I created an association called Chick Charny’s to promote Bahamian culture in France I

organized Silent way workshops in Paris for teachers and students wishing to learnEnglish.

I ran an event in a café in Paris called Café Coup de Cœur. My guests were people whohad an extraordinary passion and they came to share it with the public.
