DESIGN RESEARCH:PERSONAS & STAKEHOLDER MAPS
To understand users, designers hone in on what users first find desirable. Once they can identify what people want, testing and verifying prototypes becomes easier too. For this, qualitative research geared towards understanding the goals, problems, needs or wants, and behaviors of users is conducted, and see if similar patterns emerge across many users.

I would like to get to work on time in the
morning
I’d like to be woken up on time or I need a
reminder for where my things are
I always get up late or I can’t find my things
in the morning
I always turn the snooze off on my
cellphone and go back to sleep
Stakeholder MapsIt is usually a good idea to make a list of and map out all the people who will be involved in both using your product\service, or will be affected by it directly or indirectly. Stakeholders can include clients, donors or funders, employees, etc. Once you have everyone down, start prioritizing: who will be your primary user, who are secondary users, and so on.
STAKEHOLDERS
Most to Least Important
PersonasPersonas are a particular archetype that designers develop from studying their users. Personas highlight the different ways people will use products or do certain things. Personas show what the concerns, motivations, behaviors, frustrations and expectations of their users might be.
