Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A: Personnel Qualification and Certification in Nondestructive Testing

(2006) provides guidelines for employers to establish in-house certification programs for the qualifica-

tion and certification of nondestructive testing personnel. Since 1966, employers have used this

industry-valued document as the general framework for their NDT certification programs. The newly

approved ANSI Standard, ANSI/ASNT CP-105: Training Outlines for Qualification of Nondestructive

Personnel (2006), replaces “Recommended Training Course Outlines” in Recommended Practice No. SNT-

TC-1A: Personnel Qualification and Certification in Nondestructive Testing (2001) and is included with the

SNT-TC-1A (2006). ANSI/ASNT CP-189: ASNT Standard for Qualification and Certification of Nondestructive

Testing Personnel (2006) is also now available as a package with ANSI/ASNT CP-105 (2006). This revision

provides updated training and certification requirements for Level I, II and III personnel.
