“Joey,” the life-size horse puppet star of War Horse, made his way down Biscayne Boulevard to meet and greet a group of nearly 40 Miami students at the Center’s Thomson Plaza for the Arts, as part of an educational event featuring hands-on experience and understanding of how to create characters through puppetry techniques employed in the Tony Award-winning production.

More than 100 elementary and middle school students learned about dancing and making healthy life-style choices while participating in a Hip Hop Against Obesity Residency and Workshop led by members of RHAW, in conjunction with the company’s performances in the Carnival Studio Theater.

Family and friends of District 24 students gathered at the Arsht Center, where 139 visual art works were displayed representing 97 high school students participating in the Congressional Art Competition. Ten awards were given with a special presentation by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson to the top student. This is the third year the Arsht Center partners with the Congresswoman to host the Congressional Art Competition.

Arsht Center Vice President of Marketing Andrew Goldberg, center, joined former and present Arsht Center interns, now numbering 200, for the 2nd annual Intern Reunion. Guests socialized with friends and mentors before being treated to a performance of the Center’s 2014 summer blockbuster show, H2OMBRE.

Twenty South Florida actors were chosen to participate in an Actors’ Master Class with Kevin Spacey. The participants, who had all previously appeared on Arsht Center stages, worked with Mr. Spacey on monologue choice and presentation, techniques and feedback on characterization. The four-hour master class was presented in conjunction with the Adrienne Arsht Center 8th Annual Gala featuring Kevin Spacey.

Before their Knight Concert Hall performance, members of The Dirty Dozen Jazz Band jammed with a Miami-Dade jazz student as part of Jazz Roots: Sound Check, the Arsht Center education program that reaches more than 1,000 students annually.

More than 200 people, including Miami-Dade County and City of Miami commissioners, business leaders and entertainment celebrities, congregated in the Knight Concert Hall Lobby to hear international soccer legend David Beckham, above with Arsht Center President and CEO John Richard and Performing Arts Center Trust Chairman Mike Eidson, speak about his plans to launch a Major League Soccer team in Miami.

Young students enjoyed Arsht Families' elf hat-making workshop and meet-and-greet with the cast of the smash hit Elf, joining the more than 10,000 learners of all ages in our community served by Arsht Center workshops, master classes and residencies.
