• The Waterfall Chart: • When to use: Analyzing components of a trend or
variance.• Speedometer Gauge:
• When to use: Mapping output against predetermined criteria.

Waterfall Chart
• Also known as a bridge chart.• Useful to emphasize just the
delta portion of a periodic time series between start and end points. Classic use case: cash flow across time.
• Well-suited to display the contributions of different variance components. We will build a budget analysis example together.

Waterfall Chart• The waterfall chart is a combo chart consisting of two columns for the budgeted
and actual net income, two line graphs displaying the adjustment to budgeted net income driven by each account category, and a scatter graph to provide data labels for the adjustments.
• The financial data needed from the data warehouse are provided in the "To Build" tab: the budgeted net income, the actual net income, and the variances by account category that contribute to the difference.
• Note that the budget net income plus the variances ties to the actual net income. This exemplifies data validation required pre-visualization required for successful charting.
• The completed template can be reviewed on the "Completed" tab. Results for parameters SUS/202103 are available on the “Published” tab.

Speedometer Chart
• Staple of business performance dashboards.
• Used to display results against predetermined measurements in a visually compelling form.

Speedometer Chart• The speedometer chart is a combo chart can be constructed with many
variations. Our version is a combo chart consisting of two doughnut charts and a pie chart.
• Once the gauge structure has been set up it can be reused easily with mapping to different performance indicators.
• The Google analytics data needed from the data warehouse are provided in the "To Build" tab. It consists of statistics by referral source, with referral source as a parameter.
• The completed chart template is available on the "Completed" tab. Results for parameter “Google” are available to review on the “Published” tab.
