• Develop a modular/reconfigurable vehicle to support first responders – non traditional users

• Develop a modular, light weight system for first responders – to be complimentary with current robots

• Single chassis with interchangeable top plates supporting various missions

• Modify EOD BomBot military IED/UXO counter-charge delivery system

Basic Expendable System - EOD

• EOD BomBot– Government Design Developed by AFRL Robotics

Group– Kit configuration 6 vehicles, 2 OCUs with spares

kit – Detect and neutralize IED/UXOs - expendable with

no logistics trail– Initial order for 309 kits with 483 spare vehicles – Additional USMC EOD for 29 kits– Government Program of Record– Issues sloppy suspension, poor video

performance, 30 minute mission duration, OCU on tray easy to lose parts

– Good idea no program flexibility for changes

Special Operations

• SOFBot (UXO RCV –XM2)– Robotics R&D group modification for SOF

customer funded by EOD/LIC for 14 kits – Kit configuration 6 vehicles with 2 OCUs– Primary use to detect and detonate IED/UXOs,

again expendable with no logistics trail– Design Differences

• military batteries – run time of over 2 hours• New video transmitter/receiver – range of 1200 feet LOS• drive train modifications; suspension locked in place,

differentials, metal drive shafts and new transmission – Requirement generated by USASOC
