ASH
• Ash grows throughout the entire eastern United States• Sapwood is light-colored to nearly white and the heartwood varies from greyish
or light brown, to pale yellow streaked with brown• Popular for food containers because the wood has no taste• Noted for stability - it is less subject to twist, warp and dimensional change than
most of our native hardwoods• Wood is generally straight-grained with a coarse uniform texture• Heavy, strong, hard and stiff

ASPEN
• Lumber is produced principally in the northeastern United States• Aspen does not split when nailed, it machines easily with a slightly fuzzy surface• The heartwood is grayish white to light grayish brown, sapwood is lighter
colored and merges gradually into the heartwood without being clearly marked• Usually straight grained with a fine, uniform texture• Lightweight, soft, generally low in strength
ALDER
• Grows along the Pacific coast between Alaska and California• A relative of birch, alder is almost white when freshly cut but quickly changes on
exposure to air, becoming light brown with a yellow or reddish tinge• Heartwood if formed only in trees of advanced age and there is no visible
boundary between heartwood and sapwood• The wood is fairly straight-grained with a uniform texture• Moderately light weight and intermediate in most strength properties

WHITE OAK
• Grown primarily in the South, South Atlantic and Central States• White oak is mostly straight-grained with a medium to coarse texture, with longer
rays than red oak and it therefore has more figure• Sapwood is light-colored; heartwood is grayish to light and dark brown• Heavy, somewhat greater than red oak• Heartwood pores are usually plugged with tyloses, which tend to make the
wood impenetrable by liquids - good decay resistance

PLYWOOD, BAMBOO COUNTERTOPSFIR PLYWOOD
• A-C plywood is a sanded panel with A-grade face, C-grade back and C-grade inner plys bonded with exterior glue - commonly used in high-moisture applications where the appearance or smoothness of only one side is important
• C-D plywood is a touch-sanded panel with C-Plugged-grade face, D-grade back and inner plys bonded with interior or exterior glue
• Marine Grade panels are manufactured with the same glueline durability requirements as other Exterior panels (APA) but with more restrictive veneer quality and manufacturing requirements - it is particularly suitable for marine applications where bending is required

MEDIUM DENSITY OVERLAY (MDO)
• MDO plywood is produced with a resin-impregnated fiber overlay designed for rapid, even paint application
• The overlay is smooth and generally opaque, although it may show some evidence of the underlying wood grain
• A preferred panel for applications where long-lasting paint or coating perfor-mance is required
• An exterior-type panel made with only 100% water resistant adhesive• MDO is produced with B-grade face and back veneers and C-grade inner plys• Easy to work using ordinary shop tools

PARTICLEBOARD
• Particleboard is a composite panel product consisting of cellulosic particles of various sizes that are bonded together with a synthetic resin or binder under heat and pressure
• Particle geometry, resin levels, board density and manufacturing processes may be modified to produce products suitable for specific end uses
• At the time of manufacture, additives can be incorporated to impart specific performance enhancements including greater dimensional stability, increased fire retardancy and moisture resistance
• The American National Standard for Particleboard (ANSI A208.1) is the North American industry voluntary standard - it classifies particleboard by density and strength and covers physical, mechanical and dimensional characteristics as well as formaldehyde levels

MEDIUM DENSITY FIBERBOARDMEDIUM DENSITY FIBERBOARD (MDF)
• Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is widely used in the manufacturing of furniture, kitchen cabinets, door parts, mouldings, millwork and laminate flooring
• MDF is a composite panel product typically consisting of cellulosic fibers combined with a synthetic resin or other suitable bonding system and joined together under heat and pressure - additives may be introduced during manufacturing to impart additional characteristics
• The surface of MDF is flat, smooth, uniform, and dense• The homogeneous density profile of MDF allows intricate and precise machining
and finishing techniques for superior finished products• Stability and strength are important assets of MDF, which can be machined into
complex patterns that require precise tolerances• The American National Standard for Medium Density Fiberboard (ANSI
A208.2) is the North American industry voluntary standard - It classifies MDF by physical and mechanical properties and identifies product grades
• Specifications identified in the Standard include physical and mechanical properties, dimensional tolerances and formaldehyde emission limits

THERMALLY FUSED MELAMINETHERMALLY FUSED MELAMINE (TFM)
• Made by fusing a resin-impregnated sheet of decorative paper directly to a substrate
• It is the same paper used in the production of HPL (high pressure laminate) but is not paired with kraft paper
• Heat and pressure activate the resin in the saturated TFM sheet, creating a cross-linked bond with the substrate, effectively sealing the substrate
• Particleboard and MDF are ideal substrates for TFM because they are consistent, uniform in strength and free of defects
• Melamine surface textures are created with steel press plates that emboss the decorative overlay to heighten the realism of wood grain, stone or abstract designs - steel press plates are also used to create or control the gloss level of the surface

KERFKORE
• Kerfkore is a substrate that allows horizontal or vertical grade laminates, metals, 2-ply and phenolic backed veneers to be laminated flat and then formed into virtually any shape without stress cracks, delamination or telegraphing
• Provides for smooth and symmetrical inside and outside radii up to 3-1/2”• Saves time and improves quality by laminating and sanding flat prior to bending• It is dimensionally stable and holds its shape when formed with a series of
horizontal ribs• The face is a black latex impregnated paper• Ideal for production environments

FLEXBOARD
• Flexboard is a bendable substrate with a hardboard face that can be formed first and laminated last
• A low-cost alternative to bending plywood for radius fabrication• Flexboard provides 10” radius fabrication quickly and easily with no sanding,
patching, multiple layers, special installation, or odor• Can be bent and attached to a ribbed frame easily with staples, nails and glue• Standard particleboard core and a .080” thick hardboard face• The hardboard surface is ideal for painting or laminating paper, vinyl, veneer,
HPL, and metal• Flexboard’s stable hardboard face allows for the pre-lamination of a single-ply
veneer or thin paper-backed veneer by use of a cold or hot press prior to forming• The panel can be processed flat for machining and sanding before forming into
the finished shape

TIMBERFLEX
• Offers a multitude of advantages over conventional bending methods including less labor, no veneer checking or telegraphing, elimination of sanding, patching and laying up multiple layers of plywood
• Very flexible and will not spring back therefore creating a very uniform curve• Timberflex is the first and only high-quality 3/4” bendable panel that has a
three-ply Italian popular face ready to paint or laminate without the need for patching or sanding
• Can bend to a 5” radius and are perfectly flat without dips, valleys and hard spots often found in bendable plywood
• Timberflex is dimensionally sized to have the same thickness throughout to assure excellent seam hiding characteristics
• Timberflex is the preferred product for use in traditional and custom fabrication by first forming the panel to the desired shape and then laminating last with the specified face material
• There is no need for any surface preparations as the product is designed so even a novice can create uniform and high quality curved items

ECONOKORE
• An economical substitute for bending panels that saves time - no sanding or patching required
• No surface preparation - high density overlay provides smoother, more symmetrical laminating or painting surface
• No warping or twisting - 2-ply construction is a more stable and balanced panel• No size variation - econoKORE is sanded and calibrated for consistent size and
thickness• No special tools or installation steps needed - Install using traditional fabricating
tools and methods
