EUROPE’S FINEST WURLITZER ORGAN, ALMOST LOST WHEN ITS FORMER HOME WAS DEMOLISHED, HAS BEEN LOVINGLY RESTORED BY THE CINEMA ORGAN

SOCIETY AND IS NOW HOUSED AT TROXY IN THE HEART OF EAST LONDON.

Wurlitzers, which can play the sounds of an entire orchestra, were part and parcel of the heyday of cinema and used to provide the soundtrack to silent movies. Ours was originally part of the huge Trocadero Cinema at Elephant and Castle.

When that building was demolished the organ had a lucky escape and was housed in the University of the South Bank for 25 years before it was decided it should be part of a live events venue once again. A stunning instrument deserves a stunning setting and once it had been restored, a process that took six years, we were delighted to welcome it into our building.

Corporate and charity clients, such as Cancer Research UK and the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation, have put the Wurlitzer to good use while holding large-scale events at Troxy.

The Wurlitzer is available for:

• Award ceremonies• Background music at receptions• Recitals• Film scores• Choir performances

WURLITZER ORGANEUROPE’S FINEST WURLITZER THEATRE ORGAN

IN AN ORIGINAL 1930S VENUE

You won’t spot the Wurlitzer when you walk into Troxy, the console and its four keyboards are tucked away in the Grand Hall and the incredible 1,700 pipes which range in size from 1 inch to 16ft and produce its wonderful music are hidden behind our art deco facade.

Dubbed the ‘one-man orchestra’ the Wurlitzer is capable of playing any type of music from Bach to the Beatles and is designed to imitate

many different orchestral sounds and features real percussion instruments including cymbals, xylophone, marimba and a full-size piano.

Our Wurlitzer is not only fully restored but is one of the finest of its kind and whether it’s for background music at awards, walk-in music at a wedding or to accompany a movie screening, its awe-inspiring sound is still heard in our art-deco venue throughout the year.

For details of how this incredible instrument can add a unique touch to your event speak to one of the team at Troxy at [email protected] or 0207 790 9000.
