FASHION'S MY LIFE FML

ERINNEEL

I want you to know that I jump ahead frequently. I cross my fingers and dive in, pressing all my hope into something brilliant and burning. I get scared, close my eyes and ramble for hours. I am never sure of anything, but I do know that I am finding myself completely terrified of this, of you, of finding myself, of honesty - but it feels right and that's all that matters. Perhaps this can be a moving picture. Maybe sometimes she leaves the room, talks to people and tries to locate the broken rungs of the rope ladders that bridge the chasms between her and them. She knows a lot of people and has a few good friends. She walks alone to a pebble beach and stares at the sea. Attends work and tries to care about the opinions of the dead. Around every corner salvation waits for her with a tipped hat and a lone flower, but somehow their paths never meet.

Loneliness is not a dark cave devoid of air. It is not a cold soul buried alive beneath the wet winter earth. Loneliness is in the

disconnections, in the everyday avoidance of things. Loneliness is in the words that are spoken but not heard. Loneliness is the inevitable consequence of an overly complex brain, a search for a thing you cannot name, a stagnation, a solemn weight that lets you stand with bent legs. Loneliness is getting on with things, keeping calm and carrying on. Loneliness is people you know who frequently smile in public. It is a primal howl that is lodged in the throat, a flinching, a shiver, a master of disguise, the awkward ache in silence that falls after a joke told isn’t funny.

"You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed." A part that has already been swallowed by the fox. In reality, witty sayings prove nothing: I can't put into words who I am, or what I am worth, use your imagination.

SONNYMOECKEL

When a long time musician out of Nashville, was asked to fill in last minute at a wedding, a magical bond was formed. That of a camera and the artistic visuals of Award winning Photographer, Sonny Moeckel. In Just a few short years of taking on the realms of the Photog-raphy world, Sonny has already garnished such accom-plishments of having his work published in magazines, winning multiple awards and currently shooting his first yet to be published book.

Born and raised on the Navajo Reservation, Sonny who is half Navajo and Jicarilla Apache travels throughout the country working with a wide range of clients producing his signature style of photography. "I view the art of fashion photography as a subtractive process, a distill-ing of reality into a personal vision. As such I often use the tools of modern photography to try to capture in an image the emotions I felt at the moment I tripped the camera's shutter."

Sonny currently resides in Spokane, Wa. with his two sons Brandon & Chase.

FEATURED ARTIST WTF

What influences your art work? There are so many things that influence my artwork but i feel like it is mainly inspired by women and all the ways they are seen in life. I also like to include bright colors, rhinestones, my love of cartoons, pin up, and horror movies.

What themes do you pursue?I work on creating images that make people feel something, hopefully happy when they it. I also cre-ate a lot of my paintings in a way that people can make their own decisions about what it is and possi-bly see themselves in it.

What is your dream project?I would love to work on a large multi piece artwork that could be seen in a larger venue or art museum.

ON LOCATION WTF

Cabo San LucasCabo San Lucas, commonly called Cabo, is a city at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. Cabo San Lucas together with San Jose Del Cabo is known as Los Cabos.

Cabo has been rated as one of Mexico’s top five tourist destinations. It is known for its beaches, scuba diving locations, the sea arch El Arco de Cabo San Lucas, and marine life and whale watching. The Los Cabos Corridor has become a heavily-trafficked holiday destination for tourists, with numerous resorts and timeshares along the coast between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

Located at the tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez at the iconic Land’s End arch (El Arco), Cabo San Lucas is all about non-stop action, sizzling nightlight, celebrity sightings, gorgeous beachs and world-class sportfishing girded by luxurious amenities and astonishing natural beauty.

We were fortunate enough to spot this Russian beauty featured in our summer fashion editorial along the famous beaches of Cabo fronting the Casa Dorada Hotel in Cabo San Lucas.

Victoria Neamtu graced us with her presence in the early morning to welcome the rising sun.

RUNWAY RENEGADES

ASSASSIN APPARELDESIGNER: KADRA EVANSI have always had a passion for music but since I don't have a musical bone in my body, I needed to find a way to express my passion in a new and creative way. With the help of my cousin, Ronnie Ryno and her local artists' clothing store Glamarita Clothing and Accessories, I've been able to use clothing and painting as my creative outlet, through my personal line Assassin Apparel. Assassin Apparel has always been loosely based on album covers, einsignias and has had an over all musical vibe. I incorporate music into most of my pieces through freehand reconstructions of album covers and scripting lyrics. Through the friendships I have made since my inception into this artistic atmosphere, I have made connections with local artists that has allowed me to itroduce a live music venue inside Asia restraunt on the south hill, where I am the manager. Meeting these local artists has continued to increase my respect for the music industry and my excitment for creating a line for this years Runway Renegades.

This year I am adding fame to the Walk of Shame! Ever have that uh oh moment when you stumble out of some ones house wearing the party clothes you wore the night before? No worries, we've all been there! My new line will reverse that shame! Literally! Turn last nights party dress into todays envy making outfit! Oh, yeah, This is happening!

TAWNY RALPH Accessories

My little line, Ragdoll Riches Was brought to life when my uncle gave me about five pounds of vintage costume jewelry about two years ago. while going through the boxes i relized allot of it was broken and damaged or just not wearable this decade...or last. But i knew that the "bones" of theise peices were full of stories of la-dies before me. So i took everything apart and started mixing and matching vintage and retro pendents and beads together with newer items. I call the upcyled peices "rescues" because now instead of being tangled masses in the box labled donate or gathering dust in-side of jewelery boxes, they get to be worn.

Andie Logue Hairstylist

I’m Andie, I’m 32 and my full time job is medical billing and part time EMT. I like doing make up and hair because it gives me a chance to tap in to my creative side and get away from every day life. Making people step out with a new look and style is exciting, and I love the way the finished product makes me feel!

RUNWAY RENEGADES

BLACKWOODARTDESIGNER: LYNNE BLACKWOODUpcycled Clothing and Accessories for the Bold and Purposeful

I began my career in the theater; as an actress, singer, choreographer, director, costume and set designer and even stand-up comic. Live theater was a passion I pursued for 20+ years.

So here I am now in Spokane, Washington, pursuing yet another passion, which is creating something out of nothing. Repurposing, up-cycling, reconstructing / deconstructing (whatever you choose to call it) previously loved clothing and other materials into new, different, edgy, and ONE OF A KIND clothing and accessories. I focus on a “New Vin-tage” look, although I love to venture off into steampunk, glam rock, or girlie-girl territory every now and then. I am crazy about lace of any kind, especially hand crocheted doilies and vintage buttons that are reminders of both of my grandmothers. Mix that with a little leather or tulle and I am in heaven. Toss in a vintage rhinestone brooch for bling and I am over the moon! My designs are for women of all ages and all sizes…women who love vintage, romantic, statement clothing that makes your heart smile.

Repurposing is something I am very committed to and only use new materials if I absolutely have to. Let’s keep this stuff out of the landfills and on our backs where it belongs! Thrift stores, yard sales, and junk yards are full of poten-tial materials that end up there just because they are old, out dated, or ugly. I can fix ugly.

LYNNE BLACKWOODBlackwood Art

I do custom pieces as well, and enjoy nothing more than taking a piece that someone has been hanging onto for years and repurposing it into something, new, creative, edgy, romantic and one of a kind.

Designs by Blackwood Art can be purchased locally at:Glamarita – 902 ½ Garland Ave, Spokane, WA Corner Cottage – 510 N. Market, Spokane, WAOr by Custom Order

ANDREA SMITHLunexxe Jewelry DesignMy design philosophy is pretty simple. I find that when everything matches, the world is a dull and predictable place. I like asymmetry and pairing components in new and unexpected ways and that reflects in many of my pieces. I enjoy finding things to deconstruct and my jewelry tends to meld different elements together. Also, shiny things are my passion so many of my pieces have crystal and me-tallic details. I’m extremely detail oriented in my designs and something of a perfectionist. I find the process of creating to be very meditative and centering. I try to use every component available to me, I don’t believe in waste of any kind and make every effort to take ad-vantage of all the resources at hand. If people love wearing my jewelry as much as I love making it then I think I’m probably doing alright. One my main goals for Lunexxe is to support other locally-owned businesses as much as possible and keep our local community growing and thriving. I have been a part of 4 local productions so far and this is my second Runway Renegades. I’m proud to be part of Team Blackwood Art this year and I’m looking forward to show-ing Spokane what Kizmet is all about!

OONA MCGUINESS-FISCHERI am from Missoula, MT and I am the owner /designer of Trouble-maker Fascinators. I have been an artist my whole life...the child of a poet, and an architect. I use many mediums to create one of a kind fascinators, and hair jewelry. I am also a muralist, painter, fairy wing maker and will generally attempt to create any number of things that inspire me. I have found that poverty, and creativity have often been my motivators to find alternative materials and techniques. Half the joy of creation is invention. My work can be found at multiple locations in Spokane and surrounding area and please visit my FB page facebook.com/TroublemakerFascinators.

RUNWAY RENEGADES

CHEVALIERDESIGNER: KELLY LYNCH-CHEVALIERMy collection for the 2013 Runway Renegades is called Record Couture. each piece has a ton of forethought and pushing the lines of what can be done with records to make them fashionable, wearable, walkable and make people wonder how it is all done.

KELLY Lynch chevalierDesigner

My name is Kelly Lynch-Chevalier. I am a 30 something with a knack for taking things we once used everyday into wearable usable art. in my previous brand, TheRetroVixen, I made accessories from tape cassettes, pop tabs and belts. With Chevalier my plan is to take what i have done previously to the next level and make it really wearable. Re-cords are malleable, shinny and sturdy. it is all about the process. i take great pride in what i do and i hope everyone enjoys my collection and the time and thought that went into each piece.

Missie TiekenJewelry Designer

I am a fulltime VPO at a billing company here in Spokane, as well as wife and mother. I love spending time with my son and Husband. Beading at night allows me the opportunity to create my pieces and be with them at the same time. Almost every night after my day job, I come home and do the normal mom things, dinner, cleaning etc. but as the evening progresses, we sit down to relax and that is when I continue on with whichever project I have started. I also do my beading on the road while my husband drives for vacation and out camping. I am truly addicted to the sparkles… I started making Jewelry by hand in High School at Central Valley back in the 80’s with a wonderful Art teacher named Marge Rodgers. She taught me the attention to detail and that I could create anything with practice and passion. I love to make jewelry mainly because it is very satisfying to see someone wearing your items or hearing them say how much they like them, that to me is worth more than any money could ever be. I started working with beads and metals because they come in so many colors and sparkles that make the ideas limitless.

It is clothing made for women who feel comfortable with their bodies & who they are as an individual, that want to stand out and who take pride in the details. Each article is a statement piece. I am so thrilled to be participating in Runway Renegades this year & hope you all enjoy the collection on the runway as much as I enjoyed creating it.

ALYSSAH PEREZDesigner

My name is Alyssah Perez. I am the owner of Eco Chic Jewelry Designs, which is jewelry handcrafted by me from vintage & salvaged pieces. The vintage costume jewelry was something I was drawn to at a young age & never grew out of. It is not just jewelry but clothing, shoes and handbags that glitter. I love the very unique detail and high quality and simply can’t get enough of it. It seems so hard to find One~Of~A~Kind clothing that suits my style and for a few years now, I’ve wanted to design clothing. This year I finally decided I was ready to make the images I’ve been storing in my mind.

Tiffany WHITEOwner & Designer, Geisha CreationsSince I was a young girl, I have always loved making jewelry. When I was about 8 I started selling braided bracelets from a booth in my front yard. I never imagined I would be so lucky to have this as my job! After years of making jewelry, I officially start-ed Geisha Creations in 2012. Prior to Geisha Creations, I worked for Spokane jewelry supply company, Rings & Things. Working at Rings & Things helped me to expand my knowledge of jewelry-mak-ing techniques and gave me the confidence to finally make that leap into business own-ership. While there I made example jewelry for the catalogs and helped to expand their social media presence. I love jewelry! Sometimes I like to make jewelry that is cute and whimsical and other times I like to make jewelry that is assertive and sexy. That is what is so great about jewelry, it can transform your style depending on your mood! At Geisha Creations, I use a variety of metals, gemstones, and crystals to create jewelry that is as varied as my customers. I can’t imagine doing anything else! Creating is my happy place.

ERIC BARRO Photographer

Eric Barro is a fashion photographer whose work has been featured in local Bozzi Media magazines Spokane Coeur d’Alene Living and Spokane CdA Woman as well as OMG Media Group’s WTF! Fashion magazine. He is also the owner, editor and publisher of WTF! Fashion Magazine and Lake City Photography.

Brittany Trambitas Hairstylist

Born and raised in Spokane, hair is my can-vas. I am also an abstract painter and sketch artist. Recognising my passion for hair art-istry, I began beauty school early in life, and love my shears as much as the brushes I use to create my paintings. My biggest reward in this career is a client’s self confident smile at the end of allowing me to express my passion on their hair

Jen Kennedy Makeup

From an early age, whether it was making up plays or painting something, art in any form has always been my passion. It wasn’t until high school that I discovered new venues of creating such as sewing and special effects make up. I started to dive into the world of special effects make up and the behind the scenes of how its done, loving every minute of if.When I headed off to colleg, I really started to embrace my love of all things makeup. Every chance I got I was doing makeup on someone or making an excuse to do it on myself. Working as a bartender afforded me the oppor-tunity to express myself through makeup almost every day with different themed parties. After graduating from Washington state University with a bachelors degree in communications and an emphasis in advertising I de-cided to take a year off to decide if advertising was what I wanted to spend my life doing. After much debate I decided to attend hair school at Glen Dow Academy for cosmetology. Here I found myself doing more makeup then hair on most days. Although I do enjoy doing hair and makeup it’s sometimes hard to say which I enjoy more. I am however, glad I have the capability skill and know how to do both. After graduating I was hired on with MAC Cosmetics and have been enjoy-ing life ever since. My goal is to move through the ranks to become a senior artist as well as work on models for fashion week somewhere. In addition I want attend special effects makeup school and eventually work on movies and along side my special fx icon Greg Nicotero.

62

RONNIE RYNOFor many years I thought that the “creativity” gene had skipped my generation. Born of an artist mother and musician father, I had never shown an interest or inclination toward the arts. I wanted to be a teacher. After working in the education field for sev-eral years, I began to feel discontented, as though something were missing. I loved my job but felt the need to try something new, so I started playing... playing with fabric, jewelry, accessories, trims, ribbons and anything that I could get my hands on. It was as though my creativity had been hidden away just waiting to express itself. Once I got started, I couldn’t stop.

Fast forward a couple more years and I knew it was time to take a big leap of faith. I had started Runway Renegades as a way to showcase local designers, but I wanted to take it a step further. Glamarita is now two years old and we are 50 artists strong. My goal is to always provide opportunities and connections with our local fashion commu-nity. We are a vibrant, diverse and forward thinking group. I’m proud to be a part of it and look forward to many more years being inspired by all of you.

MARY TAFURIJewelry Designer, Tafuri StudiosMary Tafuri is the jewelry designer, leather worker & photographer behind Spokane’s “TaFuri Studios- a place for makers of things” and “TaFurious” brand Accessories. As a graduate of Arts and life long learner, I gravitated to jewelry fabrication at a very young age, eventually finding my professional path in the marketing and design departments for the jewelry and supplies industry. Writer, designer, jewelry artist, leather supplier, and photographer; my various work has appeared inside and on the cover of dozens of industry catalogs and magazines including Bead & Button, The Crafts Report, Art jewelry Magazine and Wire Work magazine. I was recently featured as a “leather guru” and contributor for an upcoming book from Kambalch publishing, authored by Melissa Cable. This “leather in jewelry” how-to book is set to be released in late summer 2013 and will be on book shelves at Hobby Lobby, Michaels and on Amazon.com.

Take a stroll down the streets of Shibuya, Shinjuku, or Harajuku and you will certainly notice that fashion in the world’s largest city is different from fashion anywhere else. Not only is everyday clothing in Japan distinct and unique, but Tokyo (and Japan in general) has been known for having some of the most iconic street fashion styles in the world. From Victorian-era inspired elegance to gothic teen outfits, many young people in Tokyo seek to break the conformity of typical Japanese culture and dress in a way that might not always be understood by everyone. One thing is for sure- when it comes to self expression by means of fashion styling, Tokyo youth reign supreme.

Femininity is Japan’s most widespread fashion trend for women. Women of all ages in Japan love to go out wearing dresses, skirts, and floral patterns. Lace and light pastel colors such as soft pink and baby blue are a must have in a Japanese girls’ wardrobe. Even when a girl is simply wearing an outfit like shorts and a t-shirt, there will more than likely be feminine details to her outfit such as bows, flowers, or lace.

The love of femininity in Japanese fashion spawned an interesting youth fashion trend in the 1980’s called Gosu-Rori or “Lolita”. Though the name “Lolita” makes the fashion style seem like a dark or sexualized concept, Lolita is actually a trend where a girl dresses like a Victorian doll. While “Gothic” Lolitas wear black or dark Victorian dresses, “Sweet” Lolitas will wear dresses and skirts with light colors and “girly” or “childish” patterns. There are also other more rare types of Lolita fashion such as Hime Lolita (princess outfits), Ero Lolita (a more sexy Lolita look), Punk Lolita, Kimono Lolita, and Guro Lolita (fake blood and bandages to show the look of a “broken doll”) to name a few.

Lolita has been known to have a very vast yet strict following, and many Lolita girls have been known to passive aggressively compete to look more like a Victorian doll and have the most expensive Lolita clothes from top brands such as Baby, the Stars Shine Bright or Angelic Pretty. In Spokane, it is rare to find a girl who dresses in this style but not entirely impossible. The beauty of Lolita has slowly spread to become a prevalent trend in both the United States and Europe. Overall, Lolita is a great fashion trend to try if you aren’t afraid to look excessively feminine or doll-like in public.

Punk and goth looks in Japan are declining in popularity from previous years, but many young people are still seen sporting this look in Tokyo’s crowded and judgmental streets. In a society where piercings and tattoos are frowned upon (even more so than the United States), punks and Goths of Japan are the bravest of the youth. Unlike Lolitas, many gothic or punk Japanese girls don’t necessarily have an interest in looking feminine with their sense of style, which only adds to their rebellion.

Decora is another popular street fashion style that places an emphasis on “decorating” yourself with things you wouldn’t normally find on clothes. The most common decora items are stuffed animals, toys, and beads. Other decora styles have been known to showcase balloons, plastic attire, aprons, eating utensils, and a lot more other random items. Though Decora is usually executed in a girly fashion, many decora fashion enthusiasts also dress

t h e m s e l v e s to look like video game characters.

Also declining in popularity but still semi-noticeable is the “gyaru” or “gal” style. Gyaru girls are one of the more misunderstood y o u t h movements in Japan. While some speculate that Gyaru still is an attempt for Japanese youth to look

like typical “Los Angeles” girls, others think that the Gyaru look has developed into a thing of its own. The Gyaru look emphasizes bleached hair, decorated finger nails, sexier clothing, and sometimes heavily tanned skin with light makeup to emphasize the tanness. Gyaru also isn’t just a fashion style, but for many a way of life. Gyarus are known for their love of partying and being carefree.

Not all unique-looking characters in Japan have a fashion “label”, per say. There are still many people, both young and old, in Japan who enjoy sporting traditional Japanese clothing such as yukatas and kimonos in public. Many young girls are proud to go out shopping in their schoolgirl uniforms, as well. Also, many young Japanese people have a “random” sense of style that doesn’t conform to any specific group. In the States, many of these purposeful fashion outcasts would be described as hipsters, especially since the love for vintage fashion and “recycle” store shopping has increased in Japan recently. However, the term “hipster” is not yet known in Japan.

Unlike many American women, the common Japanese woman aims to look “cute” rather than “sexy” or pleasing to men with her attire. While some American women still struggle to feel confident in high waisted pants, Japanese women cast out all cares regarding male repugnance and dress for their own liking instead of men’s liking. Japanese women are regularly seen sporting overalls, vintage jean shorts, high waisted pants, or high collared shirts that don’t even show a hint of cleavage. However, at the same time, high heel shoes are a staple to a Japanese girls’ wardrobe. Even though a Japanese woman knows that she might not get to sit down once on her hour long train commute to school or work, she will still wear her six inch heels or wedges with pride and patience. With how often you see Japanese women wearing high heels compared to American women, you might be convinced that a Japanese woman puts on high heels to just walk to the grocery store. How do they do it?

Japan (and South Korea as well) also has an interesting trend of not showing cleavage but not caring about the shortness of skirts and shorts. Most young Japanese women wear shirts that cover any hint of cleavage that they might have, but won’t hesitate to wear shorts that cover only about ten percent of their legs. While a combination of short-shorts and six inch heels might be considered a bit showy or mismatching in America, it is normal to see this in Japan and South Korea.

Spokane seems to be a world away from Tokyo, but researching Tokyo fashion is only a few clicks away from anyone who might be interested. While Tokyo fashion can be an odd mishmash of rebellious youth attire, many mainstream American fashion trends are born in Tokyo so it is worth a fashion enthusiast’s time to take a look and appreciate the oddity and beauty that is Tokyo fashion.

ANGEL BALL GALASPOKANE, WAThe Angel Ball Gala was founded by Julie and Shane Delaney in 2007. It now serves as one of the largest fundraisers for Type 1 Diabetes in Washington State.

The Angel Ball Foundation's mission is to raise funds and awareness to benefit the daily needs of those children and individuals with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes in the greater Spokane Area.

The Angel Ball Foundation holds it annual gala every June. It is is a cocktail style event that is held outdoors. The funds raised at the event help fund activities and education all year long.

About the GalaThe Delaney's have 2 sons, age 6 & 4. The day that their youngest son was born was also the day that some very dear friends of theirs were at the hospital as well. But they were there because their youngest, who was 4 at the time, was being diagnosed with Type 1 Insulin Dependent Juvenile Diabetes. That would be the day that they would begin a very emotional and trying journey. Eight months later, the Delaney's were forced to call the paramedics to their home. After being rushed to the hospital, they learned that their son, who was 8 months old at the time, had suffered from a "grand mal seizure." He would later be diagnosed with an uncommon seizure disorder. Although the last few years have been difficult, they Delaney's are happy to report that their son's seizure are lessening with time and the Doctors say he should grow out of them by the time he is a young adult.

They share that story with you because after having a child stricken with a childhood illness, they deeply understand the emotional heartache and rollercoaster that you face as an individual, as parents, and as a family. With time their son will be ok and should live a fairly uninterrupted life...

That is not the case however for a family dealing with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes.

Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes affects what a child can eat, what physical activities they can participate in, who they can be left alone with...just to name a few things. Can you image, let's say for the next 10 years, never getting to sleep through the night because you have to get up every few hours to check your child's blood sugar level? That is what Type 1 means for a family.

Type 1 Diabetes can not be cured by eating better, exercising more or changing their lifestyle. A child stricken with Tye 1 Diabetes, will have the illness, until they find a cure.

That is why the Delaney's founded the Angel Ball event! They can and will find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes!

There are two questions that each one of us asks when we wake up everyday. The first one is “What am I going to eat?” and the next one is “What am I going to wear?” It is no secret that the one thing that differentiates us from most species is our freedom of choice. And when it comes to what we are going to wear or what we refer to as fashion or style, we exercise a great deal of freedom of expression. Because that’s what it really is when we make choices about what we will wear. We express our style based on our personal preferences.

The freedom to choose what we wear is usually based on what we want to outwardly express to the world around us. During these summer months we gravitate towards less clothing and colorful fabrics because well, for the most part, the weather dictates the type of clothing we can wear and because we want to express our sunny disposition to align with the warmer and sunnier weather.

Already in its sixth year, the well-known fashion runway show called Runway Renegades has captured the imagination of many an aspiring fashion designer. This year, the show will be on its second year showcasing local designer collections at the Garland District Block party on Aug 17, 2013. Six local designers and their teams of jewelry/accessories designers, hair and make up stylists/artists and photographers will be featuring their new collection. If you are into fashion make sure to check out this event to see how each designer expresses their creative and artistic freedom through their designs.

We welcome back model Alaska Bruneau who went on a four month study tour to Japan. She took some fantastic street fashion photos and wrote an article on Japanese fashion in the Shibuya district. Find out how the Japanese express their freedom and creativity through their own interpretation of fashion.

Fashion, art and photography are all means whereby creative can express their freedom. The freedom to create and express that in different mediums. Haley Waddington is a local artist whose artwork reflects her interests and creativity via acrylic paintings. Her art is inspired by old cartoons, both old and new pin-up, burlesque, a love of nature, and horror movies. Yes I copied that straight from her web site!

Finally, cover girl Erin Neel is a prime example of our current issue’s theme of freedom of expression. One summer day, we chanced upon her and shot at the Monroe Bridge on the day they closed it to both vehicular and foot traffic. We had the bridge to ourselves and we got some great shots of Erin.

One last word – help one of the six local designers for Runway Renegades, Alyssah Perez of Eco Chic Clothing, showcase her new fashion collection at one of the underground fashion events during New York Fashion Week at Sugar Art & Fashion show by supporting her kickstarter campaign (by following this link -- http://kck.st/198HGIU). There is truly never a better time to support one of our own in expressing our freedom to show the rest of the world what Spokane fashion is all about.
