Pure Thinking expresses the core attributes that make us who we are. Throughout our recent history, we have built our capabilities around an uncompromising instinct for innovation across the solutions we deliver our clients, whilst always looking for the most environmentally sustainable choices to support that solution. The interdependence between this instinct for innovation, and our commitment to a sustainable future, lies at the heart of our brand, our people and our business as whole.

We call this ‘Pure Thinking’.

WSP Lincolne Scott is an internationally recognised pathmaker in environmental building services, employing the very best people, from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds, to ensure that each project delivers its promise of leadership, innovation and engineering excellence.

32

We have a rich history of delivering world-leading projects of engineering, urban, architectural and green significance. This tradition of innovation has seen our projects set benchmarks, proving the business case for sustainable design, as we continue to push industry expectations.

Our green building designs have been built, and better still, they work. They are commercially viable and they have achieved peer recognition from our clients and fellow design professionals.

Our integrated and collaborative approach has seen us deliver many firsts, including:

– 30 The Bond in Sydney, Australia’s first 5 star Green Star - Office As Built V2 rating and 2005 Australia Winner Property Council of Australia Award

– Council House 2 in Melbourne, Australia’s first 6 star Green Star - Office Design rating in Australia and winner of awards such as The Sustainable Building Services Award 2007 Sustainable Building/Development of the Year

– NELHA, the first LEED platinum rated building in Hawaii, and the first building in the world to use deep sea water for 100% cooling without the need for fans

– The Summer in Perth, Australia’s first Green Star Certified multi unit residential development

– Melbourne Convention Centre, the first 6 star Green Star Convention Centre rating and winner of the Banksia 2009 Built Environment Award

– City Central Tower 1 in Adelaide, Australia’s first building to be awarded a 5 star Green Star - Office As Built V2 Certified Rating, a 5 star Green Star - Office Design V2 Certified rating and 5 star NABERS rating

– Southern Cross Station in Melbourne, Australia’s first recipient of the prestigious Lubetkin Prize (2007) from the Royal Institute of British Architects.

We believe the key to continual progress is to integrate environmental thinking with delivering enhanced commercial outcomes. This approach has been instrumental in shaping the industry move towards greener cities.

We are driven by strong ethics and accountability; we were the first company in the Asia Pacific to become climate neutral across our Australian and Asia Pacific network of offices.

We are a WSP Group company, listed on the London Stock Exchange. Our shared values strengthen our service offering. As a member of the WSP Group, we have a truly global perspective, reach and depth.

Our integrated and flexible structure means we are able to deliver reliable and robust engineering outcomes that support any budget and programme requirements and exceed environmental objectives.

We mobilise the best team for each project, ensuring quality transcends geographical location.

Core services are offered locally, complemented by specialist teams that are leveraged on a project by project basis. We also have specialist brands that are recognised internationally: Advanced Environmental for environmental design; and Vision Design for specialist and architectural lighting.

Green committees in each of our offices work to improve the efficiency of our operations and minimise carbon emissions, by creating office policies to promote and sustain good green practices. This includes implementing many low-cost green initiatives such as stationery recycling, herb gardens and worm farms.

In 2006 we became the first Australian company to make our entire Asia Pacific operations - including flights, electricity, taxi and car use, couriers and paper usage - 100% carbon neutral, and we have maintained a climate neutral status ever since.

We also introduced a Personal Carbon Offset Scheme for employees, which is believed to be the first in the world. This voluntary scheme allows our employees to offset their personal emissions by offering gold standard carbon credits as a salary sacrifice.

We are now piloting the Corporate Carbon Portal (CCP) alongside the World Wildlife Fund. This online portal allows us to track, record and report our carbon emissions more accurately, providing a more cohesive approach to offsetting our emissions and helping us identify areas to continue to reduce our carbon emissions.

We practice what we preach.

Intrinsic to our success is understanding what our clients want and making it happen.

We seek the best solution, not the easiest. We make the complex simple. We talk our client’s language and share their problems. We collaborate and always look for a better way.

We are trusted to deliver by a diverse range of clients from family-owned boutiques to large-scale corporations, including builders, notable architects, financiers, developers and all levels of government.

We aim to step beyond standard delivery and seek change and innovation whilst proactively managing commercial risk. This means looking beyond our immediate scope and pushing for a better way in every aspect of our projects.

This is demonstrated through our world-leading projects, whether new construction or repositioned existing stock, from healthcare to art, from commercial to government.

Our designs get built and our buildings work. Here are just a few of our completed high profile projects.

Page 9: WSP Lincolne Scott - Pure Thinking

WSP Lincolne Scott fundamentally believes every project can be delivered with reduced environmental impacts. This principle underpins all our work whether overtly green, or not.

By taking custody of environmental outcomes and commercial value we have been able to show a lineage of progressive environmental projects which have stayed ahead of industry expectations. This continues to motivate our business to innovate and raise the bar.

A pioneer in corporate responsibility, we adopted a green policy in the 90s and we have always approached our transition to a sustainable business and leading green building practitioner as a cultural issue.

Our projects have acted as a catalyst for change within the industry. By delivering green buildings that work, we have helped prove the business case for environmentally sustainable design. We have supported the industry though our involvement in the foundation of the Green Building Council of Australia, World Green Building Council and similar international bodies.

As of 2009, we have over 100 stars certified by the Green Building Council of Australia which includes many world firsts. We are increasingly involved in green precincts and masterplanning, including Fraser’s Broadway where we are master engineers; East Darling Harbour where we guided state government; and, South Korea’s Songdo Landmark City where we were sustainability advisors.

WSP Lincolne Scott has increased its capacity through the complementary environmental services and ethics of WSP Group who have developed global leading carbon footprinting methodologies; carbon strategies for Harvard University; and, large scale international benchmark projects as the world first zero carbon neutral, zero waste city, Masdar, in Abu Dhabi.

Our leadership in green buildings has been good for all aspects of our business and we maintain our vision to be the world’s leading green engineering firm.

We are part of the WSP Group. WSP provides best practice, sustainable consulting in the built and natural environment. This involves designing, engineering and managing property, transport, infrastructure, environmental and energy projects. We’re over 35 countries, we’re big, but that’s only a small part of our story.

No-one is shaped quite like us. Because we cultivate individuality, we cultivate the kind of innovation and expertise you would expect to find in a small specialist consultancy. Because we are big, we have the resources to deliver and the freedom to be ourselves. Because the best teams are made up of different but complementary people with shared vision and values, we are firmly united. And this is what defines us. We are... united by our difference.

The WSP Group of Companies are involved in some of the world’s most iconic projects, these include:– WSP Africa 2010 World Cup

Stadiums - Green Point Stadium in Cape Town & Nelson Mandela Bay stadium at Port Elizabeth

– WSP Flack and Kurtz Hearst Tower in New York & Mets Stadium, NY

– WSP UK Shard of Glass at London

– WSP Cantor Seinuk Freedom Tower and two other buildings on the Ground Zero site in New York

– WSP Middle East Nakheel Tower in Dubai

– WSP Middle East Masdar (zero-carbon city) in Abu Dhabi
