Wrong Side of Wrong Side of the Bedthe Bed

Message..

• This film is all about how from the moment you wake up, the day ahead of you can go in two completely different ways; you can have a day where everything goes to plan, or a day where nothing goes right at all.

• This film shows the two different paths your day can take and bring a sense of comedy as the unlucky man can even see how well it is going for the version of him that woke up on the right side of the bed.

Camera techniques..

• The film starts by revealing the main character, it uses a mid angle shot as he sleeps in his bed. This then splits into two as he reaches for his alarm.

• This gives the implication of a parallel world, showing two different circumstances.

• There is a close-up/mid-shot showing his morning routine, for one it is going to plan, for the other, nothing is going right.

• A tracking shot is used as ‘they’ walk to work, showing their journey.

Camera techniques..

• The camera takes up a position showing a long shot, and stays there as the men swap worlds, but not luck. The unlucky one looks on as his lucky half gets attended to by a girl.

• The camera remains in that position as the lucky one walks toward the camera with the girl, leaving the other one looking on in the background.

Sound..

• The only diegetic sound used in this film is the sound or props such as the alarm going off and the door slamming. There is no dialogue.

• From then on, only non-diegetic sound is used; the music.

• The music is upbeat and jolly, keeping to the mood of only one of these men.

• An effective sound effect is used at the beginning when the man splits into the lucky him and the unlucky him – it emphasises the image we see on the screen.

Framing..

• Throughout the film, both men who got on each side of the bed take up the frame.

• Neither of them take centre frame as they must both be in the parallel shot at all times to show what is happening to each of them at the same time.

• There is a visible divide down the centre of the frame showing the split between both worlds.

Mise-en-scene..

• Their costume implies that they are heading to work as they are smartly dressed. This is also shown through the fact that their alarm went off, meaning they had somewhere to be, plus they seemed to have a routine.

• Although they are in the same location with the same props at all times, it is made to seem so much different to each man. i.e. their toast pops up at the same time, for one it is perfectly done, but for the other it is burnt.

Editing..

• Due to the amount of basic shots and lack of camera movement, the editing was done to give the same feel.

• It gives a calm feel with the long and smooth shots.

• The editing cleverly puts the men in the same position at all times with a split down the screen showing that they are in parallel worlds.
