Table 4.1. Pre Test and Post Test Result

From the table above, in the pre test students were able to do the speaking

test without using role play. The average score of pre-test result was 68; the

researcher assumed that the students’ speaking skill was still low. The mode was

70, because there were 20 students who got 70 in their pre test score. The median

of pre test was 70. The table also showed that there were 8 students who got

highest score, the highest score was 75 and also there was one student who got the

lowest score, the lowest score was 50.

After the students got the treatment, the researcher did a post test to

measure their improvement. There are increments in the result score. The average

was 84; the average score was rising about 16 point. The mode was 85, there were

18 students who got score 85. The median of the post test was 85. There were also

increments in the highest and lowest score, the highest score was 95 and the

lowest was 75.

By looked at the total score, the researcher conclude that there was 680

points of increment in the pre test and post test result. The comparison of highest

and lowest score could be used as indicators. In the pre test score, there were 8

students who got 75 as the highest score and there was one student who got 50 as

the lowest score. For the post test, there were three students who got 95 as the

highest score and five students who got 75 as the lowest score. The increment in

the highest score was about 20 points and 25 points for the lowest score. Finally,

the students’ speaking skill was better after they got the treatment. The increasing

of the total score, mean, mode, highest or lower score could be used as the

indicators of improvement.
