Bible Studies Betty Clark Every Tuesday at 2pm

Join Betty Clark as she leads a weekly Bible study with residents and members of her local congregation. In this group discussion, participants will utilize the Bible as their primary textbook and be provided with “My Book of Bible Stories” to assist in studies as they progressively learn what scripture teaches. Members will also prepare their study by examining titles, subheadings, visual aids and identify the answers to the printed questions. They will decide which cited scriptures to read during the study as well as reconsider the main points at the end of the hour. During Bible Study, Betty hopes to make disciples by helping people to understand and accept the teachings of God’s word and apply them in their own lives.

Bridge for Beginners and Beyond, is designed for those who are brand new to the game of bridge. During our monthly meeting, we will experiment with general concepts such as following suit, playing with a partner and counting points. We will uncover strategy though group discussion and develop an understanding of bidding, leading and discarding as well as a wealth of bridge vocabulary. Finally, we will assess a variety of card-holding scenarios and analyze specific holdings to demonstrate a theme, skill or competence. As we progress, we hope that you too will become a bridge enthusiast who enjoys both the challenge and social aspect of play!

Creative Clay-Come and learn how to pinch, coil, and roll clay into useful or decorative pieces in this fun class. After hand building your piece, we will paint directly on the wet clay with your choice of colored underglazes. Liz will take the pieces home and fire them in her kiln after they've dried. She'll return them to you at the following month's class. All the materials are non-toxic and safe to use for food and drink after they've been fired.

As a group, the No Sew Class works to create no-sew pillows and blankets which will be donated to local charities and underprivileged members of our community! Start the day with a full body stretch to get you ready for daily tasks. This course is great for relaxing, stretching and lengthening tight muscles. Stretching is important for people of all ages. One of the greatest benefits of stretching is that you're able to increase your range of motion, which means limbs and joints will become more flexible, helping to ward off injury. Other benefits of stretching include reduced muscle tension, enhanced muscular coordination, increased blood circulation and higher energy levels. This meditative class is sure to soothe your soul and stretch out sore muscles.

Watermark University Instructors

Liz Alecknavage became interested in working with clay as a child digging from an Ohio pond while visiting her grandparents. She earned a B.A. in Studio Art from Knox College in 1992 and has taught pottery to children and adults at the University City Arts League in Philadelphia. She now lives in Delaware County with her husband, son, and mother and brings ceramics classes to senior resident homes, church group, and children’s groups. She is delighted to be able to share this activity with the residents of Blue Bell Place.

Michele Brooker-Lee has been working in food service for twenty-one years. She has a husband and two children. Her children are twelve and seven years old and keep her busy when she’s not at Blue Bell Place. Michele enjoys camping with her family and she is passionate about teaching seniors about healthy cooking.

Darrell Bryant comes to us from the Chinese Martial Arts and Wellness center. Darrell is also the owner of Ho’s Academy of Tai Chi in Harleysville. Ho’s Academy operates under guiding principles which enable good health and fitness, self-defense, and character building. Darrell is back at Blue Bell Place for his ninth semester and is excited to promote his system of movements for Blue Bell residents to achieve strength and balance in their lives.

Betty Clark has been in the Jehovah’s Witness Worcester Congregation since 1984. Upon retirement Betty immediately took on a new assignment of becoming a “full-time pioneer”. This involves devoting at least 70 hours per month to preaching and teaching God’s word in our community. As a “pioneer” she is dedicated to teaching the Word of God effectively with the goal of building appreciation for God and his qualities. To be effective as a teacher, Betty regularly studies Jesus’ life and ministry and enjoys sharing these insights with others. This is also true of Betty’s team. Jaala Diehl serves as a “regular pioneer” in the Worcester congregation and her girls, Hannah and Abigal are baptized and are regular publishers in the congregation. Bob Heyberger serves as a ministerial servant and his wife Julie has served as a “regular auxiliary pioneer” dedicating at least 50 hours per month to ministering in the community. Unanimously, the goal of the team is to fulfill the commission to “make disciples of people of all the nations…teaching them.”---Matthew 28:19, 20.

Jill Goinden, Business Office Manager, has been with Blue Bell Place for eight years. Although Jill holds a Bachelors in Accounting from Chestnut Hill College, Jill has successful created a No Sew Blanket class that has become a success with the residents and promotes volunteerism in the community. Jill also teaches the course Cake Decorating after gaining an interest in baking cakes for family and friends. She comes from a family of Watermark employees including her mother Jenny, who is the Community Life Director at Logan Square.

Cheryle Grant, Housekeeping Director, loves to have fun and truly cares about the wellbeing of each resident. Therefore, she is happy to volunteer her evenings leading classes to promote an interactive group challenge where everyone works together. When not working, Cheryle loves to spend her free time playing paintball!

Eileen Heffron is the Resident Care Director at Blue Bell Place and has been so for the past six years. She is a wealth of knowledge in the nursing field and is eager to share that knowledge with her residents at Blue Bell. When not working hard at Blue Bell, Eileen loves to spend time with her grandson John and her dog Bowser.

Elizabeth A. Hillwig or better known to all as Betty Ann joins us as the new Marketing & Sales Director. Her hobby and passion has always been working with animals and she has steered that passion into showing, breeding, grooming and training many different breeds of dogs. She has been handling dogs into the show ring for about 50 years and has never lost that excitement of earning a championship and several grand championships on my Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. Betty Ann is excited share with us her knowledge of animals and world of dog showing.

Danielle Morse is the Community Life Director and our newest member to the Blue Bell Place Team. Joins us from Doylestown, where she resides with her family. Danielle has worked various nursing facilities in the Bucks County area and most recently traveling the country as an event producer for a New York event company. In her free time, Danielle loves to stay active outdoors with her favorite recreational activities.

Alyson Moyer has been playing the clarinet for nineteen years and loves sharing her musical talent with the residents at Blue Bell Place. Alyson recently has changed roles in our community from caregiving to be community life. Alyson enjoys scrapbooking in her spare time and loves to surf the net and use her computer. While working at Blue Bell Place, Alyson loves to reminisce with the residents and learn about her life stories. She is very contentious associate and is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face while providing care!

Lisa Oberdoester has been a member of the Fox Therapy team at Blue Bell Place for nine years. She has been a physical therapist for eighteen years and has her Masters in Physical Therapy from Temple University. She loves to share her passion for the health field by creating a roundtable discussion time where residents may feel comfortable asking questions about senior health. When Lisa is not working at Blue Bell, she loves spending time with her family.

Doug Pfeiger, Maintenance Associate, has worked at Blue Bell Place for many years. Recently, we got word of his wonderful gift in the field of art. Doug is an avid watercolorist and works in many artistic mediums. This semester, Doug and Cheryle will be teaching a woodworking class. Doug is very encouraging in his classes and always helps student to produce beautiful pieces of art.

Tom Schultz, Executive Director, quickly identified the need for a “happy hour” at Blue Bell and thus implemented this popular class and event each week. Residents anticipate the cocktail of the week and a time when they are able to kick back, relax and enjoy drinks with friends. Many weeks the song, “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” can be heard in relation to Tom as he is the creator of this popular event.

Carly Stern, new Community Life Associate joins the Blue Bell Team with her upbeat and outgoing personality. Carly has been working in the Hospitality industry for the past three years. She has received her Hospitality degree from Drexel University and has worked in places like Disney World and Marriot Hotel. We are excited to have Carly’s bubbly personality and feel her passion for technology will make the most interactive classes and discussions.
