Science
Materials
Everything around us is built by using different materials, such as plastic, rubber, metal, leather, etc. Certain materials are chosen to be used for certain parts of an object for suitability reasons. For example, we use plastic because it is light, and metal because it is strong. In this unit you will identify what makes a material suited for a particular product and evaluate how useful it is.
Fill in the labels in the ‘Made from Different Materials’ worksheet, then use your own knowledge and some research to answer the attached questions.
PDHPE

Geography The Earth has been changing and evolving for millions of years. Changes to the Earth’s environment have helped modern humans to evolve because of the need to adapt. Human’s ability to adapt to changing conditions means that they can survive in places all over the world. Our ability to adapt however, has resulted in us changing the environment as well, mostly to suit our own needs. Carefully observe the images in ‘How Humans Have Impacted the Environment’ and fill in your answers to how humans have changed the environment throughout the years.
Creative arts Today you will be designing a gold medal which could be used at an Olympic or Paralympic Games.
The Olympic and Paralympic Games were held in Tokyo this year. Using your own knowledge about the event along with some research, design your own gold medal.
Think about what relevant images you could include on the medal to represent the event.
Use the provided example of ‘The Olympic Medal’ to create your own medal.
PDHPE Drinking too much alcohol can severely damage the body in many ways. Alcohol is a drug that slows down or depresses the brain. It is also known as a depressant. Like many drugs, alcohol changes a person's ability to think, speak, and see things as they really are. In today’s activity you will identify what short and long term effects alcohol has on our body. Read the fact cards ‘The Effects of Alcohol on the Body’ and fill in ‘The Dangers of Alcohol Misuse’ worksheet.
Reminder: You should be reading EVERY DAY for 20 minutes. Use the ONLINE resource page on the school website to access online
