WP 1 DATA. Objectives• To gather in a common framework long term
observations of hydrology, water quality, sediment transport, biological communities, society and economy in target running waters to build a standardized database as a consortium-level tool.
• To check for climate and global change effects in watersheds under study, feeding different research needs across work packages.
• To detect adequate hot-spots to be used as calibration sites for models simulating key river ecosystem processes.

Location of adequate time-series for calibration and testing of models developed in the different WPs

We will work on three main topics:
1- Trend and cyclic behavior detection. Data for individual stations will be analyzed for detecting trends and cycles, and for relating this to climate and land use change.

2- Spatial coherency. Data from several data stations will be analyzed to detect common and synchronous responses to global and regional climate phenomena. This will define areas sensitive to climate change in Mediterranean Spain.

We will work on three main topics:
3- Climate fingerprints. We will use the IPCC attribution guidelines to perform a large-scale aggregation of data and a meta-analysis for attribution to anthropogenic climate change. The goal is to give a high quality assessment ready to be incorporated in the GPII report of the AR5 in March 2014.
