The Power of Story:

I love a good story teller. It is interesting how someone can captureyour attention with well-crafted words, interesting details, andimportant learning that occurs along the way. The Bible is the greateststory every told. It is a story with interesting people with strengths andweaknesses, some that teach us what to do and others what not to do. Ithelps us to see God in ways that we can relate to. Through it weunderstand ourselves, others, and the world around us. It is interesting, captivating, and quite diverse in the types of stories that are told and in

the way that they are told. And as a whole creates a unified picture ofGod and the importance of our relationship with God.

After the Bible the second most powerful story to capture hearts andhelp people to know God is our stories. We all have a story to tell. Wehave stories of great successes and horrible failures. We have stories ofamazing joy and terrible sorrow. We have stories of relationships thatbrought pain and misery into our lives. And we have stories of

Welcome Visitors!

All are welcome!

brought pain and misery into our lives. And we have stories ofrelationships that brought great joy and meaning into our lives.

As believers we do well to think about our story, the good and the bad.To think about how our story intersects with what the Bible says andhow it has connected to God's story. Then to be ready to use our storywhen opportunities come to bring wisdom and comfort to others andultimately help them to see the truth of God's place in the world.

During Lent we will have a few of our church members share a smallpart of their story in a certain area. We will then use their story tochallenge us to look deeper at our own journey and think about whatstories we might have to share. Maybe build confidence in our ability toshare and be used by God to convey to a lost world the importance ofGod in our lives.

As our story continues to be written may each of us embrace our story, prepare our thoughts, and be ready to share as opportunities arise. Ican't encourage you enough to look for little ways to share with othersthe importance and difference a faith in Jesus makes. It might just bethe needed spark to help someone to see their need for Jesus. Go tellstories!
