WelcomeWe are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God from the

wedding of Melissa Walters and Lance McLeroy.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available in our Welcome Center, located through the doorways on either side of the high pulpit. You can also visit our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. A leader will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We also provide a Mother/Infant Room located beside Nursery 1 which is equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service.

†The Call to Worship .......................................................................................... Psalm 36:5-7

Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.

Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep.

How priceless is your unfailing love!

Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

My song is love unknown, my Savior’s love to me,Love to the loveless shown, that they might lovely be.O who am I, that for my sake my Lord should take frail flesh and die?

He came from his blest throne, salvation to bestow; But men cared not, and none the longed-for Christ would know. But O, my Friend, my Friend indeed who at his need his life did spend.

Here might I stay and sing, no story so divine;Never was love, dear King, never was grief like thine. This is my Friend in whose sweet praise I all my days could gladly spend.

The Response

The grass withers and the flowers fall,But the Word of our God stands forever.

*The New Testament Lesson ............................................................ Romans 12: 9-21page 1764 in the pew Bible

Q. 4: What does God's law require of us?

Christ teaches us this in summary in Matthew 22—You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.

(Sung by all)

Spirit of God, descend upon my heart;Wean it from earth; through all its pulses move;Stoop to my weakness, mighty as thou art;And make me love thee as I ought to love.

Teach me to love thee as thine angels love,One holy passion filling all my frame; The kindling of the heaven descended Dove,My heart an altar, and thy love the flame.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Confession of Sin

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ................................................ 2 Chronicles 7:14If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

The Personal Confession of Sin (Please kneel if able to do so)

Most holy and merciful Father,We confess to you and to one another,That we have sinned against you By what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart and mind and strength. We have not fully loved our neighbors as ourselves. We have not always had in us the mind of Christ. You alone know how often we have grieved youBy wasting your gifts, by wandering from your ways.Forgive us, we pray you, most merciful Father; and free us from our sin.Renew in us the grace and strength of your Holy Spirit,For the sake of Jesus Christ, your Son, our Savior. Amen.

The Offertory—Sometimes a Light Surprises .................................................... Courtney

*The Offering (Please take a moment to sign the attendance register.)

Sometimes a light surprises the Christian while he sings; It is the Lord who rises with healing in his wings:When comforts are declining, he grants the soul againA season of clear shining to cheer it after rain.

In holy contemplation we sweetly then pursueThe theme of God’s salvation, and find it ever new;Set free from present sorrow, we cheerfully can say,Let the unknown tomorrow bring with it what it may.

It can bring with it nothing but he will bear us through:Who gives the lilies clothing will clothe his people too;Beneath the spreading heavens no creature but is fed;And he who feeds the ravens will give his children bread.

Though vine nor fig tree neither their wanted fruit should bear,Though all the fields should wither, nor flocks nor herds be there:Yet God the same abiding, his praise shall tune my voice; For while in him confiding, I cannot but rejoice.

*†The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.
