The Theme: Providence

WelcomeBut as for me, it is good to be near God. — Psalm 73:28

We have no greater privilege than to draw near to God. We come to him through the merit of Christ crucified. We come by the power of the Holy Spirit. And we come with God’s promise that he will draw near to us ( James 4:8).

If your faith has not yet come to rest in Christ, and if God is awakening in your heart a desire to take the next step, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact the pastor or speak to him as you leave the sanctuary. A husband and wife team will also be standing next to the pastor following the service to speak with any-one interested in exploring what it means to know Jesus Christ or to join this church.

May our gracious Lord draw near to you wonderfully in this service today.

Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before him with thanksgiving

and extol him with music and song.

For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;

for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Let us worship God.

† The Confession of Faith ................................. Westminster Confession of Faith 5.1

Christian, what do you believe concerning God’s Providence?

God the great Creator of all things does uphold, direct, dispose, and govern all creatures, actions, and things, from the greatest even to the least, by His most wise and holy providence, according to His infallible foreknowledge, and the free and immutable counsel of His own will, to the praise of the glory of His wisdom, power, justice, goodness, and mercy.

The New Testament Lesson .................................................................... John 6:28-40 page 1657 in the pew Bible

The Response

This is the Word of God,

Thanks be to you, O God.

The Personal Confession of Sin

The Corporate Confession of Sin (Please kneel)

Father and Creator, may your Spirit speak in me that I may speak to you. I am undeserving, but I look to your tender mercy. I am full of infirmities, wants, sins; you are full of grace. I confess my sin, my frequent sin, my willful sin; all my powers of body and soul are defiled: a fountain of pollution is deep within my nature. Help me in all my doings to put down sin and to humble pride. Save me from the love of the world and the pride of life, from everything that is natural to fallen man. Enable me to never lose sight of the glory of Christ. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ....................................2 Corinthians 5:17-18, 21

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

† The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come.Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread,And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Offering* *Please take a moment to sign the attendance register.

The Trumpet Offertory - The Heavens Declare the Glory of God ................Marcello

The heavens declare the glory of God.The skies proclaim the work of his hands.Day after day they pour forth speech.Night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

Offertory Anthem - Face to Face ................................................................MinerRob Foster, alto sax

Face to face with Christ, my Savior;face to face, what will it be?When with rapture I behold him,Jesus Christ who died for me?

Face to face I shall behold him,far beyond the starry sky.Face to face in all his gloryI shall see him by and by!

Only faintly now I see himwith the darkened veil between, but a blessed day is comingwhen his glory shall be seen.

What rejoicing in his presencewhen are banished grief and pain, when the crooked ways are straightenedand the dark things shall be plain.

Face to face - O blissful moment!Face to face to see and know.Face to face with my Redeemer,Jesus Christ who loves me so.
