ORGAN PRELUDE – ‘I must tell Jesus’ – Hughes
ENTRANCE HYMN NUMBER 439 - What wondrous love
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss
to lay aside his crown for my soul, for my soul,
to lay aside his crown for my soul.
To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing,
to God and to the Lamb, I will sing.
To God and to the Lamb who is the great I AM,
while millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing,
while millions join the theme I will sing.
And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on,
and when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on.
And when from death I’m free I’ll sing and joyful be,
and through eternity I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on,
and through eternity I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on.
American folk hymn, ca. 1835 These words are in the public domain.
Opening Sentence (BCP p. 75) The Officiant says
Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Isaiah 60:3
Confession of Sin (BCP p. 79) The Officiant says to the people
Let us confess our sins to God.
Officiant and People together, all kneeling
God of all mercy, we confess that we have sinned against you,
opposing your will in our lives.
We have denied your goodness in each other,
in ourselves, and in the world you have created.
We repent of the evil that enslaves us,
the evil we have done,
and the evil done on our behalf.
Forgive, restore, and strengthen us
through our Savior Jesus Christ,
that we may abide in your love
and serve only your will. Amen.
The Officiant remains kneeling and says
Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through the grace of Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen.
The Invitatory and Psalter
Officiant
People
Officiant and People
Praise to the holy and undivided Trinity, one God: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia.
Antiphon (BCP p. 80)
Christ has shown forth his glory: O come let us worship.
Invitatory (BCP p. 80)
Come, let us sing to the Lord; *
let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before God’s presence with thanksgiving *
and raise to the Lord a shout with psalms.
For you are a great God, *
you are great above all gods.
In your hand are the caverns of the earth, *
and the heights of the hills are yours also.
The sea is yours, for you made it, *
and your hands have molded the dry land.
Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee, *
and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For you are our God,
and we are the people of your pasture and the sheep of your hand. *
Oh, that today we would hearken to your voice!
Psalm: Psalm 139:1-5, 12-17
1Lord, you have searched me out and known me; * you know my sitting down and my rising up; you discern my thoughts from afar. 2You trace my journeys and my resting-places * and are acquainted with all my ways. 3Indeed, there is not a word on my lips, * but you, O Lord, know it altogether. 4You press upon me behind and before * and lay your hand upon me. 5Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; * it is so high that I cannot attain to it. 12For you yourself created my inmost parts; * you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 13I will thank you because I am marvelously made; * your works are wonderful, and I know it well. 14My body was not hidden from you, * while I was being made in secret and woven in the depths of the earth. 15Your eyes beheld my limbs, yet unfinished in the womb; all of them were written in your book; * they were fashioned day by day, when as yet there was none of them. 16How deep I find your thoughts, O God! * how great is the sum of them! 17If I were to count them, they would be more in number than the sand; * to count them all, my life span would need to be like yours.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

A Reading from the First book of Samuel.
1Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord under Eli. The word of the Lord was rare in those days; visions were not widespread. 2At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see, was lying down in his room; 3the lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was. 4Then the Lord called, “Samuel! Samuel!” and he said, “Here I am!” 5and ran to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call; lie down again.” So he went and lay down. 6The Lord called again, “Samuel!” Samuel got up and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, my son; lie down again.” 7Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. 8The Lord called Samuel again, a third time. And he got up and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy. 9Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and if he calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10Now the Lord came and stood there, calling as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” [11Then the Lord said to Samuel, “See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make both ears of anyone who hears of it tingle. 12On that day I will fulfill against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end. 13For I have told him that I am about to punish his house forever, for the iniquity that he knew, because his sons were blaspheming God, and he did not restrain them. 14Therefore I swear to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be expiated by sacrifice or offering forever.” 15Samuel lay there until morning; then he opened the doors of the house of the Lord. Samuel was afraid to tell the vision to Eli. 16But Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel, my son.” He said, “Here I am.” 17Eli said, “What was it that he told you? Do not hide it from me. May God do so to you and more also, if you hide anything from me of all that he told you.” 18So Samuel told him everything and hid nothing from him. Then he said, “It is the Lord; let him do what seems good to him.” 19As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. 20And all Israel from Dan to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was a trustworthy prophet of the Lord.]

First Canticle (BCP p. 85) Canticle 6: Glory be to God
Gloria in excelsis
and on earth peace, good will towards men.
We praise thee, we bless thee,
we worship thee,
we glorify thee,
O Lord, the only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ;
O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
that takest away the sins of the world,
have mercy upon us.
receive our prayer.
Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father,
have mercy upon us.
thou only, O Christ,
with the Holy Ghost,
art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
A Reading from Paul's First letter to the
Church in Corinth.
12“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. 13“Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food,” and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is meant not for fornication but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14And God raised the Lord and will also raise us by his power. 15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16Do you not know that whoever is united to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For it is said, “The two shall be one flesh.” 17But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18Shun fornication! Every sin that a person commits is outside the body; but the fornicator sins against the body itself. 19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.

Second Canticle (BCP p. 85) Canticle 18 (EOW): A Song to the Lamb
Revelation 4:11; 5:9-10, 13
are yours by right, O God Most High,
For you created everything that is, *
and by your will they were created and have their being;
And yours by right, O Lamb that was slain, *
for with your blood you have redeemed for God,
From every family, language, people, and nation, *
a royal priesthood to serve our God.
And so, to the One who sits upon the throne, *
and to Christ the Lamb,
Be worship and praise, dominion and splendor, *
for ever and for evermore.
A Reading from John.
43Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” 44Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.” 46Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” 47When Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, he said of him, “Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!” 48Nathanael asked him, “Where did you get to know me?” Jesus answered, “I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you.” 49Nathanael replied, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” 50Jesus answered, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.” 51And he said to him, “Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”

creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.

On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

The Prayers
Officiant
Prayers of the People – Epiphany 2-B
Jesus calls on us to follow him. Let us call on Jesus for the needs, concerns and hopes of all God’s people, saying: God of grace, hear us, we pray.
For the Church: especially world-wide Anglican Communion in all of its diversity, for Michael, our Presiding Bishop, and Kevin our bishop, that we may introduce others to Christ through our lives, deeds, and words. God of grace, Hear us, we pray.
For this parish family of All Saints; especially for everyone who call this place their spiritual home; special thanksgivings are offered for Steven and Michael Serfass; we ask that we may be counted among those who listen to God’s voice, and delight to do God’s will. God of grace, Hear us, we pray.
We ask for greater unity among the followers of Jesus, so that all Christians may work together to confront evil, and further the work of God's reign. God of grace, Hear us, we pray.
For our sisters and brothers, who are the children of God; who are discriminated against because of their faith, their sexual orientation, or the color of their skin; we pray for a community in which all the children of God feel enabled to live in a way that truly is a reflection of God’s special gift in their own lives. God of grace, hear us, we pray.
For the healing of the earth's climate and for the restoration of the resources of our planet home, that the Spirit will open hearts to the seriousness of the challenge and give courage to those who are working to find solutions. God of grace, hear us, we pray.
For the healing of our nation, that walls of division and brokenness may be replaced with trust, justice and harmony, and that together we may work for the good and welfare of all. God of grace, Hear us, we pray.
For Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris, that as they assume their offices, God will guide them in leading the nation and promoting the values of freedom, justice, and human dignity. God of grace, Hear us, we pray.
For those with Covid19, and all those who put their lives on the line to serve, and save others, that God will give them strength, and keep them safe. God of grace, Hear us, we pray.
For those who are in need of our prayers, remembering especially those listed on our Intercessory Prayer List ……………….; we ask that they may know the light of God's healing presence and love. God of grace, Hear us, we pray.
For those who have died, remembering especially our sister and God’s precious daughter Gloria Balogach who died last Sunday afternoon…; we also remember either silently or aloud those who have died but are yet so very near and dear to us…….; for we know that through their Holy Baptism: that God will call them by name and welcome them into eternal joy and peace., God of grace, Hear us, we pray.
Lifting our voices with all creation, with Mary, the God-bearer, Peter the Apostle, and all the saints, let us offer ourselves and one another to the living God through Christ. To you, O Lord our God.
Leader - God of mystery, whose voice calls us by name, hear the prayers of your people and give us childlike faith to listen to your words and be ready to follow you in faith, through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer (BCP p. 97) Officiant and People
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

First Collect (BCP p. 98)
O God, you make us glad with the weekly remembrance of the glorious resurrection of your Son our Lord: Give us this day such blessing through our worship of you, that the week to come may be spent in your favor; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Second Collect (BCP p. 98)
O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfullness during the day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Third Collect (BCP p. 98)
Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer For Mission (BCP p. 100)
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hymn Bless'd Jesus, at thy word (Liebster Jesu) (H 440)
The General Thanksgiving (BCP p. 101) Officiant and People
Almighty God, Father of all mercies,
we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks
for all your goodness and loving-kindness
to us and to all whom you have made.
We bless you for our creation, preservation,
and all the blessings of this life;
but above all for your immeasurable love
in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ;
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies,
that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise,
not only with our lips, but in our lives,
by giving up our selves to your service,
and by walking before you
in holiness and righteousness all our days;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit,
be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.
A Prayer of St. Chrysostom (BCP p. 102) Officiant and People
Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen.
Concluding Versicle (BCP p. 102)
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Concluding Sentence (BCP p. 102)
Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine: Glory to God from generation to generation in the Church, and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20, 21

Prayers for National Life, from the Book of Common Prayer Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God, the fountain of wisdom, whose will is good and gracious, and whose law is truth: We beseech thee so to guide and bless our Senators and Representatives in Congress assembled that they may enact such laws as shall please thee, to the glory of thy Name and the welfare of this people; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty God, who sittest in the throne judging right: We humbly beseech thee to bless the courts of justice and the magistrates in all this land; and give unto them the spirit of wisdom and understanding, that they may discern the truth, and impartially administer the law in the fear of thee alone; through him who shall come to be our Judge, thy Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. And finally, teach our people to rely on your strength and to accept their responsibilities to their fellow citizens, that they may elect trustworthy leaders and make wise decisions for the well-being of our society; that we may serve you faithfully in our generation and honor your holy Name.
For yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Amen.
Additional Prayers for this time from
The Book of Common Prayer
Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart and especially the hearts of the people of these United States of America, that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God, you have bound us together in a common life. Help us, in the midst of our struggles for justice and truth, to confront one another without hatred or bitterness, and to work together with mutual forbearance and respect; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
