Brethren We Have Met To Worship-Lead Sheet
Welcome
Prayer of Invocation | Acknowledging our need for God to work in the service
WE ARE CALLED TO WORSHIP *Call to Worship | from John 4:24; Galatians 4:6
Leader God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. All Praise be to God who has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts so that we may worship Him in spirit and in truth.
*Song of Praise | O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing
O for a thousand tongues to sing My great Redeemer’s praise, The glories of my God and King, The triumphs of his grace.
My gracious Master and my God, Assist me to proclaim, To spread through all the earth abroad The honors of thy name.
Jesus, the name that charms our fears, That bids our sorrows cease; ’Tis music in the sinner’s ears, ’Tis life and health and peace.
He breaks the pow’r of of reigning sin, He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean, His blood availed for me.

WE ACKNOWLEDGE OUR SIN
*Call To Confession | Isaiah 30:1, 15 "Ah, stubborn children," declares the Lord, "who carry out a plan, but not mine,
and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin." Thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, "In repentance and rest you
shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength." But you were unwilling.
*Song of Preparation | Spirit of the Living God
Spirit of the Living God Fall fresh on me Spirit of the Living God Fall fresh on me Melt me mold me
Fill me use me Spirit of the Living God Fall fresh on me
REPEAT ALL

Corporate Confession of Sin | from Romans 8:59 Leader Lord, we confess that too often we live according to the flesh and that we are hostile toward you. Lord, we confess that too often we fail to live according to the Spirit and that we are unsubmissive toward you. All Instead of humility, we are prideful— thinking too highly of ourselves. Instead of charity, we are greedy— wanting more than we need. Instead of purity, we are lustful— desiring that which is not our own. Instead of contentment, we are envious— resenting what others have. Instead of self-control, we are gluttonous— overindulging in so many things. Instead of forgiveness, we are wrathful— harming those who oppose us. Instead of diligence, we are slothful— refusing the work of the Kingdom. Leader Lord, hear us as we continue to confess silently before you.
[Silent confession]
Leader For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. All Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Leader You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. All Those who have the Spirit of Christ belong to Him. Amen.
AND WE ARE GIVEN A WORD OF ASSURANCE *Words of Assurance | from Ezekiel 36:25-27
Leader The Lord has sprinkled clean water on you, and you are clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols He has cleansed you. All And you have given us a new heart, and a new spirit you have put within us. Leader The Lord has removed the heart of stone from your flesh and has given you a heart of flesh. All And you have put your Spirit within us, and cause us to walk in your statutes and to be careful to obey your rules. Leader In Jesus, you are forgiven and are a new creation in Christ!All Glory to God!
*Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell;
The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen *universal

Sermon | Rev. Jamie MacGregor Walking in the Spirit | Galatians 5:16-26
(page 975 in the pew Bibles) 16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will
not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Giving of Tithes and Offerings A giving box is available in the back of the sanctuary to give to Cornerstone Church and her mission having been renewed by the Gospel to serve one another and to love Waukesha County. Giving is an act of worship, just like singing or praying, because when we give, we are recognizing that all we have is a gift from God. Returning a portion of that gift is both an act of obedience and dependence, and we are called to do so joyfully. Feel free to put your offering in the giving box before or after service near the back of the sanctuary.
All scripture quotations generally are taken from the English Standard Version (ESV). All songs not public domain are used with permission under CCLI license 508109
