*APOSTLE’S CREED
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; He ascended into heaven, He is seated at the right hand of the Father, and He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting. Amen.
Giving to Support St. John’s
As a church we encourage those who are part of the St. John’s family to be giving to the work of our
congregation. We believe you should not feel burdened by the issue of giving but in fact, find it a joy!

*PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
With confidence in God’s grace and mercy, let us pray for the church, the world, and all those
in need..
Holy God, you call us to work for peace and justice in your vineyard. Refresh the church with
your life, that we may bear fruit through work and service.
Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer
Thank you for the abundant harvest of the earth. Bless and care for those whose hands bring the
fruits of the earth to the tables of all who hunger. May we be inspired by your servants who
cared deeply for your creation.
.Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer
Curb the impulses of greed and pride that lead us to take advantage of others. Grant that world
leaders seek the fruits of the kingdom for the good and welfare of all people.
Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer
Sustain all who suffer with the promise of new life. Assured of your presence, heal our pain and
suffering, and equip us to embrace all bodies aching for wholeness of mind, body, and soul. We
call to mind those who are struggling today.
We pray especially for all those we name before you silently and aloud
Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer
We pray for all managers in our community and for all who seek employment. Give hope and a
future to those who lack meaningful work, those who have been marginalized or abused in the
workplace, and those who desire new opportunities.
Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer
Thank you for the saints who teach us to live faithfully in your vineyard. May our chorus join
theirs until our labor is complete.
.Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer
Listen as we call on you, O God, and enfold in your loving arms all for whom we pray, in the
name of Jesus Christ our Lord…. Amen
*SHARING OF THE PEACE (We reconcile our relationships before Communion)

We Taste the Grace of Jesus Christ
*THE GREAT THANKSGIVING WOV p. 36
(P) The Lord be with you.
(C) And also with you.
(P) Lift up your hearts.
(C) We lift them to the Lord.
(P) Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
(C) It is right to give our thanks and praise.
*WORDS OF INSTITUTION
P) God of our weary years, God of our silent tears,
you have brought us this far along the way.
In times of bitterness you did not abandon us,
but guided us into the path of love and light.
In every age you sent prophets
to make known your loving will for all humanity.
The cry of the poor has become your own cry;
our hunger and thirst for justice is your own desire.
In the fullness of time, you sent your chosen servant
to preach good news to the afflicted,
to break bread with the outcast and despised,
and to ransom those in bondage to prejudice and sin.
In the night in which he was betrayed,
our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks;
broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.
Do this for the remembrance of me.
8
Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks,
and gave it for all to drink, saying:
This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
shed for you and all people for the forgiveness of sin.
Do this for the remembrance of me.
For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup
we proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
C) Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
P) Remembering, therefore, his death and resurrection,
we await the day when Jesus shall return
to free all the earth from the bonds of slavery and death.
Come, Lord Jesus! And let the church say, Amen
C) Amen. P) Send your Holy Spirit, our advocate,
to fill the hearts of all who share this bread and cup
with courage and wisdom to pursue love and justice in all the world.
Come, Spirit of freedom! And let the church say, Amen
C) Amen. P) Join our prayers and praise with your prophets and martyrs of every age,
that, rejoicing in the hope of the resurrection,
we might live in the freedom and hope of your Son.
Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honor is yours, almighty Father, now and forever.
C) Amen.
9
*THE LORD’S PRAYER
(C) Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come,
Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread;
Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us;
Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom,
the power, and the glory are Yours, now and forever. Amen.
DISTRIBUTION
As we celebrate communion together in our homes we are connected with the larger
Church—that is the Communion of Saints. This is not our private meal but a meal shared
with believers throughout the ages. Even in our distancing, we are brought close together
in the sharing of the presence of our savior Jesus Christ in the sharing of this food and
drink.
As you share the “bread”: The Body of Christ Given For You
As you share the “cup”: The Blood of Christ Shed For You
10
*BLESSING ~
(P)May the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you and keep you in his
grace.
*POST-COMMUNION PRAYER
(P): God of the welcome table,
in this meal we have feasted on your goodness
and have been united by your presence among us.
Empower us to go forth sustained by these gifts
so that we may share your neighborly love with all,
through Jesus Christ, the giver of abundant life
C: Amen.

The Father, ☩ the Son, and the Holy Spirit bless you and keep you in eternal love.

Fiber Arts Ministry will meet in the Courtyard at Church at 3:30 PM on Wednesdays.
We can have 10 people so there is room for a few more. If you don’t have handwork but
would like to get out of the house and safely socialize, this is a good opportunity. There
will be a sign in sheet at the door before proceeding to the Courtyard.
Chehalis Food Bank is in need of non-perishable food items, canned goods, cereal, etc.
They also will accept monetary donations. If you would like to make a donation you can
mail a check to St John's made out to Chehalis Food Bank and we will make sure it gets
there. If you have items to donate please call the church office 360-748-4741 and we will
arrange someone to pick them up and deliver to the Food Bank. They are serving 80-90
families at this time
Mobile Meals Ministry We had another good morning at Gather September 5. We had
prepared for 70 guests, the number from the previous week. Today a steady flow of 1-2 added
up to 35. Then a van pulled up with a man bringing us 5# of potatoes and a gallon of milk from
"The Chip Guy" at God's Portion. He said he is retired and healthy so chooses to help others on
his own, not as part of any group. This man goes there on Saturdays to look for food for 3
families in 1 area. We explained we had lots of food. He estimated 12 people so we gave him
enough sack lunches, to- go main meals, and water bottles for all. So now he will network with
us on Saturdays. Yay! I will dub him "Gentleman Jim." Then got some last minute guests to
total about 55 altogether. We left some items in walk-in for Gather to use. On my way
home, I saw a young man I recognized from Gather sitting streetside with a sign, so I
pulled over and gave him 2 sack lunches. The Holy Spirit keeps bringing us people
whether with donations or needs.
