Singing and Reading God’s Word
New Doxology
STANZA 1
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Him, all creatures here below.
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts.
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
STANZA 2
Let earth and heavenly saints proclaim
the power and might of His great Name.
Let us exalt on bended knee.
Praise God, the Holy Trinity.
REFRAIN
Praise God. Praise God.
Praise God, who saved my soul.
Praise God. Praise God.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
STANZA 3
Praise to the King; His throne transcends.
His crown and kingdom never end.
Now and throughout eternity,
I’ll praise the One who died for me

This Is Amazing Grace
STANZA 1
Who breaks the power of sin and darkness?
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger?
The King of glory, the King above all kings.
STANZA 2
Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder
and leaves us breathless in awe and wonder?
The King of glory, the King above all kings.
REFRAIN
This is amazing grace, this is unfailing love,
that You would take my place, that You would bear my cross.
You laid down Your life that I would be set free.
Jesus, I sing for all that You’ve done for me.
STANZA 3
Who brings our chaos back into order?
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter?
The King of glory, the King of glory.
Who rules the nations with truth and justice,
shines like the sun in all of its brilliance?
The King of glory, the King above all kings.
BRIDGE
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain.
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave.

Psalm 19: 7-8, 10, 13-14 (ESV) 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; 8 the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; 10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. 13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
May the Words of My Mouth

John 1:1-5 (ESV) 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

STANZA 1
My hope is built on nothing less,
than Jesus’s blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly trust in Jesus’s name.
REFRAIN
Christ alone, Cornerstone.
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love.
Through the storm, He is Lord. Lord of all.
STANZA 2
When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil.
My anchor holds within the veil.
STANZA 3
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone.
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Lord’s Supper
The Lord's Supper is a church's proclamation that we are in fellowship with God and one another through Christ, a commemoration of Christ's death, a believer's act of joyfully acknowledging that we have been offered mercy through faith in Christ who forgives and restores, and a renewal of the believer's commitment to Christ and his people, thereby making the church one body and marking it off from the world.
Participation in the Lord's Supper is designed for believers who have been baptized by immersion and are faithful members of Woodlawn Baptist Church or another church body of like faith. This morning if you are not yet a believer, please let the elements pass you by. We hope our "proclaiming the Lord's death until He comes,” through participation in the Lord’s Supper, serves as a proclamation of the gospel to you that you might trust in Christ for salvation.

Offering
“It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). One of the greatest joys for Christians is being able to give cheerfully, generously, and sacrificially. There is tremendous satisfaction that comes from seeing the fruits of our labor multiplied many times over in the lives of others. Money is a powerful thing, and when we use it well, it has potential to do incredible good. We hope that we’re able to excel in the grace of giving. And so having been found faithful with little, God will be pleased to entrust us with more.
Global
Today we will pray for Guadeloupe.
Population: 467,182
94.09% Christian
4.3% Evangelical
Through the work of Southern Baptists and other organizations, strong networks of evangelical churches have been planted. Many evangelical groups practice a strict code of conduct to avoid moral compromise and occult influence. Pray for a greater degree of unity, collaboration and a profound understanding of the freedom to be found in Christ.
Local Church
We will also pray for Istrouma en Español and their Pastor, Guillermo Mangieri. (10500 Sam Rushing Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70816) (Email: [email protected])

Abuse Awareness Training
On Sunday, August 11th immediately following the Worship Gathering, anyone that works with babies through high schoolers is asked to attend this mandatory training session. Our staff has been working diligently since October to improve our safety policies and procedures. It is essential that we all know these new policies and procedures. We are thankful for all of our volunteers who serve our children and families. Our desire is to do our best to protect both child and volunteer. The training will be held in the Fellowship Hall. Lunch and childcare will be provided. Please let Bro. Travis or Lyn know if you can’t attend so that other arrangements can be made.
Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC)
Do you want a better grasp on God’s Word so that you are able to know it and apply it better? In the Spring of 2020, Woodlawn Baptist Church will be partnering with a number of local churches to provide counseling and discipleship training. This training time will be designed to equip people to be better handlers of God’s Word in counseling and discipleship situations. If you are interested, see Bro. Travis for more information.

After that time, the cost will be $30. Call Dana Truitt at BAGBR (225-296-3943) to register.
Life Groups
We have many ministries that serve to help you in your sanctification as you follow Christ. One aspect of sanctification often overlooked is accountability from brothers and sisters. Life Groups, beginning Sunday, Sept. 8, are small groups of the same gender that exist to hold you accountable in your corporate worship engagement, daily bible reading, evangelistic witness, and pursuit of holiness. Sign up to be in a Life Group by emailing Pastor Laramie ([email protected]). He will connect you with
one of our Life Group leaders.
