PRODUCT INFORMATION

The SIA has defined standards of competence for licensing which are consistently appliedacross the industry.

Learners are provided with clear and concise requirements of what is expected to gaintheir licences to Practise.

Mandatory units ensure there is consistency from one learner to the next and make thecourse delivery simple for tutors.

To achieve the full qualification, learnersmust successfully complete all of therequired mandatory units.

Assessment is flexible to meet centre, assessor and learner needs.

The assessments and practical demonstrations are fundamental to giving learners thenecessary skills to ensure they are fully qualified to carry out the duties for which they areresponsible as an SIA Licence-to-Practise badge holders.

QUALIFICATION AIM

With the London 2012 Olympics fastapproaching, City & Guilds qualificationsin Licence to Practice provide the perfectfoundations for those wanting to work ina security role.

These nationally recognised qualifications,designed in collaboration with industryexperts, ensure learners meet ‘Licenceto Practise’ requirements set out by theSecurity Industry Authority (SIA).

PROGRESSION ROUTES

On completion learners can progress directlythrough to employment as a door supervisor,security guard, CCTV Operator or closeprotection operative.

Learners are also able to build on theexperience gained by undertaking furtherSecurity-related qualifications, including:– Level 3 Award for Physical Intervention

Training in the Private Security Industry(1988-03)

– Level 3 Award in the Delivery of ConflictManagement Training (2886-03)

QUALIFICATION LEVELS

1892-01:The level 2 qualifications are aimedat anyone interested in working in the securityindustry. Depending on which route is taken,learners are introduced to subjects including;conflict management, physical interventionskills and practical operation of equipment.

1892:02:The level 3 qualification is for thosewith some previous experience in the securityindustry. It covers specific aspects associatedwith working as a close protection operative.
