WORLD PNEUMONIA DAY 2018

We celebrate The World Pneumonia Dayevery 12th day of November. This year, thePhilippine Foundation for Vaccinationcelebrated the World Pneumonia Day onthe last day of the 19th Philippine NationalImmunization Conference (PNIC) which washeld for the first time in Balanga, Bataanlast November 16. The 19th PNIC wassupported by the Department of Health –Region 3, the Bataan Provincial HealthOffice and the Philippine Pediatric Society –Central Luzon Chapter.

To increase the awareness of the youthregarding the increasing problem ofpneumonia, we have invited the highschool students of Bataan to participate inthe poster making contest and dancecontest with this year’s theme of “ MasayaKung Walang Pulmonya” (Happy WhenPneumonia-Free).

The event started with Dra. Josefina C.Carlos giving the opening remarks. Duringthe program, the PFV acknowledged Dra.Lulu C. Bravo for being awarded as one ofthe Top 10 PneumoFighters for 2018 in thefield of Vaccination. Dr. Eric Tayag waspresent to award the token and flowers toDra. Bravo. In her short message , Dra.Bravo said that what is important in thisworld is life, love and laughter.

Twenty four high school studentssubmitted their posters as early as October.The organizing committee and speakersserved as judges. The winners were: 3rdplace went to the City of Balanga National

High school students of Bataan to participate in theposter making contest and dance contest.

Borero and 1st place went toJustice Emilio Angeles Gancayco MemorialHigh School Reymar Paulo and his work alsowon the 19th PNIC Delegate’s Choice Award.The contestants’ works showed the youth’sknowledge on how to prevent pneumonia likethru vaccination, proper nutrition, healthyliving and breastfeeding.

The program ended with the highschool students learning a lesson thatpneumonia is a deadly disease and thiscan be prevented with immunization.

Bataan National High School won the 1st Place with themusic Sapul sa Pulmonya in the dance contest.
